In the old ProE environment it was possible to use the variable "HOME" to set the the path for the login-ID. In this way ist was possible to make a configuration for the users in this folder. With the start of ProE were this configuration used to create the interface. For the new UI-File this configuration is not possible. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Does anyone have experience with both of these? I am looking to find some pros/cons of each.
Good Morning Everyone, Has anyone else here created a variable radius round, where you have a few different areas that you need to add and modify, and you spend forever and a day trying to drag the little circles around the intent edge to get it where you want it? Wouldn't it be much easier (and intuitive) if after right clicking on the chain to make it a variable radius, that you can just right click anywhere on the chain and add a radius? You can right click on the handle of an existing radius to add another one, but it never goes anywhere near where I want it and I wind up dragging (and waiting for the display to update with the spinning glow ring). Just adding the "Add Radius" option to the right button menu while clicking along the chain would save so much time. You can already to this for splines, so why not a variable radius, right? Or am I completely missing something? It is Friday, right? Thanks, and have a great day. -Dave Here's an e
We're trying to evaluate Creo Illustrate for integration with our publications, documentation, service manuals and the like. Are any users tutorials available? (besides the 2 learnexchange videos) Preferably written step-by-steps would be nice. I'm looking for a simple intro to fundamentals and a few basic lessons for producing remove and replace procedures and animations. Is there a comparison with Creo View acailable? Are there any CI user groups out there? Thank you, - Mike
Hi,I would like to get the line style of 2d entity inside a sketch what are all the possible API's available to get the line style, whether it isPRO_LINESTYLE_SOLID PRO_LINESTYLE_DOT or whateverExisting API's are not stable ProCurvePersistentLinestyleGet Please tell us a alternate API to get the line type. Thanks in advance,Regards,
The company I work for is looking at ways to minimise paper around the building. One thing that has been considered is using screens dotted around the shop floor to view drawings. currently we publish through a data management system using WF5. In order to maintain security I believe will have to use a seat of this data management software to view direct from the storage location. So my question to anyone that may know is as the subject.
In Creo Illustrate Options / Active Figure / Model, "Thick Lines" show as black; if I click on the color sample and then the More button in the Choose Custom Color box, the "color" shows as RGB 0,0,0.(For what it's worth, "Thin Lines" show as 128, 128, 128, which is a medium gray)This should be black.But...When I save the figure as an Illustration File in CGM format and wind up with it in Adobe Illustrator, the thick lines show as 0,0,0 BUT with 50% opacity! Thin lines show as 128, 128, 128, but also with 50% opacity. What's going on here?I'd really like especially the Thick Lines to be 100% opaque.Ideas? Thanks in advance,Tom Burton
Hello,We're new at using Creo View. The problem we have at this moment is that parts from outside the project folder will not show in Creo view. Our ProEngineer (WF3) is configured with two search.pro files. One is for our library (search.pro) and the other is for retrieving parts from other projects (project_search.pro).What can be done to also include the files from the library and other project folders into Creo View? Thanks in advance.
Hi All,When we access the sketch geometry of a flat geometry it is not coming correct, sketch coordinate gives random value. sketch is not updated correctly. when we open the sketch manually and running the program again it comes correct. Any one can suggest what API is required to correct the situation without physically opening and correcting the model. Thanks,Joseph
Hi,I want to install new video codecs for saving video in an "Animation" module to other video formats (AVI, MOV, MP4). Could someone please tell me which program (that I need to install) contains the necessary/codecs are listed below (in accordance with solution (https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS23319)?Codec Name Description:WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WMV3 //Windows Media Video 9WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WMV2 //Windows Media Video 8WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WVC1 //Windows Media Video 9, SMPTE VC-1WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WMVA //Windows Media Video 9 Advanced ProfileWMMEDIASUBTYPE_MP4S //ISO MPEG4 Version 1WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WVP2 //ISO MPEG4 Version 1.1WMMEDIASUBTYPE_MPEG2_VIDEO //MPEG 2
Power connections are usually bolt type connections. This kind of connection make wires come normal to Z axys. Usually, the same component can be wired from different sides depending the unit it is mounted to. Or can be wired from different sides on the same unit. This makes that you should create as much CSYS (ports) as directions you think you will come from. Every CSYS with a different name. But when you work with RSD an export logical informatio to Creo you usually only have one port name. To have as much ports as directions on RSD would not be reliable. An entry_port that could allow connecting cables 360º around the Z axys (or angle adjustable?) would solve this. A property for entry_ports could be added to be able to chose wich kind of connection allows that port. Example of a real connections:
Its sort of obvious to most of us that line wight can help clarify, particualrly on high resolution displays and with the new Creo light ground default display. Its the equivalent of bold v plain text. Just about every CAD package I have used, other than ProE / Creo has had the ability to vary line weights on screen, even my $60 copy of TurboCAD Mac has it. Just about every technical drawing system in existence uses different line thicknesses for enhanced clarity, technical pens used to be in multiple thicknesses. Why does PTC, twenty plus years into their CAD development not allow users to alter line weight attributes in sketches? I put in an enhancement request when it was Proe 2000, lots has moved on, but this hasn't. Am I alone in wanting this?
