Analysis

Is there a way to export mold flow analysis results, like fiber orientation and residual stresses, for use in later structural analysis? If not, then what is the purpose of the Creo mold extension?Ideal output would be .nwd, .nod, or some kind of ASCII.   

Greetings (New Creo User Here),   I am creating a simple U-shaped structure (see pic below) pinned at the large holes you see on the vertical channels (blue, one not shown to the left is a mirror image), connected to a front/back mirrored pair of horizontal channels (yellow) by 4 bolts at each end of the yellow beam. A mass is applied to the plate (red) resting on top of the yellow beams. This gives a total of two vertical channels, two horizontal channels, the plate, and 16 bolts (all identical).Colorized Components (1/2 of Structure)   I am using very stiff bolts with a much softer structural material (e.g., steel bolts with sheet aluminum), and am not worried about the bolts failing in tension. They really operate more like pins in this scenario (light or no preload), rather than the idealized "fastener" found in Analysis-->Refine Model-->Connections.I've done what was suggested by other authors for older versions in creating idealized point-to-point b

I presume the thickness is measured as surface Normals as indicated by Blue Arrows. It however appears, the direction of the Resultant (orange arrow) at the Sharp Edge is not considered for measurement. This function works correctly, when there is a round, i.e. when the thickness is positive. I imported data from excel in to creo through excel analysis.But the name for each imported parameter is appearing as XL_4_2, XL_4_3 XL_5_2, XL_5_3, etc.(see attachment)How can I change the name of these parameters. I want each imported parameter to be identified as some user defined parameter name.

Greetings! I would like to know if the self-weight of the simulated component needs to be inserted as a load or does it insert it automatically. For example, to calculate the displacement in a beam, would i need to input the weight of the beam as a load? I'm trying to simulate a beam and compare with hand calculations (verification), but I can't get an agreement between the results.

Hello-  I'm looking for some guidance on an analysis that I setting up inside Creo Simulate.  I'm using some contact interfaces to allow rotation about a set of pins and it seems that Creo is ignoring these interfaces without warning, but it is evident in the results.  I've added a screen shot of the problem (see below). Rotation is permissible between the red pins and the light blue parts (hence the use of contact interfaces).  With a load applied in the vertical direction (down) on the brown component, the gray actuator reacts this load and keeps it in position. This has a similar setup using contact interfaces but Creo seems to calculate this properly in the results. Can anyone offer any insight on why Creo would be ignoring these interfaces?  Any solutions that would correct this? 

I'm using beam elements to simulate some components. When visualizing the results I can show only the beams and show labels at the minor nodes of the beam, as seen in the image. However, the label on the node seems to get hidden. Thus, is there an easy way of offsetting the labels a little or "bringing them to the front"  of the graphics?

Hi folks, Just a quick question from a relatively new user of Creo.With respect to the calculated mass properties, does anyone know which inertia tensor sign convention Creo uses? I've been told by some of my seniors that it's the negative inertia tensor, but does Creo specifically state that somewhere? Thanks!     

I'm working on building a table of mass-properties for components in an assembly. I am using assembly patterns for common hardware components, and I would like to obtain an aggregated mass properties for all the fasteners in a pattern (mass, CG, MOI etc) My team-member is moving patterns into separate sub-assemblies to accomplish this (you are able to "activate" and thus isolate the parts as an assembly,) but that feels like quite the convoluted work-around and breaks up the logical organization of my model-tree. Is there a direct way to pull the combined mass properties for a circular pattern of bolts? Note: Some of the patterns are not symmetrical, and I'd prefer to avoid aggregating numbers manually. Thanks in advance.D Hale  

Howdy PTC folks! Do y'all know how to run an analysis that can determine what the maximum force load (up to the yield point) can be for any particular low carbon steel part given a specific geometry, and force location/direction.  Surely there is a way to do this, right? I've seen tutorials on how to optimize certain features of the design like material thickness or other dimensions, but what if I just want to know how much of a load a particular part can handle? The only way I know how to do it is by running multiple simulations and increase the load incrementally each time until the von mises stress gets close to the yield strength. Which is very inefficient IMO.  Thanks for any help on this!Kevin      

