I have two bearing rails on either side of a drill chuck. Ordinarily, in my previous program, I would construct a line between the two outer parts, then move the inner part by selecting on it's center, and moving to the midpoint of the line I constructed, with a filter allowing it to only move in the plane I choose. But with Creo, I cannot even snap on a part that isn't active. So in order to even draw the line between the two outer parts, I have to activate one, put a workplane on it, draw a point in the corner; go over to the other outer part, activate it, then draw a line between the active part, and the point I drew. Then I can snap to that midpoint, and move my part. Is this really how it's done, or is there some easier way? Also, is there a way to snap to parts that aren't activated? Some commands do, some don't. And it seems the commands where I need it, it isn't there, and vice versa. I have to add that I'm getting addicted to this program. It's a lo
Besten Dank und viele Grüße J. Hello, it would be nice if there is a snap command when I move lines or dimensions. That could be a square like in other CAD-programs. This would be helpful to find the exactly point where the lines or dimensions should be positioned. Hi I am new to Modelling Express this seams an obvious question but how do I drill a hole in an existing model. I have an STL from a manufaturer for a simple ABS plastic box consisting of 6 parts the base, the lid and the 4 screws. My question is how do I drill a hole in the base I have created a workplane and drawn a circle but I cannot seem to create a hole in the one side of the box. If I use punch it goes through both sides of the base. When I look online there is only reference to the drill command which is not present in modelling express. So how do I do it?This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Does someone know how to inquire the :base_face, :flat_origin and :flat_direction of a flat view in annotation. I tried to do it with (sd-am-inq-view), but I can't find these things. We already create one flat view, but we want to have a sheet with a second flat that is completely the same like the first flat. So it would be handy to get these attributes out of the first one. Does somebody know how to inquire this? thanks in advanceThis thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. I am using Creo Elements/Direct for the first time. I am attempting to do the initial quickstart project (create an interlocking block). I am having difficulties drawing a rectangle on the workplane. I am at the step where the following message appears in the lower left corner: specify the first corner point of the rectangle. Clicking on the plane does nothing, and holding the left mouse button while dragging the mouse does nothing. How do I draw this rectangle? This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. RegoThis thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. I was wondering if Creo Elements/Direct had the ability to open and modify native drawing ".drw" files created in Creo Parametric. If they can not open these drawing files, is there a possible alternative for being able to edit drawings in both programs? This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. We started using WorkManager in the late 90s and Model Manager since about 2005. Originally, when the files were saved, a VRML file (*.wrl) was created with the model. Since VRML are really pretty useless and take up a lot of disk space I want to find them and delete them. How can I find these files in Model Manager? I know that I can use the Project 2D Edge command to copy from one workplane to another. But as far as I can tell, I have to select each element individually. I have tried box selecting elements, but I have not been able to get it to work. Is there a way to quickly select multiple 2D elements to copy from one workplane to another? (I have a workplane with over 50 elements that I need to copy.) I should also note that I know how to copy an entire workplane, but in my case my workplane already contains a lot of 2D geometry-I copied one workplane to get most of the geometry, now I need to copy from another workplane to get the rest. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hi everyone, Beginner with PTC (or any other CAD-software), so bear with me. I am using PTC Creo Elements for a small private project. This is probably a dumb question but I failed to find a solution. I have designed a pipe with some holes and pins at either end. When I want to extend the length of the pipe, the new part is always added at the end of the pipe, while the holes/pins stay at place. However, I want them to be at the ends of the extended pipe, because this is where I want to join another pipe. Is there a way to extend the pipe "in the middle"? I tried adding a new workplane in the middle of the pipe inserting a new part but that didn't work. Do I have to create a pipe with the "proper" length in the first place? I actually want to try out some different lengths. I have tried to find a solution using the search function without success. Probably the answer is too simple to raise a question in this forum. Any idea is truly appreciated pbachertThis thread
