3D Part & Assembly Design

Hello, I'm working in Creo 10 and making an assembly with alot of parts. I have made a Family Table where I hide some parts in a few instances to highlight parts in each instance. Now I have a drawing with The generic model containing the whole BOM list. I also have the instance models in the same drawing that I want to attach BOM Balloons to. However when I try that It doesn't work, That is because when i add the generic it generates a separate BOM with different numbers and it is tied to a separate BOMIs there some way to have the instance keep the generic BOM so I can add balloons? The same problem occurs when I use simp. rep. I also can't use Layers because I have used the pipe tool it doesn't seem to hide the pipes when I added them to a layer and hide it. Instead it just hides connected parts that I have.

I have a line style question when I print out to PDF.On the B size format the part prints out with more dashes and dots. (see image)On the G size format the part prints out with less dashes and dots. (see image)Does anyone know how I can get the part on a G size sheet to look more like the part on the B size?The pen tables are the same, and the way I exported the drawing to PDFs are the exact same.This leads me to believe that the format is driving the way the part looks, sound right?Thanks in advance for your help.

Using Creo Parametric 10.0.2.0 Commercial. I have created one quarter of a sketch that I want perfectly to my specifications. The other three quarters should simply be a copy and rotate of 90, 180, and 270 degrees of the first quarter. The final sketch should then just be joining them together in a circle to close the sketch. Then, I want to create the part by extruding this sketch. I successfully copy and paste my construction lines, my center point reference, and my actual lines.I successfully rotate it 90 degrees. The issue is, I can't get the end points to snap to each other to create a closed sketch! My sketch is essentially a 90 degree arc with radius of 62.5 mm, but the first part of the arc is removed for a slot that goes into the circle. I have tried clicking and dragging, but the point is the center point of the sketch which won't snap to where I need that center point to be. I tried setting the vertical and horizontal dimensions going from

Hi all,I'm struggling to find a solution to an apparently simple problem. I have a repeat region listing parts, whose indexes have been "fixed" to remain always #1 , #2 and #3 (in the desired order).Now, component #2 has been replaced with another part (different part number) and so the BoM table is now listing items #1 and #3 (associated to the same p/n as before), leaving a gap inbetween; the new item, which replaces #2 is now listed as #4 because it's the first available index. I thought I could simply fix index for the item which is now #4 and assign #2, but I get an error because index #2 is already assigned! But I can't unfix it, because it's not possible to select it (its row in the table does not exist anymore). Does anybody know how to work this around, without deleting and recreating the table? Thanks. (I simplified the example on purpose, but this scenario might apply also to assemblies with 100+ parts, where recreating the table from scratch is not an option)

Dear PTC-Community, I have been stuck with a design challenge and come to you as my last resort of maybe finding a smarter solution to my problem. I'm using creo 9.0.3.0. I'm trying to put 0.6mm holes which are 1.2mm apart from each other trough a body that is "twisted" in space. (It is part of a fan blade)(view in My Videos) I want the holes to enter the part on one surface and exit on the opposing one. They need to follow the geometry, but the entry and exit surfaces are not parallel to one another. My best approach so far was to make a row of profiles on a plane perpendicular to the direction in one corner of the part and use the "Pattern" - "Curve" function, selecting one of the edges as the reference curve. I also choose the option "follow the surfaces", and select the entry and exit surface. I hope the following screenshots make my process more easy to follow. Hi, I've done a direction pattern with respect to the blue directions (of another object of the assembly) in the picture.  With relations, I want to invert the direction of the pattern in relation to the constraint of the first object of the pattern.  Wich is the command that I have to insert afther the if conditions in the following relations?  Thanks a lot. Michele Barile 

I am looking to be able to trim or cut a section of an imported facet feature in creo 10 and need help. I am looking to cut the surface section in purple from the blue faceted feature. Thank you.   

I've been tasked to determine if it is possible to annotate (modify) our present UDFs to include annotations that will show up in an MBD model. Currently we can place the UDF, a counterbore hole, for example, on the model . However, then we must dimension the UDF manually in the combination state. Is there a way to attach the callout to a UDF so it becomes integral with the combination state?I suppose this would be applicable to a non-MBD part also. Can the callout be attached to the UDF when the UDF is placed on a part?Our UDFs are all Stand Alone also and we use Creo 9.3.  Thanks for any guidance!

Hello  am using Creo Parametric Release 8.0I saw this video, i tried the same method as you explained in my system with example i could not get the different color in drawing I have tried using different appearanceCould you please help me on this.  For example, I have created new rep, new appreance and I have even created new combined state in view manager as shown in video but which ever combined state is active only that that colors are visible mode. 

I'm working with ME'scope and Creo Parametric 11.  ME'scope can export structure files in either .UFF (Universal File Format) or ASCII Text (.txt) files.  I don't see a way to import either of these into Creo.  I want to be able to modify the parts from ME'scope so that I don't have to re-design them in Creo from scratch.  I know I can import a Parasolid to Creo, but I don't know if selecting that option with the ASCII spreadsheet (.txt) file will work.  I thought I would ask the question before wasting time on experiments that may not work.  