Currently lights can be defined in parts and sub assemblies but they become un-available in other assemblies or parent assemblies. Ideally one owuld define a light fixture with a light source and then place it into a parent sub-assembly to create a rendering. The parent assembly would be able to use the light definition from its sub assemblies and parts. This is not current functionality in spite of being obvious.
Once I have found the drawings doing a search I should be able to place a checkmark by both objects then right click and have a Compare in CreoView option... Both versions of the drawing are automatically set up on Creo View to perform the compare.
Hello,I'm looking for the release notes for creoview 2.0 m030. (What's new ?)is there a link on the PTC pages or some Powerpoint Sildes with the news ?Thank you ...Ralf

Searched for decals and textures in Creo View and PDMLink and only info I could find was this CS https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS8577Still no updates in 10/10.1 to show decals in Creo View when opened from PDMLink?
WHY PTC? Why!??I use Isodraw for illustration, and Isodraw 7.1/7.3 does not open*.ASM files. nor Parametric exports PVZ files.WHY PTC? Why!??thanks for the heads up PTC.
Hello all,I would like to add a letter to some of my callout numbers in IsoDraw 7.2. I am right-clicking on the callout and selecting Element info... from the menu. When I add any alpha character--for example, "A"--to the text field, I get an error that says "Invalid value. The expression 'A' is invalid!" The PTC help material does not address this. For this project, I am able to output to PDF and edit the characters in the PDF. I see no reason why this should not be allowed. Is this a known issue? If anyone has heard of this, please let me know.Thank you.
Hi all.I am currently animating the firing sequence of a colt auto handgun with the intention of using the same animation with different camera angles and configurations (cutaway etc.) to show different interactions during this cycle. This was going quite successfully up until I wanted to do a couple of things.1. I have animated the spent case being ejected up to the point it is leaving the gun and want to animate the spent case for a second or two arcing away into space with a tumbling motion before fading it out. So far I can't see a way to do using the RECORD CONTENT method as there were no effects to show motions like 'wiggle' or 'oscillate' or ways to compound both the arcing and tumbling. For now I am simply doing it manually frame-by-frame adding a capture after manually guessing the distance and rotation. Q. Is there something already in there I have missed?2. As the gun contains many springs which compress and extend during this animation sequence, again I find no way of compr
After I create an animation in IsoDraw (.iso) and veiw it in IsoView, how do I export it as a file that animates in Arbor Text, Frame Maker or a PDF?
I would like to know if there was any new functionality added to M040 or was it a only a maintenance build? Thanks

When I draft surface its ID is changed after this. What does happen after this? Every operation that I do whith drafted surface now depends on this new surface ID. If I delete draft operation in history automatically some children operation is deleleted. For me it can be prevented by ID conservation. I understand that compatibility with previos versions can be compromised so my proposal is to introduce it as switch option in configuration or manage it directly with kernel. In this way only user mange it. It could be a good thing to keep the same algorythm for all geometry. Another problem is , after removing from extrude sketch of some segment (arc, line ...) Draft feature (that include surface created with deleted segment) disappear. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. My files will turn to 1KB after save. we don't know when, but it does. Anyone have the same problem?I lucked out because we have recover software, and i save often, but do you? Most of my projects are monthlong animations and product structure.
