Does Creo Schematic (or any plugin product to it) create color coded plugs automatically like Solidworks? What I mean is the wire coming in shows on the view of the plug. Here is an example: I have a client that is considering switching to Creo Schematic which would help me out a lot.... But this is the one feature I can't seem to replicate in Creo.
I've used one of my fave features, the Spinal Bend, many times over the years. I prefer using them on quilts because then it's easier to have multiple Spinal Bends in a model. THIS time I ran into a VERY weird problem. The spinal bend failed on the surface, but yet worked fine with the solid. What the????? Any ideas? PTC guys, what do you think?
Hello, I have been demoing the otk java examples and decided to create my own project.My custom action listener class is working fine within the otkexamples project.Now that I created my own project, I am having issues in my main class. I practically copied and pasted the structure of otkExamplesmain.java but removed all the example methods. The exception is throwing when trying to get the current session on launch when setting up the ribbon commands. I must have missed something when setting up my project but cannot figure out what that is.Exception caught: java.lang.NullPointerExceptioncom.ptc.cipjava.CIPRemoteApp.getTransport(CIPRemoteApp.java:40) private void SetupRibbonCommands() {try{ System.out.println("Get Session"); session = pfcSession.GetCurrentSession(); wSession = (WSession)session; wSession.RibbonDefinitionfileLoad(ribbonFile); //startCreoson(); addAbasCommands();}
Hello, Does anyone have a copy of PTC License Server Release Wildfire 3.0 Datecode M120 they can share? That was the PTC licensing software used on my old laptop to share my Creo 2.0 license with my workstation. I am upgrading from Creo 2.0 to Creo 3.0 M040 and need to move my license server to a new Laptop, but I don't have the installation file for PTC License Server Release Wildfire 3.0 Datecode M120. I believe that is the most stable license server for single seat licenses. -Paul
Hello, I am currently using Creo 5.0.4.0 Users at my company have been through many Creo related changes in the last year or so. These changes include version upgrades and configurations Prior to these changes I was able to import IGES data and select flat surfaces on the data for sketching, extruding etc. I can no longer do this. Can anyone explain why? Thank You
Hai, in EMX, during ejector pin placement, relief holes will cut only in one insert, this is causing issues when split inserts are available which is sharing same ejector pin holes. one of the example is Blade ejector pins. Please let me know is there any way to cut the ejector pin holes in all sharing inserts with out manual updation.
Hi,I am new to PTC and I was following the customization guide for creating a new class called 'Pet' on page 53. I did not complete the entire process and then stopped the winchill and the machine was shut down. Now, I am not able to start my Method Server.. I get the below error log:Mon 7/8/13 15:53:57: main: wt.services.ManagerException: wt.util.WTException: (wt.pom.pomResource/0) wt.pom.PersistenceException: A persistence error occurred. Hi, I am creating a note using ProDtlnoteCreate(). But before that i want to center align the text. With the help of ProDtlattachAlloc() and ProDtlnotedataAttachmentSet() I am able to keep the note on required position. status = ProTextStyleJustificationSet(text_style, PRO_TEXT_HRZJUST_CENTER); status = ProTextStyleVertJustificationSet(text_style, PRO_VERTJUST_MIDDLE); - tried these for alignment but couldn't make out the result. Let me know if there is any othet api/methods to center align the notes. Thanks and regards, Sekar
Hi, I have been creating sweeps of a small rectangular sketch attached to a spiral trajectory. I am trying to create a bimetallic coil, like the one in the photo below. I wish to model it in Ansys. However, to do this there needs to be two different materials (i.e. red and blue in the below photo are separate materials, and therefore separate objects). My problem is that I have created the two spiral sweeps, and I'm having difficulty creating an assembly of the two joined together. They tend to overlap at the very center, and are constantly at 'partially constrained' status. If anyone could help I would be very very grateful. The only constraints are that the entire assembly must fit into an envelope size of 50mm x 20mm x 15mm, so i left my outer spiral sweep with an outer diameter of 20mm. And that each material must be no less than 0.5mm thick. Thanks!
