I have a spreadsheet which calculates the reaction, deflection and slope of a HDPE pipeline as it is being flooded to the seabed for a given water depth. There is 7 no. simultaneous equations which have to be solved in order to obtain the results. My issue is that the solve block is very sensitive to the guess values, and I often find myself tweaking them until the solve block returns a solution which can be extremely tedious. - Changing Ra to 50 in this instance. So my question is, can this method be improved and could the equations be solved symbolically?Cheers,Mike
I have been using Odesolve successfully for a system of equations. But when I make (to me a seemingly innocuous) change, adding a term (that is zero in this case), I get the error "This value must be a function but has the form: any1". What I am doing wrong?
Looking for an sample how to do DOE using taguchi Method. Any case studies on automotive will do great help.
hiIm serching for a push button script that open worksheet then print it,but dont show the worksheet just show print.is it possible to do?I have script of open worksheet and print but i cant merge them.
HiFor 1-dimensional element method analysis of a multi-layered soil system I need a vector that has value 1 ateach node which is connecting two soil layers and 0 in every other node. The number of nodes in total is n and the number of soil layers is m.As attached is a sheet with my tries and with explonations about what I'm trying to achieve. My solution makes now a matrix with correct amount of nodes and value of 1 at each node that connects two layers, but it forms a matrix with m columns, and I don't know how to combine the columns into a single vector.Thank you for your help.
I’ve used mathcad years ago, but I have not used it much since ptc switched it to prime.I’m trying to solve partial differential equation, shown below:After some simplification, the equation will be this:I can write Tm as a 3rd order polynomial trend line.finally after some reorganization the final equation:I'd like to plot V(t) vs. tAm I on the right path? Last time I solved differential equations was 20 years ago, and I was not good at it I still have some weak memories of differential equation solving when both the function and the first derivative are in the same equation. I tried to solve this in excel with numerical differentiation but that one did not yielded good results either.Any help if greatly appreciated. thank you!
Hi, I don’t know what it is called, but I am looping for this functionality:Give a vector with the same height as a matrix, find the matrix who’s row values are the matrix row values multiplied by the row value in the vector. See attached image for a clearer explanation. Is there an easy way to do this in MathCAD? I have found a work around, but it is not elegant.ThanksOliver
I'm sorry but this is so basic... but how do you set up a sheet and solver block for this? Perimeter = 2x + 2y area = x*y. What are the shortest lengths, x and y, so we can have a plot of 1000? Thanks to all. I know using "minimize" is key...
Hello, Everyone. Need help to create a program function M ? Thanks in advance for your time and help. Regards. Loi.
Hello everybody,Please I need someone to help me about who can I do a factorization to the spectrum of three signals in Mathcad 14. I mean for each spectrum and then I want to do the factorization for all signals. Thanks in advance for any help.Best Regards,
Hello everyone, Please I want to know the way of using the signal averaging in Mathcad 14. I have three signal tests and I want to do averaging for their spectrum. Please if anyone have an experience with that I will be so grateful to email me on " -" with any useful information.Best Regards
HiThis is my first time making use of Mathcad. Would anyone be willing to convert these two legacy files please?(I am using the Prime 3.0 trail.) Werner ExingerI noticed that you are very active and helpful on the community. Could you help please?
I've always had issues with temperature units, early Mathcad had "R" and "K," for Rankine and Kelvin; these made sense, they were confusing but it was the confusion we had been dealing with since we learned about "hot" and "cold."Then we were given the Centigrade and Fahrenheit scales, and if that didn't suffice, the "difference in temperature" scales.I began the attached sheet to calculate the change in size as a function of temperature change. I got my answer, but I also got an aggravating question. Can anyone explain the attached (version 15) sheet; how can -321 °F not be -321 °F?
I am using a parametric solution of a solve block within another solve block. I would like to use a smaller TOL for the parametric solution (i.e. the inner problem) than for the outer block. If I set the TOL before creating the solve block for the parametric solution, does the TOL get set permanently for the parametric solution? Or, will the current value of TOL be used whenever a parametric solve block solution is encountered?
HiIs there a way to define e.g. 10 as default font size globally for the whole document or even for the program (Prime 3.1)?Regards,Lukas
I am using excel component in Mathcad to display output. Input to excel component changes based on previous calculations. Sometimes there are manual inputs in excel components. These numbers stay there if not deleted manually. Is there any way to clean all residual data in excel and then populate output in excel component? Thanks.
In our new project "psycho-mathematics" we have developped a program in mathcad 11/14 able to calculate presumable human behaviour as a function of certain boundary conditions. We would like to integrate this theory into robotics for integrating human properties.Robotics often use "Python" as a common programming language. Are there possibilities to transform programs written in mathcad into "Python"?
Is this possible to do? In the attached i have an if statement in the solve block but not getting an answer. I am a MathCAD newbie, so any help or guidance isa ppreciated
Hi all,I am getting an error as ' Found a number with magnitude greater than 10^307 while trying to evaluate the expression'Can someone help me to overcome this.I attached my code below,Thanks.
MathCAD newbie here so apologies in advance if this is a dumb question,Is it possible to have a conditional statement inside a solve block? I have a problem setup that I am trying to solve for a variable. But not sure i set it up correctly.I have a conditional statement inside the solve block, and getting errorGuidance would be appreciated
Why am I getting the "This function cannot be used here." error. My constants have no units.
In the attached prime worksheet I am graphing the shear and moment in a beam. Is there a simple (maybe 1 or 2 lines) for determining the minimum or maximum values on either graph? The three lines I have for determining the maximum is convoluted and inaccurate (the maximum is 8kip*ft, not 5.9 kip*ft).
Hi there! I'm messing around with the start of a Mathcad Prime 3.0 model of a hydraulic valve and have built a set equations that partially define it. I stopped because there are several things happening that confuse me. Please take a look and see if you can explain the issues and help me work around them.1. In my odesolve statement you'll see the one variable name turned green. I can change the variable's name and it still happens. Why??? And what does it indicate?2. The A(t) formulas can't generated a negative value. The pi/2 vertical shift to atan forces its low limit to 0. Yet you'll see on the graph that this value dips negative3. The initial values for the Q's don't show up correctly at x=0, but they calculate correctly further out in the x-axis4. The A(t) plots (red and black) should be 180 degrees out of phase with each other. One's min should coincide with the other's max, but there's a shift. Think of it this way...
