Do you create or modify features in Creo? Now you can speed up your work by taking advantage of feature mini toolbars and dimension toolbars, available in Creo 6.0 and later. You'll find these toolbars for features frequently used with part and sheet metal design. Here's everything you need to know to use them.   To Open  Feature Mini Toolbar in Creo   To reach a feature mini toolbar, simply click in the graphics area of your Creo screen.  A mini toolbar appears providing you with quick access to relevant options for your feature. Check out the awesome new Mirror Component command in the Component group. Try mirroring a sub-assembly and make sure you check the “Perform symmetry analysis” option so potential symmetrical components will be reused and potentially adjust the mirror action by selecting from the following options:Mirror GeometryReuseReuse Mirror TwinExcludeWatch the movie to see an example of mirroring a sub-assembly.

As you all know Pro/Diagram is being superseded by Creo Schematics.  In Creo 4.0 we are restricting access to Pro/Diagram via a hidden configuration option and in Creo 5.0 we will officially retire Pro/Diagram turning it off completely.   To turn Pro/Diagram back on you need to add enable_obsolete_modes True to your configuration file and start Creo.

You can now make it easier to page through various combination states by creating hyperlinks on notes. In other words, you can create a note annotation for your model that contains a hyperlink to a combination state. Clicking the hyperlink sets the drawing view to the certain state.In this post, a PTC expert explains how to add a hyperlink to a combination state.A note annotation can contain a hyperlink to a combination state. Select an annotation and click Format > Hyperlink to open the Edit Hyperlink dialog box. Have you downloaded Creo 4.0 yet? One of the first things you might want to try out is the new full-screen mode. It removes user interface components to maximize your 3D view. In this post, Product Manager Martin Neumueller describes how it works.To work in full screen mode, press the standard F11 function key or the Full Screen icon in the status bar. Working in this mode provides you with a maximized graphics area and optimized visualization to inspect and interact with the design model. When in full screen mode, the ribbon model tree and status bar, including the message area, are removed, providing you a full graphics area to work in. Years ago, finite element analysis (FEA) was prohibitively expensive, required expert training, and delivered dangerously flawed results. Is simulation more accessible now? In this guest post, Tony Abbey, FRAeS, an engineer and consultant who’s devoted his long career to FEA, answers “Yes,” but with one rather large, important caveat.   The bad old days I started my finite element analysis (FEA) career in the mid-1970s, in the UK aircraft industry. We ran simulations on an IBM mainframe computer, which cost around $30 million in today’s money. It only had 1Mb of memory and pitiful processing speed compared to even the most basic of today’s laptops.   The FEA program annual license cost over $100 thousand dollars a seat.
