Mathcad

I had matrices with mixed unit and NaNs in calculation and kept getting units errors. It was a surprise to me that NaN would grab the unit from the first matrix element. After realizing that I found a similar thread about same happening with 0 values. In that case it was solved with zero. Interestingly that doesn't show in the list of units and I couldn't find it in the help either. Anyway, for my purposes to solutions seems possible: either moving the unit row to bottom or to utilize zero with the NaN:There's no question here, but I do find the behaviour more than a little odd...

I have been using Mathcad for over 20 years, and currently have a support plan.  It's support renewal time again and I'm being told my perpetual license for Mathcad will expire if I do not renew my support plan. How does a perpetual license expire?       

Hello all, TLDR; excel cells in my worksheet resize themselves every time the documents is closed and opened. How to fix? ------------ I'm having a problem with some excel components I am trying to use in a worksheet I have setup.The general idea is I have set this up as a template where the input values can be easily updated, and then the user can quickly see if the desired values pass or fail.I wanted a quickly visibly colour check (red = fail, green = pass). To do this I passed the values into an excel component and used conditional formatting to change the colour of the cells depending on the value (ie if the check value that was passed in = "Pass" then the cells would be highlighted green, if it was = "Fail" then the cells would be highlight red). This works perfectly, and there's no built in functionality to change the colour of a math region based on the value of a result as far as I'm aware so this is my only option for doing this. However, my problem arises

Hello All, I'm trying to extract data from 2 variables. Example, by selecting Material data from drop down list and temperature. It should throw allowable stress value.For P11 material at 1050degF, allowable stress value is 4200psi.  Can you please help me on this problem.  

HiI have the following relatively minor problem with Chart Component axis. If I let Mathcad to select axis values automatically, the maximum value doesn't show in the graph at all. If I set the maximum value of the y-axis to be 10% higher than the largest y-value, the axis values are no integers, but have decimal values as well. Is there some way to set axis values automatically, in a way that the maximum value would be shown in the graph, but also the numerical values in the y axis would be integers? In the attached sheet, there are three graphs. The first shows how the graph is shown automatically, in the second graph maximum value to y-axis is set, but as noted the y-axis values are not integers. The third graph shows how I would like the graph to look like, but I would hope that Mathcad would produce this kind of graph automatically without manual selections.  

I need to get data out of an MCD file. PTC MathCad Express Prime 8 cannot open MCD files, so I was trying to convert it into an MCDX file first. When I try to use the "XMCD, MCD Converter", I get an error saying "Unexpected error encountered during conversion". How do I resolve this?

Hello all, I have attached a sheet with a simple example function where the voltage jumps. This causes convergence problems.  I am working actually more complex signal at a capacitor, but I cant share my actual sheet.Basically my attached example is the same... I have waveform with a discontinuity. Later I do a derivation of the voltage signal.Also I want to do a FFT of this signal and therefore I sample it. In any way I have convergence problems and I dont know how to handle that. Hi all, I want to use ODESOLVE to solve the set of equations for a given volume (v). On top of that, I want to make all of those equations also depended on the variable CXmin, to evaluate the influence of this parameter on the costs calculated below. However, I run into the problem that I don't know how to set Cxmin as a unkown in the solveblock, causing errors. Can anyone help me making the solveblock solve for the volume (v) while setting CXmin as a, to be chosen, variable too? Your help is greatly appreciated in advance. With kind regards!  

I've been using R14 for a while and recently tried switching to Prime to see if it would be a useful upgrade, but I've failed miserably at reproducing some very simple work from R14 (I didn't want to uninstall R14 to put R15 on to do the conversion so I thought I'd try something from scratch).I would like to plot the result of a simple function across a range, I've declared the function and verified it works but I can't plot it using a range variable for one of the arguments?It gives me the error "There are too many range variables"...what am I doing wrong?

When I have a filename in my document footer that is longer than the width of the page, the filename runs off the side of the page. To fix this, I have to make the text smaller so that the grab bar on the right side of the text window is visible, drag it to within the margins of the page, then reset the text to original size. The problem is that this setting doesn't get saved when the document is closed. Every time I open the file it's back to running off the page. Is there anything I can do about this, or is there any way I can report this to PTC as a bug? The attached image shows how it's supposed to look at the top and how it looks every time I open the file at the bottom. I have a large matrix representing an image, 4000 columns, 2000 rows. I would like to change the values of some of the matrix elements and these elements are defined in a pair of vectors. Trying to automate the process because of the extreme size and complexity. I have attached a small example of what I am doing (and doing wrong) in which I have set up a FOR loop. This loop changes all of the elements, not just the ones I want. Help? See attached example.  

I have legacy XMCD files (mathcad 15) which I'm unable to convert.  I'm also unable to install Mathcad 15 as not even trial versions are available anymore. Is there any way to convert my files or gain access to mathcad 15 still?

Hey there y'all,  I'm having difficulties updating a MathCAD 15 file to Prime 8 in that we're losing functionality of the file. I didn't write the original file, and I've got two weeks experience with MathCAD anything. Lots of Googling and time in the PTC support section.  I can get some plotting done in the Prime file by taking "xx" to "x" (you'll see it near the top in the Live Load Moment and Shear Influence Factors section) but anything beyond the first two plots is broken. Fun!  Attached are the original file as given to me, the file the converter in Prime spat out, and the XML log.

After the conversion, I got this error message saying "units are not compatible" in an ODE solver as shown below:The initial and final conditions were defined asThis problem did not occur in Mathcad 15 and before, and I have been struggling for days to solve this.Does anyone have any suggestion? Thank you!  

Hello,I would like to know if you could help me please with some idea how could I solve the following 3rd degree equation:- equation is of type ax^3+bx^2+cx+d=0- each of the coefficients has a max and min value:a ->(amin, amax)b -> (bmin, bmax)c-> (cmin, cmax)d-> (dmin, dmax)It results a high number of 3rd equations to be solved from all the possible combinations of the min and max values of the coefficients.Solving each combination in part takes lot of time, so I would like to know if there is any possible way to get the solutions from all the equations obtained from all the possible combinations of coefficients?Thank you,Marius       

Mathcad Prime 8.0.0.0.0.0.0 So I am trying to store mixed data in a matrix.  It is the only way to pass optional parameters to a user defined function.  One of the parameters I am trying to pass is an integer (in my case representing the number of passes of welds in a welded structure).  But when I supply a zero, my program reads the number as 0•m (or whatever units I set the document to. See the attached Mathcad Prime sheet.  Here is a screenshot if you can't duplicate my errorOne possible workaround is to resolve the value this way:  a / SIUnitsOf(a) That should strip any value that is in meters of it's unit, but will not work for other units like when Unit System = USCSAny other suggestions?

Why mathcad does not expand the term fully in symbolic? AM I doing something wrong? P1 does not expand in subsequent equation how to make that happen?

I 'm busy with calculate the intersections of two lines as done here.  I think the variable y2 is currently the problem because it is a single value. In python(with numpy) i'm able to create a ones(length) array. How do i create a array (arbritrary length) where all values are the same?
