Mathcad

Hey, I am unable to solve my find block. I've defined my 2 equations, with a total of 2 unknowns, and have initial guesses for both. When I try to solve for the 2 variables, it says that my find function is undefined.Anyway to solve this?Im using mathcad 15. thanksIn the file, its under "Analysis".

Hello,I was going to install the Excel add-in to see what advantages I could leverage from excel using mathcad, but there is an issue installing. My question is has anybody else been able to get the add-in to install. I am currently running Office 2010, and am assuming this is the reason for installation failure as I suspect the location of files installed has changed. Hello,I am trying the PTC Mathcad Express 3.0, but just on the beginning I have met with an annoying problem with entering parentheses, for example to write y(x). On the Czech keyboard layout the "(" is located second key right to the letter "P" , the "(" is on the same key, but entered with shift. The problem is, that when I press the "(" key, in case of entering mathematical expression, nothing appears, nor the whole "( )" as written in help . The only way how to enter parenteses is to use Operator/Algebra menu and this is very annoying, because the parenteses are used very often. It is interesting, that in case of entering text in text block the parentheses working without problem, so I suppose there is an error in entering the mathematical expression on the keyboard.Has somebody find a way how to solve this problem/error it withouth changing to different keyboard layout?Regards,Zetka.

Hello,After reviewing the documentation for hypergeometric functions, Mathcad Prime 3.0 does not accept comlex numbers as arguments for this type of functions.I am wondering if anyone has found a workaround this hurdle or is it just simply not possible at all in Mathcad to compute results of hypergeometric functions with complex arguments.Maybe it's time to move on to a more capable software?Thanks in advance for your help.Regards,Josué

Hi, I have Mathcad 13.1 that I used to use with Windows XP. Now my computer has windows 8 and I want to install MC13 onto it. I tried it but it doesn't properly install on Windows 8. Is it possible to install MC13 onto Windows 8? Thanks. Mark.

Hi..The Excel calculation given below in each step needs to check the current and stroke and import the force value from mathcad.The Force thus obtained will give the current for the second step, which along with the corresponding stroke value again the force has to be taken from mathcad.Is it posiible to automate this process using Mathcad by reading the excelsheet?I have attached my worksheets herewith.

I'm taking Jason Hafner's edX course Waves and Optics https://www.edx.org/node/3261#.VF-6xfnF-So .  I've been trying to use Mathcad Prime 3.0 to solve the various problem sets.  The ability to control units automatically is a great advantage although sometimes this makes you think hard about making equations dimensionally correct.  Recently I tried to solve a problem with the symbolic "series" command.  I had mixed success.  Here's the problem.We are taught that any problem  f(x) = mass*d2x/d2t has a hidden form -k*x = mass*d2x/d2t which is Newton's Law for Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) of a spring.  If f(x) is non-linear, i.e., it has terms like x^2, e^x or sin(x), we can linearize it close to an equilibrium point using the Taylor's series for f(x). Hijust looked over some old custom functions from Tom Gutman.He sometimes uses substitute in his functions, but I cannot fiugure out how he types it IN the programm.looks something like: if I try to explicitly type subsittute (ersetzen) it gets interpreted as a variable, if I use the symbolic -> subsittute it gets writen besides the funvction-definition.Cannot figure it out for MC 15 and MCP3?What's the trick?Need this to define a gradient function in MCThnkxWerner

Hi,This could be more of a conceptual question than mathcad probelm...Here in this file, I have a set of equations representing a feed back model. According to my what i am expecting with the graphs.. like the N.s/c.s graph. the N.m/C.m graph should also be constant over time without fluctuating over time.. I am not sure what causes this... can any one help me figuring this out?

Hi,I'm having trouble with units when using exponentiated variables. I'm trying to assign a variable a value (fck) while having another variable depend on the first one (fctm). It works fine if I only multiply the first variable with a constant, but if I also try to exponentiate the first variable my units (MPa) get messed up (see fctmERROR). However if I replace the first variable with the numerical value I assigned to it my units works as they should (see fctmWORKING).Trying to forcibly remove the messed up unit only breaks the whole thing (fctmERROR2).I have attached an image to better understand the problem:Also attached is a file with the error in question.Im using MathCAD Express Prime 3.0 F000 (2013.09.12.003/3.0.0.194) running on Win 8.1 x64

HiI'm trying to make a 3D plot, but gets the error "The function did not evaluate to a pure real value".I don't understand this, since the function seems to work just fine, when I enter values into it.

A few months ago my office equiped me with a "tablet computer"--in this case a Dell Venue Pro, which is functionally equivalent (more or less) to the better-known Microsoft Surface Pro. I upgraded to Prime 3, and eventually got it installed and licensed. Then the trouble started--it will not work on the road, because of "invalid license."After a lot of effort, the problem was tracked to the fact that these computers do not have a resident Ethernet adapter. That adapter is in the docking station that I use when in the office. The license is keyed to the MAC address of the Ethernet--i.e., to the docking station hardware. So I can use Mathcad on the road as long as I carry the docking station with me! Kind of defeats the purpose, no?I have worked out some alternatives with PTC support but none of them are practical or accomplish the flexibility I expected. That is one problem. The other problem is that PTC does not state this as a requirement of Mathcad usage.Just another example of PTC's

Hello PTC developers, I think this has been discussed here in 2012 concluding that it is a bug!. Now in 2014, any update on when this is going to be fixed if it is going to be fixed at all?In my case the first column read OK except for the first row. The row looks is shifted left with the first value missing. also the headers get shifted right. See attached sample.The file is read well using 'file input'.It's a shame as READCSV & WRITECSV can be much more handier than using 'input/output file'.Many thanks,Ahmad

Friends,after defining f(x,y): x / y , I tried to plot as an 3D chart.Unfortunately, that's not possbile and resulting in an error message.

Way back in the days of the Collaboratory there was a thread http://communities.ptc.com/message/45030#45030 discussing how to get longer animations beyond 999 (or 9999!).The main point is that the dialog box is sized in one (microsoft) way and the characters being typed in by some (microsoft) font size. As the versions have come and gone the available space for the ### characters has reduced, limiting the animation length.Unfortunately the pictures have been lost, so I'm wondering if anyone knows the right settings for changing the screen DPI (if this is what is need) to get a bigger dialog box, and also to change the system font that Mathcad is using (to something smaller) so that I can get at least 9999 (four) digits of animation.Ideally I'd like to be able to animate at regular display DPI, yet get at least 1100 FRAMES (i.e. enter 4 characters in the dialog box)I'm using V15M030 on XP (home) and on W7 (work).Philip

I have an error by using Minimize & Maximize in Mathcad 15.But all is OK in Prime 3Why?

Hello PTC community, thanks for taking your time to check this post out. I dont know if mathcad can do this but im pretty sure it can for what Ive seen. I want to make the sum of multiplying a component of a vector with a component of a matrice in an especific column, then with the next component of the vector with the second row in the same column and so on. Details are attached in the document. Thanks for all!   PS. If you are familiarized with chemical engineering, the problem I want to solve is a multicomponent destilation tower with the rigorous method ( I think its the Amundson-Pointnen method)
