Mathcad

I am new to using the Odesolve and Pdesolve functions; see attached Mathcad 15 file.Okay, I figured out that the independent variable of Odesolver must be x and cannot be another variable like t.I also discovered that the x range cannot be defined as a 2 row 1 column vector even though the Mathcad 11 manual indicates that is possible.  This must have changed.  However, it is possible in the Pdesolver.Okay, I discovered that the independent variable must be an integer in integer steps, so I cannot define times less than 1.As shown in the attached Mathcad 15 file, I can solve a simpler form of the transmission line equations for a buried line where V is assumed constant over the line with the Odesolver.  I am able to include  time (i.e. x) varying resistance and inductance of the buried line with a time varying driver E(x). In the solution to this ODE as shown in the attached, how do I determine the actual values of x (i.e., the actual time values).Now, when I try to

Hello!So I have a program which finds solution for single ODE using Runga-Kutta method, but I need somehow to rewrite it to make it solve the system of two ODE. My question is, how I can make it done?

1.  Unless I am missing something, there is a inconsistency in the time conventions of the fft and the symbolic Fourier transform function, fourier.  See attached2.  Has anyone developed a Filon technique Fourier transform in Mathcad 15?Thanks,Reg

Hi all I have a sheet that I declare my custom functions like a drift calculation for resistors lets call this resistor_calcs, then if I include this sheet in a new worksheet using the include sheet function and try to use the functions in resistor_calcs I get a undefined variable error.in resistors.mcdx I haveNow in M15 this works fine, so I wanted to ask does prime support user defined functions which are imported using the include sheet directive.I have tried something really basic also like declaring a function x(b,c):=b+c  and then using x(1,2)=  in the remote worksheet, still this does not work.I' running Prime 4.0.Also second note where are the hyperlink insertions in prime.....Any ideas...

Hi all,I am trying to plot the graph for vm = 1, 2.But, I am getting error as 'All evaluations resulted in either an error or a complex result'when I plot for f(x) vs x.When I do the same program in Matlab for vm = 1, 2, I can able to get the result with no error.My question is, in mathcad, is it difficult to plot for vm = 1, 2 ?I attached my code below.Could someone help me.

Hello Community!I'm working on a stability problem for a ship.This involves the use of a GZ curve which I have successfully plotted with some help from Volker.GZ in ship language is the righting arm i.e. GZ is a distance in meters and if multiplied by the displacement mass of the ship a righting moment is created.In this problem a ship with the given GZ curve in my file has a mass moved from one side of the ship to another mass is 500 tonne and is moved a distance of 10m.This creates a healing moment of w *d *cos(theta) where w is the weight of the object, d is the distance moved and theta is the angle of heel which the ship will be in after the object is moved.The problem I need to solve is using the graph in my file work out which angles the ship will rest at i.e. moments be in equilibrium after the object of 500 tonne has been moved 10m along the deck of the ship (transversely)I have approached this in the attached file by weighing out the moments as they must be equal for equilibri

Hello everyone,Today's problem involves loss of ship stability caused by lifting a weight on a crane which has an effect on the ship's centre of gravity height.I think where I am struggling may be a misuse of Mathcad but I'm not sure.Below is the problem:Here is some of the explanatory equations to use:And this is where I have got to.I've obviously got the correct change in centre of gravity from the keel, however, I am .1 of a degree out with the angle of heel caused by swinging the crane out by 30 degrees.I have assumed that the lateral distance from the crane to the mass is the opposite of a right triangle of the radius of the crane's jib as the radius forms the hypotenuse of this triangle.Not sure I have got the trig functions correct with regards finding the angle of heel?Also I've not used the lift height i.e. the weight is lifted 10m but I don't think this is relevant? I say this as the virtual centre of gravity of the weight is at the suspension point which is 20m?Help as alway

Hi,I'm putting together a worksheet for beam loads and sizing. I can plot the bending moment of the applied loads on the beam however, I am having difficulty getting an automatic command to output the maximum bending moment from the function. I want to use the maximum bending moment value as a variable and input further along my worksheet.Is there a reason why the maximise function does not work? Is there another method that I can use here?I'm using Mathcad Prime 3.0 and have attached Mathcad and PDF copies of the file.

Hello,Firstly, this is a feature of Mathcad I am exploring for the first time.I am looking at a problem whereby I have a series of coordinates which I have used to plot a graph.I now need to evaluate the graph in two ways. One I need to find what the largest value on the y value is and then the point at which the curve crosses the x axis (for the second time).I can do this by eye and say that y is larges at ~0.52 and the curve crosses the x axis at ~84 degrees.Is there a way to evaluate this mathematically to get a more accurate approximation?Also can anyone tell me how I can increase the accuracy of the scales i.e. the points on the x axis of interest are currently 81 then 90. How can I show more points i.e. increments of 1 degree on the x axis?Thanks,Andy.

I am trying to install Prime 3.1 on my new laptop. I already have a license for 3.1 but it is on my old computer. I currently only have the 30 day free trial of 4.0 on my new laptop but that will expire soon and I need to use mathcad files on after that expiration date. I am having difficulty downloading 3.1 on my new laptop.Also, I tried to activate my 3.1 license on the 4.0 version, but it ended up just locking half of the features. I need availability to all the features. I really do not care if it is the 3.1 version or 4.0 version. Please help.

Can anyone help me how to remove the drift (long duration) from the cyclic data as below? If you have a function for this one, it will be greatly appreciated.Regards

Hi everyone,Here is my next challenge. The physical/mathematical problem behind it is to correct an artificially generated spectrum compatible accelerogramm for earthquake structural simulation. I need to smooth (fit) the data in order to remove the "drifting" that inherently exists when the data are integrated to obtain a velocity, but the initial velocity have to be zero.So I want to use the sophisticated smoothing capabilities of MathCAD, for example loess() or kgltt() but I also would like to be able to impose some condition, like y(0)=0. I see no way, so I decided to just fit an appropriate polynomial (without the constant term), and that works of course, but is not exactly what I wanted (loess, for example, makes many polynomials, so piecewise quadratic approximation).Attached you find a small "playground" for testing what I mean.Thanks a lot for any hints.Claudio

Hello everyone!I have a question, how can I solve a system of equation, which is consists of three equation (two of them are Differential and other one is not) using ODEsolve or there is some other way?So I had a system of two differential equation and everything worked just fine, but then I need to add one more equation and this equation is not differential. So I don't know are the ODESOLVE able to solve this kind of systems or not. It keeps telling me, that I have too few initial conditions. File 9 is a file where only 2 equation are solved.Thanks for your help

So I am going to air my frustrations - When is PTC going to give two sihts about Mathcad?  They just came out with 4.0 and it sucks as bad as it has since 1.0 - why don't they just listen to the people and fix it?  Yes they improved Prime but converting from 15 is still horrible.  It dam near doubles in size and, oh yea, still can't convert it's own graphs.Hey PTC -this is bullsiht!  It will be nearly impossible to get my company to pay another dime until you get this right.Am I alone in this?
