Hi everyone, Beginner with PTC (or any other CAD-software), so bear with me. I am using PTC Creo Elements for a small private project. This is probably a dumb question but I failed to find a solution. I have designed a pipe with some holes and pins at either end. When I want to extend the length of the pipe, the new part is always added at the end of the pipe, while the holes/pins stay at place. However, I want them to be at the ends of the extended pipe, because this is where I want to join another pipe. Is there a way to extend the pipe "in the middle"? I tried adding a new workplane in the middle of the pipe inserting a new part but that didn't work. Do I have to create a pipe with the "proper" length in the first place? I actually want to try out some different lengths. I have tried to find a solution using the search function without success. Probably the answer is too simple to raise a question in this forum. Any idea is truly appreciated pbachertThis thread
I downloaded a copy of the free PTC Creo Element/direct Modeling Express and can't find the beginner's tutorials/documents. Hi all, I will be more precise. We have many computers that run Creo Elements 5 M250 and Creo View 3. On a single computer and for a single user it fails to start. If launched as a standalone program from start, programs, etc, it only runs for 1-3 seconds before crashing. It can only be monitored shortly from the task manager, as nothing actually appears. If launched as a plugin of IE or Chrome, I only get a white empty page without anything in it. The weird thing is that on the same computer, if we logged in as different users, the program works fine. At the same time, if the user logs in on another computer the program works as well. Unfortunaltely, I have been autorizhed to rebuild his profile on his machine, which I think could help us, so I would like to know if someone has any idea of what I could do to help the user. I have already unistalled and installed "everything", creo view, creo elements, java, desktop integration, etc. but with no results. The
I am trying to move a part. The 3D copilot appears (I think that is what it is called, the 3d thing with the arrows and rings that you pull to move an object) but it wants to move the part in directions that are set at 45 degrees offset from the directions I need to move the part. I tried to see if there was a way for me to reorient the global coordinate system but could not find a way to do that. I created a new coordinate system successfully - but it has no effect on anything! What good is a new coordinate system if you can't move parts or measure relative to it????? I see no way to make it the active coordinate system. I looked through the help file and so far have not found a way to make a new coordinate system the active one. I also tried creating a new workplane and then orienting it in the appropriate direction and then pressing F8 to show the coordinate system of that plane (which is oriented as I need it to be) but then when I go to move the part the 3d copilot is orien
Has anyone used the Dell Precision M2800 laptop with Creo/Elements Pro(WF5)? I just received two and they lock up every few minutes when usingCreo/Elements Pro. Typically it locks up when I'm trying to spin or zoom.I suspect a graphics card driver issue. I purchased this model because it was a certified system, but I'mdisappointed so far. My driver version is: 13.352.1002.0On the PTC site it says driver version: 13.251.1.1000I'm using Creo/Elements Pro M200 Does that mean I have to go to dell.com and find the previous driver forthis machine to work correctly? I am going through a nine part video titled: Video: Creo Direct Modeling Express, making a clock so that I can become familiar with Creo Elements / Direct Modelling Express. I am trying to learn and understand everything the author does in the video. In part 4 of the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh9pnhNXtjo) at about 8:40 the author pulls a part from a sketch on a workplane. But the part is created some distance away from the workplane, instead of right on the workplane. Why did that happen? Am I missing something? How do you do that? -VincentThis thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hi all, when in the mesh there are more of one type of element (generally tetra) we have a different color of the elements: a different kind of blue. in creo 2 we have the possibility of generate a more detailed mesh, so we can use also wedge and brick elements. But I think wedges and bricks have the same colour. It would be nice to have the possibility of deciding the colour of each element. Is there already this possibility? This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. PTC always changes icons too, and one that causes me issues anyway, is the "close window" icon. There use to be a red X in it, and not it looks too much like other file icons. The workaround is to create your own mapkey to fix it as PTC does not allow you to edit system icons. PLEASE put the red X back in the close window icon. This makes it very easy to see and understand what it is for. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hi all, although in AutoGem settings it is setted a max aspect ratio of the elements of 10, where there are bricks and wedges this rule is not observed. You can see the image below. I am in CREO and my windows all go blank? All the files are still there in the top window menu and grouped in the toolbar at the bottom. I am also able to save my files and see the text activity in the status area at the top.Any thoughts on how to remedy this without exiting out?DougCreo elements/pro5.0 M100WIN 7This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Why is there a second icon that launches for Creo Elements/Direct 18.1 on Windows 8.X? Other applications reuse the same icon on taskbar for the opened application too. It confuses some people who see it, at first glance, and they think there are 2 CAD applications open. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Greetings all. We are upgrading to Windchill 10.2 and Creo 2.0 from Windchill 9.1 and Pro/Elements 5.0 We are wanting to use the "Mark up" funciton in Creo View to both mark up our drawings in the review process and to retain the information for later review of the design process. I am looking for best practices, and how to understand the way that Creo View works. How are annotations preserved when the revision changes? Will the annotation stay with the revision it was added to, or will it transmit to the next revision? Also, will they stay permanently or are they deleted when a Creo drawing or model is released? I am looking for assistance in exporting a creo elements/pro 5.0 drawing to an ACAD drawing that will not only keep the integrity of the creo elements/pro 5.0 text but also allow me to edit the text once exported to ACAD. after a few "save a copy" & "publish" setting variations, I am left with either non-matching but edittable text in ACAD or exact text matchings but non-edittable - like that if they were imported as a .dxf file. Is there any, clean method via settings, formats, configs etc. that this conversion can happen cleaning? This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hello All, A simple model comprising a cylindrical bar held at one end. The constraint is defined in a cylindrical csys as it is desired the bar should rotate relative to an applied load. The rotation should be achieved using an enforced displacement constraint. The enforced displacement is THETA. I would have expected the bar to rotate, (rigid body) but instead the elements on the constrained face wind up. Model attached. (which can't get much simpler) No forces applied. Only one enforced displacement constraint. everything linear. small mpg attached for those who don't want to run a model. Can someone point out the obvious mistake. TeresaThis thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. This thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. Hello Community, I'm trying to learn a CAD program so I can design an electric tractor. I recently downloaded Creo Element/Direct Modeling Express 4.0 and started with the tutorials to get familiar with the commands and how to do this stuff. Things started off fine and I was able to manipulate my drawings in real time without any lag. After a couple of sessions I started having problems moving my parts around. When I tried to drag or view my part in a different angle everything went into slow motion mode with terrible lag. It makes it so I can't use this program...it's too frustrating! So, It DID work and now it doesn't and I changed nothing on my computer. Any hints to what may be the issue or has anybody else had the same problem? I'm on a PC running Windows Vista Home Premium ( yeah I know, a friend gave me this computer so I can't complain ) SP2, with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10GHz, 2 GB RAM on a 32-bit operationg system. &n
