We're using Creo for our FTC team, and we're trying to get a fully functional model before Worlds. In pursuit of that, we have a bunch of questions that we're hoping people can help us address. How can we model a string connection in the mechanism application. Is it possible to pull a piece via string in the model? I've attached a picture to make it more clear what we're trying to do. Is there any way to model zip ties? Especially as far as they bend and interact with the rest of the pieces and environment? In our robot we have two pairs of arms. One to hold/lift the crates (crate arms) which are unpowered, and another that holds the crate arms up (holding arms). Is there any way to model how these interact in the mechanism application? As you can see, the holding arms locks in place, preventing the crate arm from going through it. Thanks!Team 4029
We are relatively new to Windchill...we have some Creo part files that we would like to save in our Windchill project. We have downloaded the Workgroup Manager on to our Computer per the "Windchill Practical Guide." It appeared to install...yet after logging off and logging back on, the "Windchill" Menu item does not appear after opening Creo. Are we missing something?
Hi folks,I'm just posting a shameless plug for my presentation at this year's Planet PTC Live in Orlando, 2012 "Mentoring a FIRST Robotics Team, Unseen Rewards".I hope some of you out there in this forum will be able to attend! If not, I will certainly share the presentation and more here in this forum. This is also your chance to add content to this presentation. Are there specific challenges that you just haven't overcome as a mentor? Is there something that has really worked well for you and your team? I'd like to hear it!Thanks and good luck at your regionals! I hope to see you in St. Louis!!Josh
Hi there guys,I recently bought Creo Parametric 1.0 student edition and have had trouble using the software. The program will load up fine but when I click on a datum or say try to do a sketch or extrude the whole client will freeze and crash the ATI display driver ("ATI graphics driver has stopped working properly") and the driver will restart with the creo window being a blank window pane. I'm not sure whether this is a problem with Creo trying to use my graphics card or just a general problem with Creo. I did notice when looking with MSI afterburner that the GPU load on the first GPU went up to 100% while it was in progress of crashing but the second was basically idle. My comp build should be able to easily handle such a basic task so I was wondering if you guys knew any other potential reasons or possible work arounds.Build:CPU: i7 920CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14Mobo: Asus Rampage Extreme IIRam: 6 gb 1600 mhz Super Talent Chrome ramGPU: Sapphire ATI HD 5970 OC edition 2gb Vram (This
I have installed this software according to the instructions provided (including obtaining the license) and it seems to complete satisfactorily; but when I try to open it from either the shortcut installed or from the Start menu absolutely nothing happens -- no message, no blinks, and no window. The Task Manager shows no application open. So I cannot follow any of the suggestions under Mathcad Options listed in the instructions. As a side issue, two discs came in the package with the only difference in labeling being date version M005 and M010. No information was provided regarding them. I have tried installing each (after uninstalling the other), with the same apparent success in installing and failure to execute. The only deviation from the installation instructions was that instead of installing, then opening the software to obtain the license, the installation procedure incorporatedobtraining the license, so that when it finished, Mathcad was not open. And I have not found any way
I'm using windows 7 and CREO 1.0 Schools Edition.I downloaded proper PTC install manager and I tried to create License file from PTC install manager, that doesn't work. How can I get License?
Your flight should begin at the First Flight Airport next to the Wright Brothers National Memorial (See http://binged.it/zVFqX3). The challenge is like a race, but the winner is not necessarily the quickest to the finish line, but the team with the best objective function results. Your objective function results will directly affect your technical merit score. The higher the objective function value (which you seek to maximize), the higher your score. Your team score will be a composite of your design notebook score based on the National Scoring Rubric (35%), your presentation at the National 4-H Conference Center in Washington DC (30%), and technical merit / design viability (35%). The teams with the top three scores will present to a blue ribbon panel at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum who will determine the winner. You may want to review refueling options that stop at airports in route to allow you to carry more useful payload to increase your ob
I have tried to access Precision LMS through the browser in Creo 1 Parametric M020. No matter what page I try to access I consistently get a window pop up stating Script Error and below the message 'An error has occured in the script on this page.' Any suggestion? Should I only access PLMS outside of the Creo Browser? Incidentlly, I run Creo on my iMac using Parallels 7. Any advice gratefully received.
Hi, this is the first time we have used this program (Creo Elements) and we really are not sure what we are doing wrong. We have a basic drawing that we want to print, but when we select the print option, we do not see any of our Network printers or the big plotter which is also a networked device. How do we tell the program where are printers are? Thanks.