I was wondering if anyone else isexperiencing this in their environements. We have several userswho havecreo_parametric_customization.ui files that spontaneously grow very large, in the 10 Mb to 20 Mbrange. This file is usually 50k to 200k. When this file gets large Creo reacts very strange, Creo runs very slow, Creo will not open drawing files, Creo takes a long time to exit when shutting it down, etc. This does not seem to be happening on every machine but is becoming more prevelent as time goes on.PTC has not been very helpful in solving this, we found the root cause to be the creo_parametric_customization.ui file, but I now think the growth of this filemight be related to the J Link applications that I have running. We have several applications that load ribbon definitions using pfcSession.Session.RibbonDefinitionfileLoadI am not sure if this istheroot cause but I need to solve thisissue and wanted to know if anyone else is experienceing this same problem and if they believe it is r
I've added a cosmetic thread to a tapped hole in order for it to show up in my drawing. However it shows up in my drawing as two solid line circles when the inner circle should be solid line and the outer circle should be a hidden line. How can I get the outer circle to show up as a hidden line circle?
How do I enable tooltips next to the cursor when I hover over an icon? My system only shows them by the message area, which is counter-intuitive to me since the other dozen or so programs I use daily display them next to the cursor. Using Creo 5.0.0
Curious if, there is a way around this. I have a custom command, that should upload data into a 3rd party system. I've got this working with CREOSON and it's tested working in my IDENow that I have attached this code to a button command in creo, it causes it to hang when I reference my open assemblyI am able to get a session ID to creoson, but when I run the command bom : get_paths causes it to hang.Is this a limitation with creoson? I assume there is some resource that is occupied during the OnMethod that stops CREOSON from responding
Units in annotations and repeat regions is very weird. I made an assembly where I used component parameters to set tightening torques for screws. I set the Unit Quantity of the parameter to "Torque/Moment" and get to choose the unit "m N" (bit weird; it's usually expressed as "Nm", but whatever). So far so good. To test it, I set the value to 10 on all my screws. Great. Now I'll add it to my repeat region. I add a column showing "&asm.mbr.cparam.torque". The result? 9999999994.879. What? Where did this come from? Where is my 10 Nm? Looks like Creo shows the value in a different unit. My suspicions are confirmed when I try adding a parameter with the default unit (mm^2 g / sec^2) instead. Indeed, here the value is conserved, and is displayed as "10.000" in my repeat region. Hm, ok. Let's see the units, then. I change my repeat region to display "&asm.mbr.cparam.ptc_unit.torque". The result is as follows: The ones I added as "m N" get displayed as "moment2", and the
While having a sketch in edition, I want to select and edit the sketch dimension, using Jlink. I'm using this code for selection. SelectionOptions selectionOptions= pfcSelect.SelectionOptions_Create("dimension");selectionOptions.SetMaxNumSels(1);Selections selections=session.Select(selectionOptions, null); But at this moment I'm unable to select the desired dimensions. Any idea?
Hello, I am trying to make an assembly for a chain drive which consists of hundreds of chain links. Each individual link is connected to the previous with a axis constraint at the pin-hole. How can this be patterned to avoid linking each individually? Otherwise, is there another way (a proper way) to make a chain drive in creo?
We have been using Reference Balloons on detail views for years and they have been appearing with the letters REF under the balloon, which is what we want.Today, one of the engineers went to add a reference balloon and instead of REF, he got "Default". I created some new parts, a drawing and a detail view, added a reference balloon and got the "default", also.If I add Reeference_bom_ballon_text to my drawing options and set the value to REF, a new reference balloon comes in like it did before. What is strange is that we have not updated our Creo2 install in about 6 months, so why is the software suddenly giving us things we don't expect.Creo2 m220Windchill10.0 m040
Hi All, If we create annotations using annotation features we will get the annotation element and from the annotation element we will get annotation parameters. In my case, I have created a Standalone annotation. How will I get annotations parameters?
