Mathcad

Have been using Matlab and Mathcad since the 80's.   If I pull up a bit of 1980's Matlab code and try to run it, Matlab identifies the obsolete entries, I tweak them and it runs in a few minutes.   Mathcad has no backward compatibility.  As an instructor, it is unusable for class.  Users of different versions can't share files.  University has a license,  I have a license.  Students down load a trial version. Different versions. It is miserable.  It hurts my street cred with students that I use it.   I tell the students that since at least 2008 Mathcad has made using the software a hardship.     The best I have seen in put is that buying "prime is like buying the tail to get the dog".  PTC's solution is to kill the dog?   Duly noted that this has been remarked on for decades and usually more articulately than I have done here.  Just reminding PTC this is an acute pain point.

Hi, I am very new to mathcad, and am wondering if anyone could help me solve why when using Prime 7's inbuilt xmcd converter, the output of my for loop is no longer a matrix for all values of k, but the output for the final number of k only. I have tried re-writing the for-loop from scratch but that still gives me the same result.   Thanks in advance.

Hello   I used Mathcad 15. Due to termination of Mathcad 15 I am forced to switch to Prime. I used the internal conversion tool in Prime 7. The converter shows me several hundred conversion problems (converter is unsure if the conversion is correct...) Sometimes the conversion works. Sometimes not. Even if I converte the same file several times. I also observed the behavior that if I convert the same file multiple times I receive different conversion results.   Now I want to export my Mathcad15 in MathML. Not in simple HTML. I want a real MathML. I already exported the mathcad to HTML. But this export is .... "suboptimal". The formulas are exported as images. I can not copy them in a useful way.   --> Is there a way to export from Mathcad 15 into MathML? (Export from Prime in MathML is not suitable for me because the conversion into Prime does not work). --> Is there a plan/date when the converter (MC15->Prime) is fully functional?   Best regards   Mar

Hi, I am trying to optimize the solution of minimization function depending on the intial guess values. Surprisingly, my solutions are independent of initial guess values even though the function has several local minima. I am attaching the Mathcad 15 worksheet for the refrence. Can any of the "READ" functions in Mathcad Prime 7 import a text file to a vector of lines, whilst retaining all leading and trailing spaces?   I can easily write a short function using READBIN to get the job done, but I'd rather just use one of the READ functions.    Unfortunately,  I'm having a minor brain meltdown due to the extreme temperatures and humidity we're experiencing in my part of  Scotland (25 C and 64% RH), and I've gone option blind.   Everything I've tried ends up losing leading or trailing spaces.   Cheers,   Stuart

I'm making a thread calculator.  In order to check whether user input returns a 'typical/standard thread combination' or not (e.g. UNC, UNF, etc.), I want to have a master check list matrix, probably with a vhlookup. I'm lazy and don't feel like copying EACH element NaN...is there no way to select a bunch and copy it into the next row/column? I can copy multiple entries and paste a nested into one entry location, but not copy them over into multiple elements. I've seen a couple threads about using functions to make an empty matrix, but I can't quite figure it out...and really I'd probably want to make a filled matrix, and then manually edit some elements.

Does Mathcad Prime 7.0's Combo Box support units with exponents?  I am trying to enter steel properties in and when I type in^4 and in^3 that is exactly how it looks instead of in⁴ or in³.    

Hi, I am trying to find the local minimum of a function using Minimize function in Mathcad 15. I would like to use the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. However, I am unable to select this option from the menu, see the image below.  Please let me know if it is poosible with Minimize function.   Many thanks S  

I would like to convert my equations in a MathCad worksheet directly into a higher language (C or C++, or other) to run on a super computer.  Is there a software or second source software that can do this directly?

Does Express Prime 7 include the xmcd converter? I cannot access it.

Hi,   First post here. i am trying to compute the following equation but unsure of what the error message is meaning and how to rectify. I have included the equation from the Eurocode in the screen shot.   Any help is much appreciated. 

Mathcad Express Prime 3.1 program will not open. It worked when I first installed it but after a week or so, I tried to open it again and got an error message. When I hit, "OK" the message disappears. When I try to open the program, the program does not open and the message comes back. This just repeats and the program never opens. Here's the error message that pops up on the screen:An Unhandled exception occured on the dispatcher thread. SeeC:\Program Data\PTC\Mathcad Prime\Logs\MathcadPrime_Exception_20210712_100352.logfor more information. Prime will attempt to save any modified files andclose.Please restart the application. OK

I am using Mathcad 15.0 unknownI need to create several user-defined functions which are globally accessible to many programs in the same way in which built-in functions are accessible. preferably, i would like my user-defined functions to be located within a separate directory/file than the programs which will be using them.i need some assistance in doing this.Donald MacNeil

Änderungen vornimmt" ich klicke aus "Ja" und danach passiert nichts mehr!   ------------- Setup menu cannot be opened! The setup menu cannot be opened. I have already extracted the folder, but when I try to open the "setup" file, the pop-up "Would you like to allow ... to make changes" appears, I click "Yes" and nothing more happens!

Installation process never completes it always crashes at 1%

Hello,I recently bought a new computer and now I have a problem installing Mathcad and Creo. After unpacking the zip and double clicking the setup.exe the mouse turns into this spinning thing for a few seconds and thats it. I dont receive an error message, just nothing happens.

Hello everyone, The data points of a 3D surface are supplied in the accompanying worksheet. I'm looking for a slice of the surface at any azimuth angle. Through interpolation, I was able to extract the function that describes the surface. The function slice(phi) was subsequently constructed to slice the surface at any angle phi. Due to missing points on the original data on the rim, the interpolated function shows irrational behavior around the edges (except at zero and half-pi angle). In this example, the rim is a circle of diameter of 15.8.   What are your recommendations for dealing with this issue?   I am grateful for your aid.Best,Payman

@LucMeekes ....With your help from my previous post , I was able create a n excel table based on the timing matrix (both attached, plot the  waveform and then calculated average Power dissipation in a cycle... Can i do the same plot and find average  using range variable(from time vs power matrix), there by i can skip the excel part of it? Can you show me an example? Thank you Jacob

I have the below circuit for which the switch combinations S1,S2,Sx,Sy[0000...1111] gives me 16 combinations of Va voltages. I have 16 equations for the voltage values. From the equations I am trying to derive the Rc1, Rc2, Rc3 , Rc4 and Rbd transfer function. Please refer attached Mathcad sheet. The issue is, it takes forever to calculate the functions. What I could do to get the symbolic equations? EDIT : One thing I am thinking is to remove the node R2--Sy and then i'll have 8 combinations of Va. The Is and Va values are measurable quantities in my case, the switches and R1,R2 is my addition to the circuit with the intention to get individual transfer functions for Rc1..Rc4 and Rbd.

installation issue. Unable to download the Mathcad prime. I am a current student at Texas A&M. I need to install this software as soon as possible.
