Trying to leverage Windchill's planning capabilities, and I have been wondering if anyone else has looked at this. At my place of employment, we have functional Programs and Projects. In Windchill we have logical ways to look at these (Programs, Products and Projects) and corresponding planning tools within each of these.   In my example below, We have Program X which has 4 dedicated resources. Within the program we have 3 projects. 1 of which is under configuration control, so it is a Product context in Windchill. The other two projects are in early formulation, so we are using Project contexts. Each of these projects has a subset of resources to carry out activities in the plans   Laying this out logically in Windchill, I want a Program context that has a plan (and a network including the product and two project contexts). Hi, When creating packages we run into the fact that in the collector all underlying documents are added to a package. This used to be OK, but recently we started using Referenced Documents as well. The problem I'm facing now is that when I create a normal WorkPackage using the default settings in Windchill, the system includes all documents, so also the reference documents:But I would like to have it include all documents, except the reference document type.I know I can manually exclude it from the collection rules using Edit Filter and then Type FilterHowever this is a manual action everytime and I think there should be a better way. Therefor I started looking around on the support pages and there I found an article describing this issue with a solution description, but I don't know how to implement:https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS157909 Could you help me by pointing me in the right direction? Hi all change objects experts around Is there ready tool in Windchill to list all change objects that are linked to an given object or to any of its dependency objects? For example I would like to get list of all problem reports, change requests, and change notices that have affected any time to any documents or parts needed make given WTPart. If there is no ready tool can this be achieved with report generator or some kind of advanced search?

We are in the middle of testing WC 12 and Creo 8.  The image shows a structure I'm testing.  This is a typical formed sheet metal part (SM_RH), a flat state of this part (SM_RH-600) and then the raw material for the flat state (MATL_1234).  SM_RH would be in our Design context.   The -600 and the raw material need to be in the Manufacturing context. I work in Mfg Engineering and work in our Manufacturing context where I have read/write.  I have only read rights in the Design context. What is the best way for me to freely add the -600 and then the raw material the -600 item when I don't have rights to check out the SM_RH item?  My goal is to create an MBOM so the entire structure can be passed to another system.

This probably is not possible but, I am working on implementing revision/version control at my company. When windchill was introduced the  version control was not really used and there was a lot of legacy data. Is there a way to change the Windchill revision/version to the creo parameter that was used? The revision can be updated in windchill but I would need to do this on a large scale. The creo parameter is mapped to windchill but does not usually match the Windchill version.

Hello,We are currently using Windchill version 11.1 M020-CPS17. The contacts/entities that are in our Windchill QMS People and Places are sourced from another system where they are currently maintained. I receive a weekly report in Excel format with new additions and changes which I maintain in Windchill somewhat manually. For new additions I utilize the Import/Export tool and copy/paste the information into xml files for import. For changes, to maintain a trail of previous addresses I deactivate the current contact and then add a new contact with the same Alternate Identifier and the updated information. The import tool will not allow import of an entity with an Alternate Identifier that already exists in the system. So those need to be fully manually input. Recently the weekly files have grown quite a bit making the process quite time consuming. I’m reaching out to see if others have this issue of trying to maintain the People and Places in Windchill with information from other syste

Hi All, Rename of an object to greater than 80 Character is possible for one of the object. Where as when tried rename few other objects, it says "The length of name must be 0 and 80". Not sure how it allowed for one of the object and why not for others?
