At first appearance, I was excited to find out that ModelCHECK (MC) could automatically update things using ModelUPDATE (MU).  After I turned it on and tested it, I am terrified of it.  From what I can tell, MU puts all applicable features through the same blender without giving any say on the admin or user side.    For example, if you check for the following it will automatically update the model, and neither the Admin nor the User has any say in which one it will automatically do (regardless if set to Error or Warning): EXTRA_LAYERS EXTRA_PARAMS STARTPARM STARTLAYER BURIED_FEAT etc...ModelUPDATE Checks (ptc.com) This means if I have MC check to see if things are missing or provide a warning that there may be layers that are not needed, MU will auto-delete them.  But what if they are useful?  I cannot warn the user to look at them and see if they make sense!   Even worse, it will delete buried features automatically just because I want a user to lo

In part modeling, can someone explain what is the point of the copy geometry function, set for local referencing type:     A real-life example would be great.  I find that help provided in this article is not particularly useful.   Seems to me that if there was a way to transform the copy by specifying coordinate systems, then this would be more useful.  Right now though, it is just annoying that this option is pre-selected many times I initiate the copy geom command - I wonder if there is way to prevent it from being available?

See bottom. How can I use a relative path when including reference worksheets? The documentation suggests it is possible: "By default the include region displays the absolute path to the referenced worksheet. You can edit the path and make it relative." I am collaborating with colleagues on a number of worksheets that include references to other worksheets. These are documents that 3 of us access and edit. We are currently using OneDrive, but the issue would remain even if all documents were emailed around. The "Include: path" changes, but all worksheets can exist in a single parent folder, or even a grandparent folder (which should work with a proper 'relative setup') I have tried various ways like: ../  or ./ or / or //https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/io/file-path-formats I have found some ancient* threads discussing and confirming this ability as far back as 2004, but nothing new, or recent

I'm working on setting up standard notes for our company. I haven't found any satisfactory way to do this yet. The main failing is that Creo notes don't have formatting for numbered lists. I can create these manually, but if a standard note needs to be added or deleted, the entire note may need to be renumbered. Also, if a note needs to be resized (particularly made narrower), word wrap doesn't understand the intent of indentations and wraps to the left edge of the note, without preserving the indent.Has anyone found a way to manage this better?

As per the original post.    Does anyone know if there is a "wildcard" symbol that can be used for a mapkey?  I'm trying to create a mapkey that starts a new drawing.  It pauses for the name input, then selects the correct drawing template.  What I can't seem to get it to do is always select the highest level assembly as the default model for the drawing.  All of our highest level assemblies have a "-501" at the end of the name, with a different identifying number proceeding that.  Is there a way to make it just find the file with "-501.asm" in the name?  Coincidentally, this identifying number is also the name of the drawing - can that information be used since it is added prior to the assembly search?

I am using Creo Parametric Release 8.0 and Datecode8.0.3.0Create a custom drawing when a new part is created. I have a start part and a drawing template with the same name and in the same directory. The drawing calls out 6 views which are named in the start part drawing. When the new drawing is created, I can see the views in the drawing tree, the model is shown in the model tree, however the drawing views are not populated with the models. If I select all the views in the drawing tree, and select edit properties, and change the display style to any other style than the drawing default and select apply, the views then become populated. I then have to re-select the display style back to the default style and select apply for the correct style view. Why would this be happening, and is there a solution to this issue? I get the same behaviour in Creo 4 M010 and Creo 8.0.3.0

In drawing. How to call out information about cables passing through particular location as a leader note pointing to this location. The note should be a parametric. So as i change cables routing, and cables passing through this location are change, the note should update automatically. Now i acquire information using Feature Information tool, copy part of this information and paste them into the note but this is not right solution. If i can get this information using feature info tool, there should be some kind of parameter containing this information

I have a text file with comma delimited numerical data.  I read it in to the "ld" table and then have a program to parse through and build a matrix from the data (data file attached).  My questions: 1) Can I replace the "11" in my for statement with something like "length of (ld)" so my code works when I change the number of rows of data? 2) Is there a way to build the Ypos matrix without using the intermediary Yp matrix?  I know Ypos is only defined inside the program - but is there a way to make it "global" or such? 3) Is it possible to populate 2 different matrices with 1 program?  So my code would create both a Yp and a second matrix?  If my code creates a Ypos and Yneg how would I pass both of them out?  thanks,relayman357  

If I copy several rows of code from a program, and paste them in I get an extra "indention" set of double bars.  I want the pasted code to have the same "level" as the code in which I'm pasting it.

