A function to convert a string, or vector of character codes, into a vector of characters.This is a function I have found useful on several occasions.  An example is counting successive sequences of characters in a string (eg, for run length encoding).   A recent Community task was to count sequences of numbers in a vector, for which the function seqcount was created.   Counting characters in a string can be done using char to convert a string to a vector of characters and then applying seqcount to that vector.Stuart

My university used 3.0 and at home I have 3.1. Not allowing 3.1 files to be opened on 3.0 seems like a money grubbing thing. I find it hard to believe that the programs are so different that they are completely incompatible. PTC seems to be just trying to force people to pay them more money.

I am working on the JONSWAP wave spectra analysis in-line with DNV-RP-F109 and having trouble soling the equations in the attached worksheet. The standard indicates that the wave number can be established by iteration from the transcendental equation, but I can’t for the life of me work out how to do it. Mike

I have an application where I am using a master worksheet to call functions from several other worksheets. I have just found that if I call a function from an included worksheet which then calls another function from that same included worksheet it does not work and treats the first function as an undefined. Just to clarify I have defined several functions in my Analysis Worksheet, let's call them Function A, Function B and Function C. The Analysis Worksheet is included in the Main Worksheet above the call for all the Functions. What I am finding is that I can call Function A but when I try to call Function B is says that Function B is not defined. The only difference between Function A and Function B is that Function B calls Function C. Has anyone else seen this problem? Do I just have to work around this or is there some way to fix this?Thanks,Justin

Hello,How can I create assumptions about vector elements?  It seems that my approach below is not working:

  This worksheet evaluates the performance of AC circuit using VB scriptand one slide control acting as a voltage gain control, with multipleinputs and outputs. Hi, everyone,If I have a 100 by 100 matrix and I want to extract its 10 to 20, 40 to 50 and 70 to 80 rows and columns,Is there a easier way rather than submatrix the rows first and then the columns and use stack or augment to assemble the submatrice?Such as define a index of the rows and columns I want to extract and then extract the index from the matrix in Matlab?E.g, index= [10:20 40:50 70:80]K_BC=K(index, index)Best Shawn

As has been noted many time previously, entering an https address into the M15 hyperlink dialog produces an invalid path/address error.   To add insult to injury, as well as the annoyance of having to remember this when the problem occurs, the dreaded dialog even appears when linking to a Community thread!Given that a simple fix is to remove the "s", why don't PTC just fix the problem (they could release it in M050 along with a fix to the limitation on matrix display size "feature" that got introduced in M040)?Stuart

I'm using matchcad prime 3.1 for the very first time to solve curve intersections as below (which I have a ton of). I'm attaching a simple file that uses AdamsBDF to solve a spring/mass motion problem.  I added units to everything and it worked perfectly, but then I added an "if" statement that generates a ramp function and tried to use it in the D(t,X) matrix and I get a units error even though the ramp function spits out Newtons.You can reproduce the above by toggling which F(t) is disabled or enabled.If you want to look at the file (Prime 3.0 format) and provide feedback, I would appreciate it! 

Hi,The following is the equation in which , the value "f" should be zero, but the integration limit has to change with the y1 value,i.e if y1<z1 the equation will be same as shown,if z1<y1<z2 , then y1 must be in the P2(z) integration limit ,also if z2<y1,then y1 must be in the P3(z) integration limit Keeping the fact that using trial and error "f "must be zero and the equation must change the integration limit as per the "y1" value.                                                                                           &nbsp

So I'm doing some engineering calculations and wants to solve for an unknown in a algebraic expression with only one unknown.Does MathCad have support fort that?
