Windchill

Hi all,   While starting Windchill we receive the following error in the MS log:   FATAL [main] wt.dataops.purge.StandardPurgeService  - wt.util.WTException: wt.pom.DeadlockDetectedException: Deadlock is detected on the wt.queue.ScheduleQueueEntry object in the database.   We have a configuration with 2 MS and 3BGMS, Windchill 10.3 M030.  Do you have an idea what can cause this? The system is stopped automatically during the night for DD and Vaults backup and restarted in the morning using 2 Tasks in the Windows Task Scheduler. If I stop the system and start it again there will be no deadlock message.   Thanks in advance.

Error: "number) may not have its identity changed.  The identity of this item may only be changed if it is not checked out and you have Modify permission for all versions.   This started after installing service pacl CPS11.    The serice pack now requires "modify" at all states for Documents and EPMdocument types (CAD and Arbortext) that are moved. It seems that Parts are not affected.

Hi folks,   Does anyone have a working QML report for Windchill 10.x that reports users who have not logged in within 90 days? I have a QML (found on this site) but it's returning false positive users.  

Is there any way to export all PDF Representations (created by a CAD Worker) for an entire WTPart assembly? We build our BOMs in Windchill, and then need an easy way of compiling all of the related PDFs for that BOM.   Is this an option in Windchill? Is there an add-on/utility that can do it?   Thank you!

Hi i'm searching PDM essnetials package file i go download software page there are windchill product WINDCHILL INFO*ENGINE WINDCHILL PDMLINK WINDCHILL PARTSLINK WINDCHILL PROJECTLINK WINDCHILL WORKGROUP MANAGERS AND GATEWAYS but PDM Essentials doesn't exist where is it?  

When switching workspaces and I have AutoCAD open in the background, it will close automatically without warning. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this? 

We just upgraded to Windchill 11 M030 and discovered that DTI is now creating a local context folder structure. Is it possible to disable this? We also experience problems with folders paths having to many characters.

Hi All,   I have written a windchill listener that waits for EPMWorkspaceManagerEvent.PRE_WORKSPACE_CHECKIN events, and then changes the names of epm documents, and parts in certain ways depending on some IBA.   It works fine, a part from the fact that I am unable to distinguish between the first checkin, when the autonumber is substituted with the proper computed-by-the-listener name, and all the following checkins.   For example, I checkin the part 295.prt, and it gets renamed to NEWNAME-142-DONE.prt; then, I modify it, and check it in again, but instead of becoming A.2, it becomes NEWNAME-143-DONE.prt, version A.1. This does not happen to the WTPart, which is renamed as well initially, but then keeps the same name and only increases the iteration.   Is there any attribute of the EPMDocument that I can check? Any API that could help me?   (I may check the format of the name to verify if it has been already renamed, but I would prefer to use somethin

background - its been years since I've done any serious modeling, but I think this should be possible.   When I check in a creo assembly, i want to push the X,Y,Z locations of the origin of each of the children components. In my mind, this is similar to pushing the find number, line number, or reference designator from an assembly to Windchill. Ideally, these would be occurence attributes in the part structure.   I'm just not sure how to set these parameters/attributes in Creo and how to configure Windchill to recieve them.   Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks, Kar

Hello, I have a own Database system which I want to integrate into Windchill (11.0 F000) Search. Can somebody point me to a HowTo or give me an example how to add a custom datastore to the searchable objects in Windchill search?   In the Advanced Search I want to add a own Datatype (lets Say XYZItem) If that Item is selected an additional search call to my database System should be fired and I want to add the result that I get from my system to the Windchill search result.   If it's not possible to do it like that, it would also be nice to know how to create a custom search tab to integrate a search in only my system into Windchill.   Thank you, Martin

Ran Upgrade Manager to go from 10.0m040 to 11.0m030 and finally made it all the way hrough. However I have 2 issues:   1)When I start up Windchill 11, my Method Server log quickly fills with errors all seem to be repeats of this: ERROR [WVSScheduleQueue.SchedulingThread] wt.wvs.schedule.ScheduledThumbnailProcessor Administrator - Skipping DerivedImage   2) The state and version information on a detial info page show ???version??? and ???state??? instead of the information that should be there.    

