Where does one set the config spec. used by WVS when publishing on check in? I am attempting to configure Creo drawings to publish "as stored" and all other Creo objects to publish "latest".The documentation states the following:The config spec that is used for the publishing process, is provided by the application that emits the event, for example, a WGM. If that config spec is "null," WVS uses either the latest config spec or an as-stored config spec depending on the value of the property "publish.configspec.default.useasstoredifavailable."Where is the config spec set for the Creo workgroup manager?Thanks!

Just started working here after many years in Solidworks. Picking up Creo pretty good and like it. Now...we have Windchill and everyone is struggling. Legacy data stored on network drive in zip files. Also all current development still going on local drives. How do we get any of this into Windchill? It seems like a never ending fight with bad or no results so far. Coming from Solidworks, I was real excited to find and install Desktop Integration but it seems that is only for MS Office products and not CAD. This whole thing is reminding me of the DOS days....PTC products do a good job, but really aren't working well in modern Windows environment.   Any assistance would be appreciated on best, easiest and most straight forward method to loading all this stuff into Windchill.

WPA is not meeting enterprise application supportability requirements. Product can not be installed as service, which is the basic feature in any enterpsie application. Support team has to manually start the product after every planned and unplanned system downtime. MS support team is puching back on the installation of porduct until this issue is resolved.

Hido we need license to connect Windchill with other system?Case 1 : Connecting Windchill with SAP PI web services.Case 2 : Update some database with windchill. My actual requirement is to find a Windchill Java API which tells if a windchill object type like 'WTPart' needs to be checked out before update operation for a particular attribute or not by using the type of the object only.    I have searched the Windchill API JavaDoc for such API and found one which required an object as input. I need to determine whether the object needs to be checked out from the object type name only. Does anyone know about such API?   On the Windchill UI, I have seen that the Actions menu is being populated based on the object type. For example, For 'WTPart', Check out action is added to the actions menu, while for 'WTChangeRequest2' it is not.  On what basis does the Windchill application do this?

To start with I am not asking a question about buying additional modules of software. We own Windchill and I believe I can get what I need out of the software we already own.Using Views, e.g. Design, Manufacturing, etc... is there a way to create a new view, Service, and display the full end item product but structure the BOM so only the replacement or service able components are displayed. Example: I have an motor assembly you can either replace the whole motor or the brushed and two bushings on the shaft. Nothing else can be replaced if it fails. In the end I would have a full top level assembly visualization but the BOM would be minimized to show only replaceable parts.

How to configure the Additional MS in WC11 F00 in Non UI mode, Currently i am facing issues with the NON UI mode and even in UI mode only one MS is serving the requests. Could you please suggest what property changes needed for this ?

I am trying to get a fresh installation of Windchill on my local machine. But i faced the below error on fresh installation    I looked it up in PTC Support and it says this is because of “Windows Servers Auto Admin Approval mode” I changed this setting in User Account Control setting and ran recovery for installation. Then there was an another error    I am attaching all the installation logs. Please let me know if anything else is required  

Hello,   I am looking for a way to create a WTPart attribute, that allows users to put a link to another part. Such an attribute would allow us to put information about "alternative parts", "successors" or similar into our PDM.   In the type and attribute manager I created a global attribute type "reference" and linked it to the WTPart. The attribute appears but I couldn't find a way to fill it. When I "check out and edti" the WTPart, the attribute is marked as unassignable.   Any hints on how to solve this are appreciated.   Best Chris    

Hello all,First post on here... I am looking for guidance on how to gather attributes from a workflow task (such as task completer, when they completed it, and comments) and drive those comments to an attribute on the affected objects. Example... Promotion request for a document. Document is promoted, approvers complete their approval task. I want to be able to put those attributes back into the document before the set state robot runs on the promotion request.I figure I will have to have some sort of expression robot, but what else? I'm trying to discover if there have been any successful integrations using ArtiosCAD and Windchill, either by transferring metadata attribute information or the actual CAD files.  If anyone has any experience with using ArtiosCAD and Windchill, please feel free to respond.  Thanks.-Alex

We are setting up publisher rules to publish stp files. Creo 4 supports AP 242. Does anyone know if it is possible to configure the publisher to publish 242?

Hi All,   I am trying to configure Navigate with Windchill but it is failing with the error in the screeshot attached. Windchill is configured with SSL (tried with both trusted certiicates and self signed certificates) and Navigate is not SSL enabled (http). When validating the connection from Thingworx (ptc-windchill-integration-connector--> services--> ValidateConnection) it is failing. Thanks, Irfan

In the future we plan to use the gatekeeper functionality in Windchill due to prevent the check-in of models with ModelCHECK errors.In order to familiarize ourselves with it, we tried out some things in our test environment:In Creo, the ModelCHECK has been configured so that the ModelCHECK is executed when saving models and the two parameters MC_ERRORS and MODEL_CHECK are created or updated accordingly.In Windchill, the object type CAD document has also been extended by the two attributes.Finally, the check-in options in Windchill have been set to check the attributes on check-in.Now it works wonderfully that check-in is blocked if there are ModelCHECK errors.However, we have an additional requirement which we have not yet managed to meet:Under certain circumstances, new models are created in which the ModelCHECK is not executed and therefore the two parameters MC_ERRORS and MODEL_CHECK are not created (this is intentional).These models should not be considered by the gatekeeper at che

Hi All, if anyone could help me out with this scenario it would be of great help. Currently I am working in a clustered environment with apache load balancer. I have customized windchill logout functionality and I am getting logoff option and session is getting ended when I perform logoff action. I have two slaves and a master where when load balancer switches from slave 1 to slave 2 windchill throws error 'you are not authorized to view this file'. I then shut down slave 2 and worked only with slave 1 everything was working fine.    I have configured on monolithic servers on both Windows as well as RHEL servers but first time I tried with cluster environment.    Can anyone let me know what might be the possible error because of which I am getting this abnormal behaviour of Windchill? And also how should I proceed with the form based authentication on Windchill and is it good to configure form based authentication on a clustered environment? 

On Windchill 11 M030. Sometimes, when WGM client starts up, it will lock up and be in "not responding" mode. Usually this happens when we exit WGM and come back in the morning. We can recover by deleting the wfs cache as defined in the locaiton PTC_WFS_CACHE. Even though we remove WFS cache, the WGM client seems to be able to recreate it with the unchekced in models. I am curious to see if others see this issue.of WGM client locking up or not responding on V11 M030. Thanks for sharing.  

I have have navigated to the information page of a part and selected  the 'Structure' tab ->  and opened any part then it opens in a window with 'Structure' tab selection by default . Now I need to open the window with 'Details' tab selection. 

After Problem Report creation , Promotion Request creation, a notification is displayed through a transparency banner. To close this banner, you have to click on the opposite side. Esc  button is not available to go faster.... Is it possible to deactivate this popup notification? BR

We are looking to change our process so that when you set a WTPart as an End Item it takes on a different lifecycle.  At the moment all of our parts and cad data use a simple lifecycle of InWork, Released, Obsolete. However we use End Items for our Catalogue/top level parts which can be in other states such as Legacy parts or marked for Future Release. OOTB when creating a WTPart there appears to be no option to set a different workflow when the part is marked as an End Item, is it possible, presumably it will be something set in the OIR?.  We could of course change the Lifecycle once created but that's an extra step that most users shouldn't be required to know about or do.  Thanks in advance for any help.  Paul

I've created a number of parts, and realized I don't include a version number (so it entered the default ###.1). Is it possible to change this property, or will I need to delete then remake the parts?   Thanks for the help
