Creo+ and Creo Parametric

On Parametric 10.0.3.0, I'm unable to retrieve a .prt file from Windchill which was previously checked in by another user (who is utilizing the same version/license etc)   The first time I tried opening it - Creo crashed with a pop up from my graphics driver (not Creo) saying that the session had crashed (attached eventvwr log at the end) Any of the following times - I get a white screen as though its about to load but eventually I get the "cannot be retrieved" message   I have tried by clearing the workspace and using a brand new workspace too - no progress there.   Will also be trying to upload the prt file on my end using a local copy sent by the creator of that .prt file - shall update soon.   Shall also update with the tip on opening the prt in a text editor as mentioned in this thread. It does open in Creo View without any hitches, so I cannot figure what's wrong!   Event viewer log on the crash -        Log Name: System Source: n

I am in the process of creating new Creo Parametric start parts and have a question. When these parts are used, when creating a new part, the New  File Options dialog displays some parameters, but doesn't include all the parameters in the start part.    What I am trying to figure out is how to determine which parameters are displayed and which ones are not. In the attachment, only about 25% of the total parameters are being displayed. My goal is to limit which parameters are shown and what order they are displayed in.    I am using Creo Parametric 8.0.1.0    

I received an email with the two license files attached but I am not sure why.  Is it an update?  I can't find PTCUPDATE.BAT on the server to install it.  I don't even know if it is necessary.

I make big machines like Booms for heavy equipment.  We use reference curves to plot relevant coordinates while drawing piece parts.  The reference curves could be quite large.  For example the boom could be 200 feet long in total, but I'm modeling something that is 6" X 6".  When I go to draw the part, the whole curve area is represented, even though the curve is hidden  in a layer, and I only use it as reference.  It makes projection views very difficult because sliding left, right, up, down, for the next view creates the huge outline from the curve and makes me zoom out like 400X just to get the view to drop in the drawing.  My question is.  Does anyone know how to get rid of the curve reference so that my projection view only has a small margin around the view instead of 400X area?** just upgraded to Creo 9,

Hello, I am using Creo parametric educational/academic edition 10.0.1.0. When I go to File>Prepare>Model Properties I scroll down to the "detailing" section and see "Tolerancing standard" set to "ISO/DIN Medium" and "Tolerancing standard verison" set to "ISO 1101:2017". I would like to have this information in a drawing, so that the drawing updates if I set it to "coarse" for example. I am aware that it sets the tolerance table for general tolerances, and that I can use it to automatically display tolerances in a dimension in a view.   Is there a way to include the values of theese model properties (tolerance class) in a note or repeat region? Or a way to read them into or from a model parameter?   I have searched the forum, the reference and the web for answers but found nothing on the matter.

Hello everyone! I stumbled across a problem while duplicating my cavity assemblies in creo for the emx extension. When you get your mold manufacturing components in the emx application you have to duplicate the cavity but when I tried I get this message and don't know why. All Creo parts for an assembly are in the directory but won't open assembly correctly, says missing parts. When opening in Creo View all parts show up. Trying to create a STEP for file for our vendors. Any ideas here?

In cabling/schematics, we can show our pins in our BOM by referencing the connector port parameters, but is there any way to automatically bring other parts into our harness models or drawings, like wedgelocks, wire seals, etc. Thanks! I'm on Creo 9 

I am trying to route a cable harness and it uses several of the same connector that are located next to each other. I keep running into the issue of Creo wanting to merge my location points of the two connectors that are placed next to each other. I designated them as two separate connectors with their own entry ports. Does anyone know what went wrong? How can I fix this so it allows for a separate wire to each connector and keep the network continuous?   I am running Creo version 7. Thanks.

Hello, I´m new on Creo, actually working with version 5.  I came from Solidworks and I want to know the equivalent command to "exclude from bill of materials" / "envelope" on Creo. The idea is to use parts (or sub assemblies) that are not taken into account for the BOM, but serves as a reference to position some other components in the assembly.   Thanks in advance.

Since this a very advanced (many will think unsupported) use case, I will start with I used this functionality for over a decade design space equipment for Lockheed Martin and United Launch Alliance. It definitely did work perfectly up until I stopped using commercial code with Creo 9.0. So, I'm pretty sure we're talking a bug here... and a very important one for my use case because all my designs start with CAE models that work for FEA and rigid-body analyses and then, once a concept is viable, I use those to drive production geometry. For the large vehicle models I do almost all of my upfront work is with curves and surfaces to represent ground and mechanism components AND support quick FEA using beams and shells. I just started using the creo drawings package (not impressed BTW)  and no where do I see the capabilities to add a chamfer dimension on a drawing.  Does Creo have this ability like Inventor/Solidworks/SolidEdge?Frank

Hello, I have a projected sketch that is on a flat surface parallel to the original sketch. However, when I use the extrude command I am unable to use my projected sketch as a sketch to extrude. Is there some trick to using projected sketches? It appears as if it's just a normal sketch but won't let me do anything with it.

Hello, I'm in Creo 10 trying to make an assembly drawing, where one part is a skeleton model / surface shrinkwrap of a more complex part. Other parts exist in this assembly and I want to make a section view. The problem is that the skeleton model lines are still visible behind the normal parts which makes the section cluttery and it is difficult to highlight the parts that I want to show. Is there some way to hide parts of the skeleton somehow with layers or something? I have searched around and found somewhat similar issues but haven't found any solution that worked for me.

I am use Creo 5.0. I know in Creo, there is a solution for this pipe slope problem:  "Slope Mark" in pipe model or drawing , This can solve the installation problem. In food and pharmaceutical area, its a normal requirement for pipe slope. Some lines even not allowed horizontal pipe exist . Now we dont show the slope in 3D model. We cant use the 3D pipe model make manufacturing drawing. Also some times, if the line is long and space is limited, offten have some interference problems in workshop or site. So if there any way to make "slope" angle in 3D model and use standard welding elbow?.      

Running Creo 10. Tried to create a new Datum A. However, it says the label was duplicated and gave me the squiggly underline. I checked my tree, and there is no other Datum A anywhere in it.

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could give any advice on how to model a cam track from an old drawing. I have one idea so far; to draw the profile of the track on a plane and then project it on the outer face of the cam. Then cutting it with a sweep. Unsure if this will work for the whole track, definitely a misunderstanding on my part somewhere. If anyone has any tips, advice or just a better way to do it, I'm all ears.  This is what I have so far. I'm also not entirely sure what "LEAD A" is or how the angles (B and C) relate to the shape in 3D. Perhaps it needs to be calculated to an arc? I have been using values from the first line,  This is what it should look like in the end. Thank you for any time you may put in to this!

A bit of a long shot but ... I wonder, is it possble to embed the Mathcad calculation in Creo drawing? I'd imagine it would look like an image inserted into a drawing, but instead of a dumb image it would show the current Mathcad document. I'd imagine it could work similarly to how MS excel sheet can be embedded inside MS Word document - it looks like an image but if you double click it - an embedded excel opens up. I can find that it's possible to embed Mathcad document into the Creo model and use it to drive the model, but I am simply  looking for a way to display the mathcad document on the drawing. I am currently making a screenshot of a Mathcad and then inserting it into Creo. It does the job but I wonder if there is a smarter way to see embed a document rather than making a screenshot. Thank you!
