I'm a rookie MathCAD 15 user and I can't figure out how to display a calculation that results in a number of the order 10^-18 with less than 17 decimal places. Whenever I format the result to scientific format (or engineering) with <17 places the result rreturned is displayed as a zero. As soon as I up the decimal places back to 17, it shows the correct number. What's up with that?Thanks,Jay

When this forum first opened there was a lot of discussion about the difficulty navigating through the pages and finding the new posts. Several promises were made to improve the system and we were counseled to "be patient."I have seen (after I log in) the bold type indicating a new post has been added. The "all content" tab, however does not display all content; if I select a sub forum a whole new list with new bold entries appears. If I select a topic to read, I need two clicks on IE's "back" button to get back to the top forum. Then I can select a different sub forum to view. In order to sift for the new posts on the entire forum requires a lot of time and more patience than I usually have; I used to scan the entire collaboratory about twice a day for new posts, now I scan a few of the subforums and quit to do something productive.Are things still being changed? How long should we be patient? If we stop complaining will the changes stop too?Is there a way to set up the web pages so

Hello,I have created an Excel component (Insert -> Component -> Microsoft Excel -> Create from file) and it's working perfectly. However I have to use this component many times in my MathCAD sheet, so I'm trying to copy it. When I right click the component and choose copy, I get the following error message, in a window titled "Microsoft Excel":" cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding.Does anyone know how to avoid this ? I could create the component again ofcourse, but I need it so many times that this would be too much work.Best regardsEdd.

hi guys,new to mathcad (trial license ver15.0)Is there a way to convert a complex function to its polar form easily?Say, a+bi >> sqrt(a^2+b^2) angle: atan(b/a)Also, is there an easy way to find and assign a variable the conjugate of the complex function (without having to retype all the way)attached is a simple problem (err solution) which i made.notice that i have to rewrite just to get the conjugate..and i can't outrightly transform it to phasor..thanks..

Background:Drawing DTLtol_display yesconfig.protol_display notol_mode nominalI am using the the option in the bottom right of the drawing to set tolerances within a title block(.X ± &linear_tol_0_0 .XX ± &linear_tol_0_00 a ± &angular_tol_0_0) By default the tolerances are as shown, but I would like the default to be .X +/- 0.4 and .XX +/- 0.20.I found that if I create a new part and drawing and set the tolerances to what I want they save. If I then save a copy of the part and make a new drawing, the tolerances are as I set them in the original part.I believe I can cheat by doing this method with the startparts, but I would prefer to know where the values are stored and what the best method would be to accomplish this.This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. I am working with some students to try and solve a system of three equations using a Give/Solve block. Mathcad 14 is solving, but we are getting an error that says, "The symbolic result returned is too large to display, but it can be used in subsequent calculations if assigned to a function or variable."Can someone help us out?Thanks,Alan

WOW. I can not find this answer anywhere!!! The what's new docs, update training pdf, or the knowledge base!!! I hope you didnt miss this one. I have a round that lost its references. IN WF4 and earlier i was able to (in failure mode) QUICKLY pull up an earlier saved version and roll the model to the point i failed to see what was used on the that earlier version. anyhelp here??? Has anyone got a simple example of plotting tri-angles?When using trigonometry I find it a little pedantic drawings the shape in Excel and either manually updating the drawing or passing numbers through Mathcad to Excel.Cheers in advance.Mike

Could someone help me to with drafting a simple short function that would be able to transform a large matrix into a vector - say M2V function.I need one M2V function for transforming matrix rows (row by row) into a vector and other M2V for transforming matrix columns (column by column) into a vector.I am new to Mathcad programming. At the moment my function gives me only the last row (or column). I belive that this is not a difficult task for a seasoned Mathcad user, Many thanks for your support mates.Cheers

Hi!I'm running Mathcad v13.1 and recently I've changed my OS to Windows 7 and from MS Office 2003 to 2007. Now Mathcad sometimes closes without any warning or error message, and my work since last saving is lost!So far, I've only experienced this behaviour in Mathcad worksheets containing Excel sheets. But as no error message appears, I do not have any idea of where the problem is.It seems like some type of conflict appears between Mathcad and either Windows 7 or the Office 2007 package.Does anyone know if there are compatilbility problems with Windows 7 or Office 2007?I've searched for updates, but only found the "Mathcad Service Release 1" which I have already installed (v.13.1).Regards,PH. I have a 4th degree equation which I have solved for and obtained x.Using the solve function along with "assume", I filtered out only the positive answer to the equation.Mathcad displays my answer, but how do I get it to allow me to actually assign that answer to my variable "x" for use in further calculations?Thanks for your help!