Ok, so, this is the first time I've played with the welding module. Turns out we have it, and so I thought I'd play with it a bit. I wanted 3 small tack welds shown in the model. Got it to work....and then it disappeared. Turns out for some reason it ended up on my "rules-based" curves layer! What the...??? So, thenI had to create a NEW layer specifically for welds because when I went into the curves layer to add a filter, for some stupid reason it wanted to automatically delete the (top) 2 rules I had in the layer because it said adding the rules I wanted invalidated them (see below). So, knowing there's a couple ways to skin that cat, first I had to create the new layer for the weld solid (left image), and then I had to add a rule to my curves layer that removed anything on that layer (right image), and that was the only way I got it to work. The rules-based layers can be kinda quirky, there are some combinations of conditions you just
When working with a sheetmetal part, solidify only gives the option to remove material, not to add material. Is there perhaps a secret config option to allow the addition of material in a sheetmetal part? The workaround for now is to start with a solid part, then use the solidify feature, then convert the solid part to a sheetmetal part.
Hi we have 184 license users of Creo in my organization. We are currently going through the process of upgrading from Creo 3 M150 to Creo 4 M100. A question was asked how do you force people to upgrade if they are taking too long to do the upgrade and holding the rest back? Is there a way to make to block Creo 3 licenses? We use a flexlm server to manage the floating licenses for the Creo products. It seems though if you have a Creo 4 or 5 license , they are backwards compatible with older versions, as far as flexlm is concerned. What are your thoughts or what has worked for your in your org?
Hi, is there a build-in tool to visualize the Creo license usage? Or has someone created a script to parse the flexlm logfile? I want to analyze the peak license usage during the last year. as add-on I'd like to assign users to departments and get an overview of license usage by department. br Bernhard
Creo continues to be inconsistent with specifying path names inclusive of spaces. Using the config option pro_colormap_path requires putting the path within quotes(") if there are any spaces in the path names. system_colors_file D:\ProE Standards\System Colors\syscol_wf.scl pro_colormap_path "D:\ProE Standards\Color Maps" mdl_tree_cfg_file D:\ProE Standards\Start Creo4\tree.cfg Note that the other two options listed have spaces in the path names and do not require the double quotes to work properly while the colormap options does not work for me in Creo 4 M110 without quotes. Holdover from the UNIX rules, not acceptable in an application that has been claiming to be MS Windows compliant for a long time. Has anyone else seen this behavior on any other options in Creo 4 or higher?
Working strictly with Sheet metal drawings, I want to grab all of the drawing notes on the drawing and categorize potential mfg processes involved. Bend radii, special Die information etc. These all exist as note in the drawing. Pretty simple to do if the part is static. Our Creo operates as configure to order. The parts are highly configurable and have many wall features, forms, (some operation model as cosmetic, note is only indicator) coming and going using pro/program. The drawings are programmed using layer states. Basically the engineer configures the model to a configuration, details the drawing, puts these detail items on a layer by creating a "state", then a simple drawing program is written to turn on states for certain configurations. This auto-cleans up the drawings. assemblies are configured and the parts all configure top down using pro-program. Parts are dynamic
Hi, I am having a problem with importing the image using the view tab on Creo 5.0.4 and the problem wasn't solved even after I reinstall the Creo. What I did is by clicking the view > model display > Import, the choose the image I want to display on a plane in Creo part file. It worked just fine but I had an issue with Creo start running slow after I close the resource center window, so I used the task manager to shut down the Cero parametric then reopen the file again. The image failed to display and I won't work even after I re-imported, change the .jpeg to .bmp, turn on the .jpeg in paint and imported the picture into Creo, or even reinstalled the software. None of these works. The imported image looks like this: The jpeg I want to installed looks like this: Does anyone knows how to solve this problem?