I have encountered an issue that I cannot seem to solve, when working with sheetmetal parts. The sheetmetal part has different features to be placed 360 degrees around a cylindrical object, for laser engraving purposes. So the thickness of the sheetetal is on paper irrelevant - so ideally so thin it is just visible on the assembly.The dimensions of the sheetmetal part matches the diameter of the object and so does the features on it - atleast theoretically. The sheetmetal bend is set to 360 degrees and to keep the dimensions on the inside of the bend.But, when assembling the sheetmetal with the cylindrical object, I get small inaccuracies on the technical drawing of the assembly - the angles between the features do no longer match, which is an issue on the given task.I have found out that changing the thickness of the sheetmetal impacts the position of the features, even though the part is set to keep the dimensions on the inside of the bend, and I do not know why. I am worki

Hello,I recently began to see the circles in my drafts as polygons (see image attached). It began since:1. I have a new ultra wide monitor2. run some updates on my computer.It's only an issue when in draft or sketch mode, other programs are not affected (like when exporting a draft to PDF). I'm using Creo version 8.0.3.0 Thank you in advance for any help.

We had set the default bend radius for everyone by adding smt_dflt_bend_radius smt_thickness*0.5 to our config.pro so everyone had the same bend radius's and was more accurate on how it was built. I was designing a bunch new Sheetmetal parts only to realize the default is now .03 which cant actually be made when your are bending .25" thick Sheetmetal. So i went to check the configuration editor and smt_dflt_bend_radius now has a cross out symbol. Is there a new way to set this so everyone has the same default bend radius so no one forgets and sends out a part that cant be made?

CREO 9I'm trying to create wire spools using an .nwf style format created in excel, based on:An exported file based on a set of manually created wire spoolsTemplates from @BrianMartin The syntax examples found here: About Neutral Format Wire List (ptc.com)A .spl file written from a manually created wire spoolI've tried the following format:"NEW WIRE_SPOOL DATAPARAMETER MIN_BEND_RADIUS 9PARAMETER THICKNESS 3PARAMETER UNITS MM"... as well as variations of it to include "PARAMETER NAME_FORMAT W-###", "PARAMETER COLOUR [COLOUR]", "PARAMETER DENSITY [DENSITY]" & "PARAMETER MASS_UNITS KG" and exclude the "PARAMETER" from every line as per the .spl file. I've tried including the this text in the .nwf file for my part designation data, and copying the formatted text into Notepad and save it as a .spl file as I don't have access to Creo schematics. I am working in Creo 10 and having trouble editing line style widths on quilted components and imported features in assemblies. As it is, when I print my drawings, these features come out much too bold. I was hoping this could be corrected in my drawing options, but I have not found anything that helped. Someone suggested I try to use the Data Doctor tool but the many unfamiliar options in it forced me to step back until I can better understand. I am open to any suggestions that might help.

Olympic Rings. Has anybody tried to model the olympic rings, i.e. 5 proper interlocking toroids as shown in the attached file, and not the faked versions you can see from the games in Paris. I find it quite a challenging item and wonder if it is solved already.  

Been a few release since I used Creo last.   I don't remember having to hold control when picking entities for dimensions. You could, but it wasn't mandatory.   Am I mistaken?

How to fix when surface despaired from 3D Creo 9.0 Model after performing Solidify Remove Material? The surface is not hidden in the layers. I clenched that. CAn somebody hgel with that issue?    

Hello everyone,  I am very new to this software and am going through as much online training as I can. I had a trail version a few weeks ago and I was able to add simple equations to the dimensions as I added them to the drawing for example: 3 1/2 * 2 which should set the part to 7”  Since I’ve installed the new software it says this. hope you can help I can’t find an answer anywhere,  I want the dimensions to show as 7” or 3 1/2 is this possible?  

Folks 1st question: Can i bend this seam into a flange using the spinal bend or similar feature? I tried using the sheetmetal flange, but it will only bend it by sections, maybe because is not a continuous feature but modeled in several flanges.  I want to bend the whole seam 1/2" long, this way:  2nd question: Can I bend a symmetrical flange created in sheetmetal into a non-symmetrical flange? Side view of the non-symmetrical flange (for illustration purposes)The front view looks like thisfront view  thanks

Hello all,  would love some help on this if possible. I am very new to Creo, done about 5/6 hours elearning but still stuck, i have been given a set of files which i want to dissect and get back to a possition where i can send parts off to be laser cut. as you can see from the attached file / photo the file is made up completely. I would like to get back to the sides, bottom etc. (if that makes sense). I have access to the .prt files and the .pkg files. from the owner who designed this in creo a number of years ago. Thank you in advance, i have tried a number of things but i am a bit out my depth here 🙂
