Mathcad

This worksheet will give the design of in-line cavity resonator used in my oscillator 45-years ago. The tube was 5893-pencil type or 2C40-lighthouse type. At that time there was no Mathcad available and it shows the difficulties in calculations without Mathcad. Later designs were based on microwave semiconductors based on Y/S parameters or Bessel functions for low phase noise. Enjoy reading.

This is an issue that I encountered earlier when I was taking an electronics technology course. Obviously, what is meant by a vector in Mathcad is not the same as what is meant by a vector in my physics text. Now, I'm sure that there is some system for manipulating and using polar coordinates, but to the best of my knowledge polar coordinates and vectors are not the same thing. Polar coordinates, by definition, do not have x-components and y-components. To resolve them would take as much work as resolving a vector. Isn't there some "inline" method of vector addition and subtraction so I don't have to keep resolving them?I have some (very basic) grasp of user defined functions. Is that the way to go here? Also, is there some way to typeset vector notation? (the horizontal arrow above the letter)?

In my worksheet , the minimization couldnot be able to do, it take too much of time to do the minimization. In the picture that I have added to this post there is an assignment where I have added four vectors.  In method one i have the lenght and a angle, but can I convert it to a coordinate?In method two I have the opposite problem my result Fres is a coordinate but can i convert it to a lenght and an angle?

Hi Mathcad'ers,It's been quite a few years since I last worked with Mathcad, and I don't remember if/how Mathcad could solve a system of equations with intermediate variables.The sheet that I have put together results in an error for undefined variables if I do not place guess values for the intermediate variable. Do I need to put a guess value for these?If I do set a guess value, I get an error that "this value must be a function".What's the best way of addressing this?The details for the sheet are:I would like to determine a,b,o,and q as a function of g and s (inputs).l,t, and p are constants.j,o1,o2,b1,b2 are intermediate variables.Thanks for the help,Raphael

Attachments describe my issue.  Goal of program is to extract all relevant rows from a larger matrixCabDataCu for further analysis. The program is set to test for "0" in column 1 of CabDataCu and ifnot "0" extracts the row.   Programs works properly to ignore matrix rows below 5 and extracts 1-5.The problem that befuddles me now is that it misses, i.e. does not ignore or jump over matrix Row4 with a "0" in the first column.  I have tried several variants of the program statements and all haveended up with same result.  Any ideas?

  Hi Helpers, The attached Mathcad Worksheet computes correct results.  It might appear long/complex.  However, the questions relate to the simple input of two variables at the very top of the worksheet and the simple 3-line Given-Minimize Block at the end of the program.  At the top of the program, the D and t arrays are parameterized with parameter OD1, OD2, and WT1, WT2, respectively.  Specific values of these parameters to minimize the function “weight” are sought in the Given-Minimize block at the end of the program.  Here are the questions:All parameters (i.e., OD1,…,WT2) must be provided explicitly in the minimize function of the Given-Minimize block. Array of parameters are not allowed. Recently i got a question while using the mathcad file .my question is why calculating result is different between excel(before using exel solver's optimization algorithm) and Mathcad(before using Minerr function)? I know that after computing an "exel solver" or "Minerr function" their value would be apparently different, because excel solver is using an GRG algorithem and Mathcad is using other algorithm such as Quasi-Newton.  It looks same at a glance, but if you see carefully, their values are not same. And of course i put the same 18 parameter values in excel and Mathcad.

I am using Mathcad Prime 3.0 and I can't find how to paste inside a text block as plain text from i.e. Word to Mathcad.I was unable to find anything in this blog or the help documentation. Thanks!

Hi,I am a new MathCAD Prime user and I was wondering if it was possible to store frequently used equations so that I could call them back on screen. For example, if some one was working on fluids projects, they could insert the Bernouilli Equation easily without having to retype everything. Ideally this would display the equation and all the variables to enter known data into. Also, is it possible to insert data tables and interpolate between then as in a thermo problem requiring steam tables. This would be a great help to students. Thanks!‌

Hi, everybody.I met with an issue on solving for flue gas temperature which is the upper limit of an integral within an equation.but when I deleted some items in the equation, the answer can be given by the solver block.I m confused with this for a couple of days. Is this caused by the unit system? It seems that using dimensionless numbers takes effect, but this is not very convenient.The attached file is in mathcad 15 format.Does anybody give any suggestion on this problem?

I am solving a system of ODE's. Solutions look good (I am checking against plots in a book) except when I plot two of the output functions against each other to get a phase plane plot. Changing range of axes does not seem to help. Range of axes does not correspond to range for the individual functions. What am I missing?

MathCAD Prime 3.1 crashes on activating "Text formatting" font style dropdown-list and typing in the font name.  This depends on whether I have opened an existing document or a new untitled document. Hello everyone.I'm having a problem solving a tiny equation with units and hope you can help me find where I go wrong.As you can see on the picture I get the right answer if I isolate Alpha myself, so I'm guessing that its how I do things that is the problem.Sorry its in danish, but its says "Angle acceleration under breaking of a flywheel and axel"The values on the top are defined further up in the document."I" is inertia.
