Hi,can anyone help?We are able to install Creo 2 on our school network, thats no problem. When students log onto their own profiles, (which only allows them to see a limited amount of drives on our servers) and go to open a file (File - Open) they are then able to see the entire school network and servers, giving them access to everything, creating a major secutiy issue. My tech guys and managers have either given up or cant work it out. I have 3 staff trained, and over 100 students across 3 key stages ready to use it.Has anyone come across this problem before? Im not a IT technician so I cant give you much information, but is there anything I can try or tell someone to try?Any information will be greatly received.Stuart
Hello,I'm a Mathcad Newbie but need to calculate some stuff for my FEM laboratory. My Problem is I don't really know how to work with functions in Mathcad Prime 2.Please check what is wrong with my calculation run for "w"I want to have w as a function of x. Also want to plot the curve later. What is wrong with my definition of w? Please help me!In the following you can see my definitions and tries of calculation Thanks a lot for your time & support!
Teachers and students using Creo are now very familiar with solid modelling tools like extrude, revolve and variable section sweep and many are now beginning to use the freestyle tools first introduced in Creo 1.0.Not many schools are making use of the ISDX advanced surfacing tools that have been in most versions of Pro|ENGINEER and are available in the Academic Editions of Creo. Australian teacher Huu Huynh is exceptional having created this Toyota 86 using Creo. Huu has very kindly uploaded a series of step-by-step videos showing how he did this. Thanks Huu.
Could your students design a new livery for the Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTE car?Aston Martin Racing in partnership with Gulf have launched a competition and the winner plus a friend will be VIP guests of Aston Martin Racing and Gulf for the 2013 Le Mans event! Entries can be on paper, electronic or, how about a Creo model? Details of the competition are on the web site.http://www.mygulfastonmartinracingcar.com/Good luck!
This design was prompted by Bob Cater in Wales. He was describing the Visconti Divina Proportione fountain pen which comes with a lovely three legged calliper.A similar calliper could be useful in product design courses so students can measure existing products and determine the proportions of their own designs. The ZIP file is attached containing a PDF, Creo models and a dxf for laser cutting. Start by reading the PDF.If you use this in your teaching please post feedback and examples.
I have a part that can either in one of two positions, in service or stowed. I need to be able to quickly swap the part between these two positions while my professor looks on. By quickly I mean one or two clicks, not 5 min redoing the mating every time. How can I gave a part two switchable matings?
Hello,I am having a persistent problem for last 2 days. I am unable to generate the license file for Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.0 School Edition. Whenever I click on "Generate File" during the installation, it says "PTC Setups was unable to contact the PTC Download Server. If you use a proxy server with your web browser to access internet you will need to specify that server now for PTC Setup." I am afraid I am connected to internet, besides I don't use proxy. But it keeps giving me this error always. I brought my laptop at the University's IT Help Desk for installation as well, they told me that it might be because the License Server is temporarily down. Could anyone please tell me what the real issue is?Regards,Absar
After installing creo on my notebook i couldnt start the program. there is only a message like "Creo from PTC doesnt work anymore" and then it crash down.Do anyone got the same problem?
As a sort-of-offseason project of curiosity, I've decided to try modeling a robot shooter (for Ultimate Ascent) as accurately as I can. After finally figuring out how to use the Weld application, I'm now faced with a new dilemma: when I render my nice new shooter model, the weld shows up as bright orange! I've explored a bit and found a "Weld Materials" menu, but after some experimentation and a bit of searching, I haven't found out how to actually take any of the materials in there and make them my weld material (which may or may not be the problem, but to be honest all I've learned about Creo is primarily though experimentation, so the gaps in my knowledge are many and wide). tl;dr: My welds are orange. How do I make them not orange when I render?
Hi all, hope you had a good build season. I know we have. one of the kids asked me about a good pdf sheet metal tutorial. i couldnt find one... does anyne have anything up their sleeve? thanks
Form for librarians to issue Creo to students to install Creo at home, The form records the product code issued to each student,It also provides a tear-off slip to be inserted in the DVD sleeve when the student books it out.

The Australian equivalent of D&TA for Queensland is INTAD. Browsing their web site, I stumbled across a curriculum project from Runcorn State High School on throwing sticks, also called 'booms' or boomerangs. http://www.intad.asn.au/documents/store/Boomerang_Unit_Plan.pdf It reminded me of making booms as a boy with my dad and brother. In those days we cut them out of plywood and shaping was done using hand tools like planes and spokeshaves. Isn't memory amazing, I clearly recalled the airfoil section being reversed at intersection of the two arms, the increased pitch on one arm and lift at the tip. This set me thinking whether the Freestyle tool in the Creo suite of 3D modelling software could be used to model a boom? I was amazed how easy it was! Less than ten minutes is all it took to create a shape that could be CNC machined which should fly well and 'return to sender'.Experts will probably point out things I missed or got wrong but this quick model clearly shows how quick and
I downloaded the 4.155 gb creo 2.0 student edition file from the website. I installed as per the instructions. things worked properly. My friend with a very slow internet connection wanted to install creo 2.0. I gave him the installation file. Is that appropriate ? Or should he download the file himself ?He registered with the creo student website, they gave gim the appropriate key via email and later sent along the license file. The installation occured smoothly. He also installed the license file. But when he opened creo 2.0 he encountered an error, whose screenshot has been attached. How are we supposed to proceed from here ? Hope this information helps. Thanks in advance.Gokul.

It is rare in these forums to see the product development process from initial idea through to a manufactured product. Matthew Booker is studying to be a teacher at Sheffield Hallam University and documented his design for an MP3 player that uses a number of manufacturing techniques.http://communities.ptc.com/photoAlbums/1486

I currently have Creo 2.0 Student Edition installed on my computer and have recently obtained a license for Creo 2.0 Academic Edition. Is it possible to update the license of my current installation to gain access to the student edition's locked features, without having to reinstall the program?
My assembly has, for reasons unknown, become disconnected. How do I reconnect it so parts will update again?EDIT: I backed up to an earlier version, which gets back the connections, but now I have to repeat work. It would be nice to know how to fix this for the future.
I am reusing items from a previous project that used some of the same parts in a new one. These reused items are in the folders created for the respective projects. Every time I open the assembly, all of these items are listed as missing and must be retrieved manually by navigating around the file tree. I do not have the room to make duplicates of these items, as they are themselves complex assemblies, and I cannot move them as this will break older designs that are still needed. Is there someway to hard link to them so that they load properly every time?
I had to replace an object in an assembly that was a reference for the basis object of several patterns (a rod through a hole, which is then axis patterned to generate the other rods). The definition of the root objects of the patterns each need to be updated, but Creo will not allow me to "Edit Definition", "Edit References", or do anything else to any pattern member. It will only allow access to the pattern itself, which dosen't need updating and is not wrong. I am thus unable to regenerate the assembly. I cannot delete and remake the pattern, as this will break an inordinate amount of other references. How do I get into the base pattern members to fix the referencing problem?
