Mathcad

Hello,   I am new to Mathcad. I am using MATHCAD 5.0.0.0. I am trying to define a very simple function described below. Any help will be really appreciated.   Say x=2, y=3   if z=4 x=x and y=y else  x=y and y=x   I tried defining a third variable. But was not able to do it inside if statement.   Thanks

Before I whine, I need to preface this by saying that I am not a hater of the chart tool. I have been giving it a try in the past couple of days in order to fully give it a chance. Certain things I like, such as titles, legends, trace line colors for plots, background colors, and some few other stuffs. But these are all esthetics that are primarily relevant to a secretary and not an engineer or a scientist. For an engineer or a scientist, functionality carries priority over esthetics. After trying most of the options, I must say the following:   The chart tool is a disappointment for the following reasons:-   1) It handles units terribly. I have no clue why PTC went back to the dividing option rather than keeping the "bracketing" option which was found in the previous versions of Prime.   2) One cannot use defined variables and calculated outputs as chart labels. Sure one can define these parameters in the X and Y inputs but if one minimizes that "definition window" (whi

Good Morning Community, Attached is a copy of Mathcad file for Wind load for gable structure. The function is turned "Red" and I do not know how to trouble shoot the problem. Please see if any one can help.   Moses  

I am trying to define a piecewise function in Mathcad to move around singularities, but the program breaks down at the singularities even when they are not called. I created a program that evaluates one function if "w" is greater than or equal to "r", and another function if "w" is less than "r". The second function has a singularity if "w" is equal to "r" but theoretically it shouldn't need to evaluate that function in that case, as "w" isn't less than "r". The program still returns an error in that case though. Is there a way to set up the program such that MathCad will not try to evaluate the term in the false if statement   Example: function = if w >= r                     pi/2                 if w < r                     atan(1/(w-r))      

I tried to follow advice given in another thread to do this (See file): Mathcad complains about the units of 's', but that's not the problem. I want to substitute i*omega for s.  Under Symbolics, Variable > substitute is greyed out. Pressing CTRL-SHFT-. gives a place holder, which disappears, followed by the arrow shown. I tried re-starting Mathcad, but I still get the same problem. Of course, Mathcad says s is undefined, but I suppose it wouldn't need to be defined for the substitution operation.

HiWhile working in mathcad prime 5.0 i had an error and file was closed. Fortunetly the backup version has been made automaticly but it doesn't open and appeares an information that the file type is not supported.Can I restore somehow my progress in my file?

See the attached file. When I try invlaplace in Mathcad 15 with a simple s-function, it works, but with a slightly more complex function, it doesn't give a useful result: I am a very infrequent user of Mathcad, so please bear with me if I ask stupid questions. I do not understand the repeated 'invlaplace' and the 's,t' part of the result. I expected a function of t that I could plot after including the numerical value of omega. Setting t=35 and [omega] = 2*pi*t doesn't help. I tried putting ', omega' after the first 'invlaplace',  but it produces no more useful result.

I have been a long time user of MathCAD. v15 is great for calculationa but poor on reports. Prime appears to have been an improvement on the report writing. For this reason I have started to learn how the program works. One of options I have been using is eBooks. I is great at organizing information and reports in MathCAD. One functions that is particulaly helpful is hyper linking. Does Prime have this functions? Thanks for the help in advance. David Tg

I cannot figure out how to change the font type and size on an axis in any plot. I cannot see the values on an axis without zooming in. Copying a plot to paste into another document leaves me with a graph that is nearly unuseable. U can change the axis label fonts easily enough but the actual values on the axis is impossible. I certainly must be overlooking where the command(s) are to do this.

Hey guys,   I was working on two files where mathcad suddenly hanged and shut down, now the files can open but last few edits are missing. How do I recover the missing edits? Can someone help? I also noticed two new files on the desktop (where original Mathcad files are) .tmp, now I attached only one file but not sure which .tmp belongs to it.   The files are attached

Hi guys as you see I am using this matrix and want to find eigenvalues and vector but dont understand the difference between two numeric and symbolic solutions, why are they different?   Thanks

Werner_E recently instructed me on how to utilize the root function but now that I try and implement it I think that Prime is manipulating the storage of that functions return values in new variables which leads to inexplicable problems down the line.    Here on page 2, I use root and store the values in alpha and beta however Prime sets their label to "keyword" and presumably that is interfering with the integration on page 3. I try changing the label with the drop down menu but PTC is not having it and the label reverts back to their pre-set. What gives?

Hello PTC community,   I searched all over the internet, but i could not find a solution for my problem, with my limited knowledge of mathcad usage (civil engineering student). I have attached a picture of my table that i have to interpolate the values. it kills me that I can not solve it. i have looked at all topics about 2d interpolation, but i couldn't not understand to reproduce.   I will be very grateful for any help!