I am designing a linkage system and want to investigate its force output while some of its parts geometry vary, e.g. lengths, angles etc.I seek to optimize the mechanism over its entire range of motion.After I run a Motion Analysis in the Analysis tab, based on an existing Mechanism Analysis performed in a step before, I choose to create, as output, new Series Parameters for some of the parameters I am investigating.But I cannot find a way where I can use these newly created Motion Analysis Series Parameters in the Sensitivity, Feasibility or Multi-Objective Optimization. Although I do see the series parameters in the stored Parameters within the resulting Analysis feature. Within these tools all parameters I see are from MDO and are discrete ones, like min_parameter or max_parameter, and this does not help in my case. Is it possible to optimize an entire series parameter within Creo Behavior (like an arbitrary polynomial curve function linear or quadratic whatever e.g. y(x)=

Hello,   is it possible to measure the lever force over time in Mechnism dynamics?I have a simple lever mounted in the middle. On one side it is moved with a hydraulic cylinder.I know the displacement and the force in the cylinder. I would like to define these parameters. The vertical force that acts on the other side of the lever, I would like to show over the cylinder length or the time. Is this possible? Hi All, We added some leader notes in a drawing that we were working on. When we open the drawing in the CREO Parametric instance we worked on, they are oriented to the right.If we open it on another users CREO Parametric instance, they are oriented to the left. If there a CREO Parametric Setting that affects this or can cause this behaviour?    

Our company is planning to upgrade out CAD software to CREO 9.0. However, the CAD support matrix for Ansys 2021 R2 does not go beyond CREO 7.0. Will these versions cooperate properly? (Upgrading Ansys is a long and difficult process because of internal requirements, avoiding at this time is beneficial if possible)  

I have an assembly that I've created a section view of, and I'd like to export a file (preferably something like a CSV) that contains a list of the XYZ coordinates of the section. Ideally, I'm trying to just get the coordinates of the section plane's intersection with the top surface of the model, as if I was tracing a laser measurement tool along a line over the top surface. How would I accomplish this? I'm using Creo 4.0.

Hello, i would like to know if there is any possibility to import stress map to Creo.We have sheetmetal parts that are made using press and we know what stresses are inside of it. But we need to simulate it and check if stresses are in allowed range. How can i import initial stredded data to creo simulate?

Using CREO Parametric 7.0 I am trying to create a forklift mechanism. In the picture, the bottom of the red screw will be attached to a motor that is mounted to the same plate that the bottoms of the tan channels are. As the motor screws upward, it will lift up the grey section. There will be two cables attached to the tan bar running between the two channels. Those cable will then run over the grey bar and back down to the tan hooks. This means that the brown frame will be lifted as the screw lifts the grey frame. My question is, how do I simulate this wire in a way that will allow me to do an Ansys simulation of the forces when the lift is fully extended? I can also use CREO simulate if necessary.    

Hello,I'm new to the integrated mold analysis in Creo.However, the tool with it's fiber orientation calculation possibilities appears to be promising for my topics. For the part design and the regarding analysis, I'd be very happy to use the calculated fiber orientation in Creo Simulate calculations. Is there a possibility to transfer the fiber orientation (and material properties) to Creo Simulate? Best regards, Daniel 

Could someone explain "scaling" in the display options when viewing simulate results? If it's kept at zero is what's displayed a realistic deformation?      

I'm making a drawing of a model that was created by someone else. When I show the dimensions on the drawing - all of the symbols show up as square blocks.  The numbers are fine, but the symbols for diameter, counterbore, depth etc. all show up looking like square blocks. Anybody know a reason why?

I use Creo Parametric 7.0.8.0.I have a problem with EZ Tolerance extension, my problem is described bellow.  I was using set of a shaft and a bearring with a hole, firstly I calculated it by hand ańd then with EZ Tol., but the results were not same.Here are my calculations:1. Nominal ClearenceHole-Shaft=(0.3760-0.3745)/2= 0.00075 mm2. Maximal clearence3. Minimal clearence EZ Tol did the Nominal clearence good, but not the min/max clearence. (I attached some pictures with the assembly). Thank you.  

Hello all, I am having some variability and issues with how Creo flow (7.0.8) behaves when trying to display outputs. This leads to three questions which would be great to understand. I guess the answers are in the config files, but can't seem to find the right parameters. 1. Transparency of a solid domain (showing temperature) used to also allow visibility to streamlines within the part. However, now for whatever reason it doesn't allow this. How can I get this ability back again? 2. Is there a way to change the outline colour from the very thick blue lines? They currently wipe out all detail with fine PCB components. Ideally 1 px and black. 3. At one point my model decided to show its own outlines, as 1px and grey. These weren't turned on as outlines, but were something to do with the 'flow analysis bodies' turned on. If I can get these to show then it will solve problem #2! Many thanks
