This is a mini-post based on a question that I received: “If I have a designed a multibody model, how can I save out a single body to STEP , .STL or any other format?” The answer is pretty straightforward and involves either the remove-body feature (see blog post #10) or construction bodies (see blog post #13) or derived models (see blog post #12 and later).   Method #1: Remove all other bodies using the remove-body feature Export(“Save A Copy”) the model to your desired format Undo the remove / delete the remove-body feature / suppress the remove-body feature Method #2: Set all other bodies to “Construction body” Invoke Export(“Save A Copy”) the model to your desired format Open the “Options”-menu in the “Save A Copy” dialog and ensure the Construction Body checkbox is unchecked Finishing the operation will then only save the remaining (non-construction) body The problem here might be that you need

Good morning.  Wondering if anyone can help me with something for my programming guys.  We are in process of moving to Creo 6 for machine programming and one my guys noticed when he is doing a standard drilling cycle, pecking, or tapping that the parameters for the tools selected are being auto-populated by a relation and not leaving the parameter tab yellow, signaling to my guys they still need to select the right pre-made drill parameter file for the operation.  The auto-populated amounts are extremely high cut feeds and spindle speeds.  The concern here is if the auto-populated amounts get forgotten and not changed it could be bad.  In Creo 3, which we use now, it does not do this and leaves the tab yellow with empty cut feeds and spindle speeds, even after the tool is selected.  We can then go and select a drilling parameter to use which will fill in the proper feeds and speeds.  I'm wondering how I can eliminate these auto-populated relations tha

Hi,   Please can anyone help me.   I have developed a main assembly model with number of sub assembly and parts.   Sub assembly ID is available in main assembly pro-program, but part ID is not available in main assembly proprogram.   Can you please help me to find part ID in main assembly pro-program to continue the relations.   Thank you.

I use Creo 2.0; when I open a file in the open file window appear the preview area.This happens automatically, also if the function in the config.pro file is disabled.I kindly ask how to proceed to definitively disable this functionality.Thanks in advanceAndrea

How to define custom CSYS for the imported model or how to set custom position:

Does anyone have any guides/tips on how to set up coaxial cable in Creo Cabling? I know there's a way to set up multi-conductor and ribbon cables, but was wondering if anyone has done coax-style cable.   In a second, somewhat related question, I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how they would model the cable as pictured below. I was able to model it, but I used a lot of curves, sweeps, and a helical sweep in order to do the coiled area.  It was a mess and I feel it should have been a simpler process. This model just represents a coax cable between two offset connectors with a service loop.  

I have an extrusion created from a sketch. If I make any modifications to the sketch, all of my strong, locked dimensions somehow get changed to reference and all new weak dimensions are populated everywhere and all my previous geometry is lost and I have to start dimensioning everything all over again. I'm about ready to throw my computer across the room.

I have found plenty of helpful guides for creating wires or cable bundles within Creo Cabling, but I can't seem to find any information on creating Coax-style cables, where all separate conductors/layers run along a single axis.  Has anyone created coaxial / RF cable spools that can help me?   Thanks

I recently switched from Creo 4.0 to 6.0 and when that happened I can no longer find the options to change the spin center of the model. The spin center changes if I use the MMB, but if I use the 3D mouse the part always spins at the part origin. I have SPIN_CENTER_DISPLAY, SPIN_WITH_ORIENTATION_CENTER, SIM_DISPLAY_IN_SPIN, and SIM_PP_DISPLAY_SPIN_CENTER all set to "no" but the spin center never changes. How can a CAD software package not be compatible with a 3D mouse?

I am having the users delete the c:\users\<username>\.wf folder as part of the upgrade to Windchill 11.1 and Creo7. One user cannot deleted it even after rebooting. I had an IT admin try and he sees the file but he also gets a message that the file cannot be deleted saying the file does not exist. Any suggestions?

Hello! I have a problem with the edges in shaded modus. Circle is not round any more. I have tested: edge_display_quality very_high  edge tess quality also the preferences  the shade quality Nothing changes. Dou you have some advices for me?   Thank you!  

I'm trying to place a 120° angle dimension in sketcher, but Creo 6.0 will only place the dimension as the oppostie 240° angle. Is there  any way to force the orientation of an angle dimension? I've tried change the order of my line selection and the placement of the dimension with the middle click, but it always places the same dimension. Why does Creo always default to the largest possible value of any angle dimension?  

Hi, I'm Fabio and I'm using Creo 7. I have a question about line thickness in Sketch mode. For example when I create a new part and select the sketch mode I notice that when I hover the mouse over the center line, the line changes color to green and the thickness increases a lot or when I draw a circle, for example, and I confirm the size, the circular line turns green and the thickness increases considerably. Is it possible to change the thickness of this green line? I have already changed the SKETCHER_LINE_WIDTH parameter in config.pro but it's not that. I noticed that in Creo 6 this green line is thin and not thick like in Creo 7. Thanks for any help. bye Fabio    

Hello everyone,I recently switched from Creo 2.0 to Creo 8.0, the transition was not painless ...Visually I find it very annoying that in Creo 8.0 the highlighted sketch lines increase in thickness.Can you suggest a way to prevent them from becoming thicker?I tried to look in the config but I found only the "sketch_thick_dim_line_highlight" option which normalizes the thickness of the dimensions and the "sketcher_line_width" option set to 1 to normalize the thickness of the geometries.I expected to find an option also for the thickness of the sketch lines highlighting but I didn't find it ... My eyes will forever be grateful to anyone who wants to help me!P.S. I'm using Creo 8.0.0.0

I'm guessing you can do what I'm about to ask, but I just can't get it to work.   I want to automatically show the cross hatch defined in the material definition in a section view on a drawing. I would think this should be pretty simple to do.   I define the cross hatch for the material by entering the name of the cross hatch under Misc./Detailing/Cross Hatch of the material definition. See .PNG below. I want to use a Hatch PAT not a Hatch XCH.   However, when I create the section view in a drawing the hatching that is displayed is the random hatching that Creo assigns to it.   What I'm I not doing? Hello, I have a project that involves the need to find the porosity values of two different lattice structures (1 randomized, 1 patterned). I've had no luck finding these values from the software. Is there a way to obtain these values from a stochastic and uniform square lattice structure without having the need to calculate the porosity?

Please contact your sales rapresentative"Before installing Creo 8, I used the last version of Creo 7 and Simulate ran correctly.I see in the license txt file that the two list items (#MECELITEENG_License, #MECELITEUI_License) are at least for Creo 7, while Creo SImulate and Creo ANSYS are for the 8. Hi Everyone, How do I create a diameter dimension using the free VB API (I'm using C#)? Additionally, the selection must be programmatic. I'm selecting an edge entity, using empty dimension senses, and no orientation hint. I know everything aside from orientation is working because it successfully creates a radius dimension (instead of diameter).