I'm running Pro/Engineering 5.0 Student Edition on Windows 7 ultimate 64bit. with intel HD graphics 3000. The processor is a intel core i7 2.70GHz. I'm running this in bootcamp on a macbook pro early 2011. The last time I ran proe was 3 months ago and it ran fine. I recently moved and have a new isp. The other day I launched the program and it starts up but then immediately shuts down? Has anybody else experianced this problem...any solutions? Thanks,Jeff
I was so stupid that I had deleted the license file and emptied the trash afterwards for some unknown reasons. And when I tried to run the setup again there was just nothing poping out after the extracting. What can I do to fix the problem?
Talk about FTC stuff.
I had a major breakdown with my computer. The hard drive broke down and had to be replaced. Which meant I lost all programs and record of my correspondence in particular ProE W4. I am now operational and recovered my issue W4 student edition. I am on the training course with Precision LMS,Self starting learning,Intro to ProE W4 - Fundamentals. Would appreciate where to find the instructions of downloading the precision LMS programs into the folder tree to Intro_ProE_WF4 folder which opens up to the modules. I succeded before but my mind has blanked on the procedure. Losing previous information I had with this forum which helped in the past. I think I downloaded accept(Download training edition files) but stopped at that point decided to ask for your advice and help.
Dear PTC users,Want to know about customization in Pro E using Excel file.so, if any body have an idea of linking the excel file to Pro e means, Please let me Know. Thanks & Regards.

Hello,I have the educational version of Creo, which I downloaded for free from this website. While attempting to install the Parametric part of Creo, this window comes up before I can continue installing it. Question is, what do I put under "Hostname"?(Assumed that I could put any word under "Hostname")I entered my name, Kevin for example, and it allowed me to continue installing it. However, after I finished installing it, and when I try to open Parametric 1.0, I get this error. Can anyone help me, please?!Thanks,Kevin.
I'm new to Creo Parametric and CAD in general, and am currently experimenting through modelling simple parts.I'm unable to get the profile rib to extend to the desired width of 8mm (see attatched.) When I attempt to go beyond about 4.5mm, I get the error 'feature failed to regenerate'.Why is this? Any help would be awesome; thanks!
Hi All anyone know where i can download the lastest Creo Standards settings as the link i have http://apps.ptc.com/schools/creo_standards_20111007.zip is not working correctly cheers
A .pdf of the ramp calculations done on February 16th's webinar. Sorry for the .pdf version, but you should be able to read the slope from the equation and use it easily. I was using Mathcad Prime 2.0 (to be released March 1st) so I need to recreate the file in Prime 1.0 and post that as well. Unfortunately, I don't have Prime 1.0 running at the moment on my laptop. Any questions? Please email -Good luck to all the teams!Chris
Hey everyone,I've been having some trouble intalling Creo Elements/Pro Schools Edition 5.0, whenever I launch the setup.exe file the installer will load up prompting me to click continue, though I don't see a "continue" anywhere. All I see is a bar on the bottom center thats almost full that stays in the same position without progress (I don't know what this bar is for). Anyways, is there something I'm doing wrong? I downloaded the 3.6gig file, unzipped it, opened it, and double clicked the setup.exe but as I've said, I can't click "continue" on the setup as it doesn't even show up. I have included an attachment showing what I'm talking about. I followed all the steps mentioned in the account registration, got an email to download the program shortly after, and now I'm stuck here. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

I recently downloaded Creo Parametric on my Windows 64bit laptop. It ran slowly but today when I tried to open the program, a warning showed up stating "license request failed." When I clicked "OK", the program shuts down automatically. I have already tried restarting the computer and have also emailed - but have not received any answers. Any suggestions to fix this ASAP please?
Here's a quick assembly visualization tip you can use to impress your friends and neighbors:Using this STARBASE Scalextric slot car assembly, imagine that you want to quickly make it easier to see through the car body. I could Hide the car body, Suppress the car body or change the appearance (color) applied to the car body to be transparent. A better method might be to change the Component Display.Select the component of the assembly that you wish to change the display of, you can use CTRL to select multiple components. Then with the component(s) selected:In Creo 1.0: In the Model tab, click Model Display> Component Display Style and then select a display type you want from the drop-down menu. In this example, I have selected No Hidden. In Creo Elements/Pro: From the main menu, click View> Display Style and then select a display type you want from the drop-down menu. In this example, I have selected No Hidden.Doing this will modify the Master Style of the assembly. From the Style
