Windchill

Hi, I am new to Navigate and I need information on the same. We are moving the Windchill PDMLink to a new server with new host name. In that case, we will be Rehosting Windchill, but, what about Navigate ? Is it possible to rehost Navigate ? If not, then how to move all the created data (users list, custom attributes etc.) from Navigate, to newly installed Navigate on the new server ? Please help me out here.   Regards, Akshay

Hello, If you have run into this, go ahead and nod in agreement (and sympathy). If you have not, and are looking to install or update Workgroup Manager software on Windows 10, be aware.  In my case, seen with SolidWorks 2016/2017, Windows 10 and Windchill 10.2 M30 CPS-24: Windchill Workgroup Manager and WFS Driver Installation fails on Windows 10 when Secure Boot function is enabledThe PTC WFS Controller service does not work properly in Windchill Workgroup Manager integration with CAD Applications supporting Windchill File System (WFS)   PTC WFS Controller Service does not start and gives following error in event viewer "The PTC WFS Controller service terminated unexpectedly" in Windchill Workgroup Manager 11.0 on Windows 10   SPR 6593724 (disabling Secure Boot is not possible as a workaround in many organizations) Probably other docs in the DB, but these were the ones PTC passed along. Hola, can anyone explain to me why after alias attribute mapping (Baseline) two servers showing two different results? Production server diplays "Unassignable" values when no baseline involved but test server shows clean column. I would prefer to have "clean" column on production server like on test server. In CREO, the family table columns are automatically populated to the Family Tree Tab in Windchill. But for SolidWorks, Design table columns are not populated to Windchill Family tree tab. Is this intended functionality? Is there any workaround to populate them for SolidWorks?

Just had a situation occur in our installation that others my suffer from.  This solution worked like a charm. Might be a good idea to inform your users who use OneDrive.  One of our users kept getting an error saying their PTC places was unavailable.  Turns out in Article CS297063, it tells you that if OneDrive is active (which it was) you have to : Turn off the "Files on Demand" feature in OneDrive settings Reboot the clientJamesWindows 10, OneDrive activated, WGM for Inventor 11.0 M030, Windchill 11.0 M030

When objects are deleted in Windchill, through the UI, any related vault files that exist aren't also automatically deleted at that time. Revaulting, which can run automatically or on a schedule, copies files from one vault to another but doesn't delete files. These functions leave files in the vault that are no longer referenced in the database. PTC tech support article CS24438 gives some background info. The Windchill Help Center has more info.These unreferenced files should be cleaned up occasionally by an administrator. PTC provides lots of documentation on it. Greetings,My users have a legitimate complaint in this one.  They are wanting to know, at a glance, from their Tasks list which Change Notice the Change Activity task generated from the Implementation plan was created in.By default there is a Name (task name for the workflow node) and Subject (a concatenation of Type-Number and task name as defined in the implementation plan), however, there is no reference to which CN the Task was created from.I am looking for any creative way to help the users determine from which CN there CA tasks are coming from across their assigned list.Thanks in advance.Cam

Hi all,   We installaled CPS26 on our Dev VM's which also have the customization we use deployed in order to test our customization against the CPS26. At the moment we are faced to an error that says: The code of method _jspService(HttpServletRequest, HttpServletResponse) is exceeding the 65535 bytes limit. This happens while trying to create a document and seems to be caused by the createDocumentSetTypeAndAttributesWizStep.jsp in which we modified the value of a variable from true to false.    Have you seen this type of error before? We already contacted PTC and they offered the solution from the following case: https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS174031 but without any success.    Thanks.     

Since upgrading to WC11 we have noticed that performance is VERY slow and sluggish using IE11 however is very snappy using the latest Chrome.  We are primarily using Windows7.  The difference is very significant: IE often takes around 30-60 seconds to load some pages Chrome loads the same pages in just a few seconds  Has anyone else noticed this?  Do you know of a IE or WC setting that could improve the performance of WC in IE?    I know that I/we could switch to Chrome however would rather not because Chrome is missing a very useful field selection feature that IE has.    

Hi, Has anyone updated Windchill PDMLink 11.0 M030-CPS13 bundle on an existing Windchill 11.1 M010 installation? On running PSI, the update existing (Install CPS) options are greyed out. Have checked the articles that says about the PSI installer bundled with different versions might cause it, which is true in my case.  So I want to know what is the way to get this bundle installed on 11.1(M010) version, I need it since it has has the latest RestService 1.3 module. Any suggestions/clue will be appreciated. Thanks!

I have inherited a project from a Windchill Quality Solutions Enterprise Edition user. I am a Windchill Quality Solutions Team Edition user Version 11.0.  I get a message that unable to open the project because it was copied from PTC Windchill Quality Solutions Enterprise.  This file is from an entirely different division so we don't have the same licenses.  Is there a way to use the Enterprise files with the Team edition?

Hi   I'm trying to create a multiple workflow for a team, where one user will select which teams are going to participate in it. (Blocks) Based on selection each workflow tasks in the block will start to execute. Once all the activities of the selected blocks is completed the next activity should execute. Is there any method of achieving this? I've also explained with the help of an image.

Hello PTC,   What derating parameters will be applied on components with no electrical stress specified. I am working on MIL-HDBK-217 (N2) reliability predictions. Is NAVSEA SD-18 used?   I have done some spot checking (against RIAC System Reliability Toolkit, Table 5.1.2-1)  but am unable to determine what will be used across all different kinds of parts and temperatures. I have compared different levels of electrical stresses to see what failure rate is calculated for a thick film resistor, ceramic capacitor, and a Schottky diode. May see attached. I am currently on Windchill 10.1.   Thank you!

Dear All,   we have tried several times to import our product database into FRACAS via the EXCEL import tool. It is a quite complex data structure (several subparts belong to several parts, several of those parts belong to different assemblies, several assembiles belong to next higher assemblies....) and is relativly big (270000 items).   Importing with the EXCEL import wizards fails most of the time towards the end....which is quite frustrating because to import all data takes almost a week.... 😞 Hence my question: is it possible to go back to the root and import the data directly into the SQL Windchill DB? I've tried to add a single part via insert into the admin.system database (which is itself already difficult to figure out the correct project, because I haven't found a relationship between SETID (which represents the Project and the actual Project Name), and I am not sure how the RECORD Number is actually createdd (the number seems not to be sequenced and has simularit

I'm sure this is not the first time this is asked, but last time I searched I couldn't find relevant topics... maybe it's too obvious  So, it would be nice to edit the top banner text "PTC Windchill" to include, for example, info that you're in production environment and also change the colour to something else than dark blue again to differentiate the environments. Having no skills when it comes to web pages I'd need a starting point, though I was able to find the file containing the text "PTC Windchill". How do you edit the colour?

I've been trying to incorporate attributes that exist in Windchill into Excel with limited success. One such attribute is 'modified by' I can see this in Windchill but cannot see it when I attempt to use the field in Excel. I have been informed by the support team that this should be mapped in the msoimap.xml file. Again I have attempted to do this but the updated section in the msoimap fails to drive anything new into excel. I have even attempted to drive in a second attribute which I can already see under a different msname in the map file. The other issue I have is that although 'Modified By' is the display name it cant be the attribute as it has a space in it.   Any help on this would be great.
