Creo+ and Creo Parametric

I wanted to reach out to the community to ask if anyone has information they can share on how long a designer takes to create a CAD model and the CAD Drawing. I know this is a loaded question with many variables; complexity, quality and experience of designer....and so on. Lets level set to average all across the board.   I can develop an internal questionnaire with my business and come up with numbers as well but wanted to get  more of a industry standard number from the community and ask if anyone has already done such a study.   Thanks in advance for any information you may have and willing to share in this thread.

I cant' figure out the correct equation to drive the wing outside diameter and wing inside diameter for this part. (I will attach the part file) Image 1 - This is the part bent. The part wings should be fitting into the vertical surface walls.    Image 2 - Just for a visual reference.   Image 3 - View showing that the bent wing is falling outside of the inside and outside radius. (It should be inside of them)   Image 4 - View showing the sketch and relations driving the part.         I'm open to other methods as long as I can flatten it and that the flat pattern drawing will let me place dimensions on the arcs.   Thank you for your help

Hi, Have top-level assembly where 2 square groove welds contained in sub assembly 2 levels down fails when opened in the top-level assembly.  The weld have no errors in the sub assembly or geom-checks they were created in while that assembly is opened or the next higher level assembly is opened.Welds are shown in attached image.  Unfortunately, I'm not able to upload or show the the models that I'm working with. The welds have the following error message: FEATURE #12 (GROOVE WELD) failed regeneration. Feature geometry is not up-to-date.   Would anyone have any ideas what's causing the lower level welds to possibly fail?Any ideas related to another way to create the solid welds I'm trying to create?   Thanks for any help you can provide! Hello all, I am currently working on a device that has a temperature sensor inside a sealed plastic case. The sensor is not touching the case so there is an air gap.  How can I simulate the transient thermal response of the sensor to a change in the external temperature?

Is there a way to bulk modify certain parameters when sketching?For example, I have four parallel lines, and I want all of them to be 20 mm apart (equidistant). I was hoping to be able to select/highlight all four lines (or the dimensions), then click on the NORMAL button and change all four dimensions in one stroke (please see picture attached)... Unfortunatelly, it does not work like that -- for four lines it is not a big deal, but if you have hundreds of these lines to align like this, such a shortcut would be a tremendous productivity trick! P.S. I chose the label forced by the system, could not find a SKETCHING label so I took the one that sounded close...

This might be a simple question - sorry I am new to creo.     I have imported a couple of iges files and it seems that during the processing, creo is renaming both the part and assembly part numbers.   Is there anything in the settings that I am missing?   Thanks.

Hi Guys,   is there a way to change the order of windows in the drop-down menu to activate a Creo-window?   I quite often have a part or assemby active and when I close the window of this part or assy, Creo opens the part or assembly which is the last one in the list.It would be better if creo will activate the window which was activated before I activated the window which I closed. This means that Creo needs to change the order in the list, each time you activate a specific window.

In the layout if I create a template to have the three standard views, is there some way to make them automatically scale to stay within the sheet?

Hi Guys,    Lets say I have an assembly. In the assembly I have a core, and cavity.  In the assembly I want to make a layer called "core". I then select the core to put it on the layer.   Now i can hide and unhide with that layer. Great.    Where i have an issue is now in the model tree the core is grayed out (when layer "core" is hidden. What i found is if I unhide this in the model tree, I can no longer hide and unhide in the layer tree. What the hell. Its almost like once I say show in model tree, it over writes the ability to layer hiding and unhiding.    My Creo 3 did not do this. BUT it also did not gray out the parts in the model tree when I hide a layer with them on it.    Can I stop things from getting grayed out in the model tree when I hide them on a layer? (like how our Creo 3 was working?) Then maybe no one will ever try and unhide a grayed out part that was on a hidden layer.    Jay    

My programmers use Creo 2 and have Vericut for material removal checking.  When we went to Creo 3 (M190) this went away and now it has an internal material removal that doesn't work well for them.  Is there anyway to get Vericut to work in Creo 3?

Using Creo 4.0, I'm having issues with inserting a Datum Feature Symbol that has a gap from the edge it is applied to in a drawing.   I have tried using annotated Datum markers in the part and showing this in the drawing, and inserting it directly to the drawing. The result is the same: the leader line runs directly to the edge and there is no gap. Not sure what the standard is in other industries, but my company likes to maintain a gap from all leaders coming off an edge. Can anyone advise on how to fix this? In 3.0 (we just upgraded), I had a handle to drag where I wanted but that seems to have disappeared in Creo 4.0.

Does anyone know if you can load the auto axis utility in Creo 3?  If so, how do you do this?  We had it in Creo 2 and now it is gone in Creo 3.  Plus when I try to register the Creo 2 one I'm using in Creo 3 it says it can't run it.  I've also tried adding the prodev.dat to the config and it won't stay saved in there.  Can anyone help?

Hi, I want to analyze a mechanism but I don't know how to implement it. The pictures shows the 3 parts of the assembly. Housing Lever plate with a slot. The plate with the slot moves back and forth. The pin of the Lever stuck in the slot. This causes the lever to move. I tried different approaches but none of them worked properly. Thanks for the help.

Hello everybody absolute beginner here so please bear with me. Creo 7. I'd like to use the show and Hide icons to hide extruded features from my view. But the only thing which is being hidden is the axis of the extrusion - what am I doing wrong?If I go to Layers, I find the extrudes as children of the PRT_ALL_AXES (?!) the reason why I cannot understand. What am I doing wrong and how can I achieve this seemingly basic activity? Please point me in the right direction. Hello Multibody community!   As I recently have received some questions and suggestions around how to trim a body, let me spend a few minutes today to tackle that topic.   #1) How can I trim a body by a datum, surface, quilt etc? I have heard this question several times, as there is no “Trim Body” tool currently in Creo Parametric 7.0. Still, we do have other tools that you can use to trim body geometry.  If you want to trim a body by a datum, surface, quilt, this is the “Solidify-Tool” with the “Remove Geometry” option. Here are two examples how that would look like. Two hints if you want to try it: Set the body that you want to trim as default body. Hi All,    I'm running 3 scenarios to try out differing heat sink designs and placements. I have successfully run 2 of these scenarios, but in the 3rd one the heat is not transferring to the heat sink from the components. The components are constrained to the heat sink the same way, and the same materials, as in the first two scenarios. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

We've been using Creo 4.0 for a while, and I'm aware that "support" for that release has been over for a bit. I'm wondering what folks have found to be the most stable release between 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0. I'm not really that interested in multibody functionality - I see that as another way for horrible model management to expand to heretofore unseen levels of disorganization. I'm more interested in whether a particular "version" is more stable, has less bugs, maybe handles the tedium of drawing generation better, etc. Maybe Simulate is better in one version than another? Anyone have any opinions on what they've seen as the "best"?