Someone uploaded a file and the filename contains a percent sign so Windchill won't allow anyone to download it.  The person that uploaded it is no longer here.  How do I access this file?  Can I rename it to remove the percent signs from the filename so it can be downloaded?  We have Windchill 11.   I've seen this problem before and I think we had to change the file name some how but I'm not sure what to do.  Thanks.

Good morning all,   I am new to Windchill so please have patience with me.  We're on v10.1, and I have been asked to look into whether or not we can use it as a document management system for our IT, Systems, Vendor and Maintenance documentation.  I've used enterprise level EDM systems before and from what I've seen Windchill does not have many of the features I would expect, but it does have document version control which we want.   I understand it's more for projects and manufacturing and we use it for that at the moment.  I would like to be able to store documents in a basic simple folder structure and then use a metadata search to pull them together by topic or by area or by system or by whatever I want, which really needs something like a keyworking facility.  Can Windchill do that?  We have a huge amount of documentation that whist not related to a single project, relates to the hardware and systems that the projects run on and  we wan

We recently upgraded to Windchill 11.0. Since doing so we are unable to create pdf representations. Has anyone else seen this error? How can I fix this error? I am attaching the complete error log. Note: trying to create a pdf on a regular DITA xml file, not a DITA map file.

Hello, Is there standard procedure or tool to split single instance of Windchill to 2 instance of Windchill?   One firm going to split 2 firms. They want to split their data. There were multiple ways I think we can split data into 2 Windchill instance. I am curious to know if there are any procedure/tool already available to do that from PTC.   Thanks in advance.

We are currently migrating to Windchill now and we need to put our own part numbers on files before checking into Windchill. My problem lies in my current mapkey (pre-Windchill) where I open a start part, skip the name pop up which assigns a PRT0001 name and then the mapkey continues to run through modifying all the parameters in the start part and then when all that is complete it will do a "rename" function to change the name from PRT0001 to our own numbering. And now while playing in the initial stages of Windchill, it seems we must put our new name in the initial pop up screen that my mapkey skips or Windchill gives the name 0000000001 and then the rename function is no longer available in the Creo session and the part must be checked in to Windchill and then go through a ridiculous amount of steps to rename the part in the workspace. So I don't mind putting the name in on the initial pop up but the problem in the mapkey is now that any way I have tried to create the mapkey to

I am using PTC Windchill Quality Soutions 10.2. On the FMEA Worksheet tab, I have inserted a number of functions, functional failures, etc. When I right click on one of these items, the Delete Record arrow is there, but all of the options (Function, Functional Failure, etc) are all greyed out. It will let me delete all functions, but obviously I don't want to do that. How do I delete a function on the FMEA Worksheet?

Hi all, I have installed windchill muktiple number of times but this time I got stuck at a place and I didnot understand what actually was happening.  Situation: While installing PDMLink on windows server 2012, LAN was connected. Internet was working fine. Static IP address was also provided. But when ldap server and windchill dns server registered name entry came it automatically took ip address starting with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx instead of 'hostname.domainname'. As per my understanding usually when the internet link is broken ip address automatically changes to 169.xxx.xxx.xxx. But when all those were working fine why did it take that ip address? I completed the installation, windchill was accessible on server but when I tried to connect to client machine it gave me error and connection was failed (connection was broken/unable to establish). In host file I had configured standard "static ip and hostname.domainname" format asusaul.   Why did this happen? What is the problem? Can

Hey gang!WC10.0 M040, Creo 2.0 M050SO, these calculated links to drawings are cause us trouble.Have any of you found a way around these issues?It appears that any drawing the Owner EPM doc is related by 'Drawings Reference' to gets added as a calculated link to its WTPart, and you cannot remove this link.I set the preference Operations-AutoAssociate- Create Content Links for Drawings to Yes, this had no effect.This causes us these problems.1. 'temporary what-if' drawings are added2. Collectors in Revise, Move, Promote, Affected objects, etc. collect these Undesired calculated linked objectsa. Users then must be very diligent3.