Place region has a different behavior than keep in and keep out, is it not possible to select one side, and when imported in Cadence Allegro appears to be on both side. Is it bossible to have same behvior as place keepin and place keep out. Place region: option one side is not accessible. Place keepin: Option one side only is accessible    

What's the best way to create a curve along a spline through points without having to manually select each point.  Is there a way to enter a range (Ex. Point 1 - Point 100) where it will select the points that way?

Using Creo 7.0.5.0. As Creo use this Session type of environment and never warns you about closing a single file due to unsaved changes I'm more or less saving all the time (afraid of loosing stuff in case of a crash). This leads to creating a lot of duplicates of the same files (or miniscule differences). It only warns when the session/program as a whole is closed, and then you better be sure you saved everything that you closed previously.... Then I realised this:- Even if I open A FRESH instance of Creo, and open NO files, does no changes to any settings or similar and then close down: CREO STILL WARNS about closing the session and loosing unsaved work. This means the warning is just a dummy prompt that has absolutely no clue of if the files have been saved or not. I'm sorry to say this, but HOW ON EARTH can such a high end software be this.... st_pid?!  Even Notepad can detect changes properly....  I've searched for other threads and ideas about this, but n

Using Creo 8.0.4.0I have an assembly with 4 simplified representations-each state represent a stage in the assembly process, so the simplified representation begins with few components and the final one has all the parts. I need a BoM table on the drawing sheet, which I made by linking the repeat region to the default rep which lists all the components within, but I am facing issues with BoM balloons. How do I make BoM balloons to appear on the different representational views?I tried creating multiple tables for each representational view, but then the tables will have reoccurring parts and since the repeat regions are different, I can't find a way to get rid of duplicate parts across different tables. Alternatively, I tried a different approach where I do not use simplified representations at all but used different layers to hide parts and created 4 combined states with those layers. But on the drawing, I cannot select the combined state along with the default representation.&nb

Hi, I was doing some calculations using Prime 7 and Excel through macros. Basically, the program passes some values from Excel to Mathcad to calculate and the results are printed back to Excel. It worked fine. I recently formatted my laptop and installed Prime 8. I am waiting for the license so, in the meantime, I am using the 30-days trial with full functionality. I tried to use the same Prime-Excel program but it shows the following error when I run the macro: "User-defined type not defined". I have the Ptc.MathcadPrime.Automation.tlb file to VBA, as shown in the attached image. Is there something I am missing? Maybe this functionality is restricted to users with license? Thanks!

  When I perform a copy geometry in an assembly the features such as points, axis, or plane are not displayed on the model.  I have to go into the layer tree and and "show" them as they are listed under hidden items.   The couple extra steps to do that are driving me wild as I deal with complex assemblies that utilize many copy geometries.  It hasn't always been this way, I thought this might be a config setting of some sort but I couldn't find anything.   Anybody have a solution to this? The reference article shows you can assign the layer of the copy geom under Include Properties but I do not have that.

Hello, I am new to Creo and CAD in general. I work in fabrication mainly but am slowly learning various CAD and CAM systems. I am currently working on a project in Creo 7.0 where I am attempting to convert solid models into sheet metal parts with layout lines to be used in a CNC scribing and cutting operation.  The end product is something like this, this particular component only has "flat" geometry so none of the following was required.  This is the part file I am starting with. The main plate is a sketched line that is extruded upward and outward to create the height and thickness. Then the smaller extrusions are sketched and extruded off of the main plate.  The following are steps I am taking to produce a usable view to cut on the CNC machine.  First, I am using the Convert to Sheet Metal tool. I select the flat surface on the right as the driving surface and add purple highlighted sections of the plate to the included surfaces so the whole p

This is an enhancement request to support the export of QIF files from Creo Parametric.   We typically use STEP or some other type of neutral file to feed our downstream processes.  Those formats do work, but looking forward we think the QIF format may provide some additional benefits because it's XML-based.  Computers love to read XML.   As of this date, we are on Creo Parametric 4, but I still have not seen any mention of QIF export up through Creo Parametric 7.  Maybe PTC can comment if they have a plan.   Now, this may suggestion may already exist.  I did do a few different searches on PTC Community, but didn't see anything.   Thanks, Keith
