Mathcad

I'm trying to set up a solve block so I can call it as a function. In the this case it will find what cable size matches the manufacturers specifications and return the subscript for which it is at. But it keeps telling me that the variable is undefined. Can you explain what I'm doing wrong here?

I've recently been using the Table feature as an easy way to list my input after seeing an exmaple posted here.  This spawned a few observations that may be of interest.     First, a one row table is a scalar and not a vector.  It's handy, but I've never seen it documented that this is an intended feature.       Next, I was entering data and tried to enter data as follows (a calculation).  I wasn't optimistic it would work, but it gives an answer for D_2.  It's the right value - but has changed units.    So, it appears that the unit in the table heading is simply multiplied by whatever is in the column.  Here's  how I get what I'm after (remove the column units).         I guess this was surprising as I expected D2 to be inches no matter what I entered.  And if the units didn't work out I expected an error.  But, D2 in fact comes through with whatever it calculates.

Hi, I have a problem with the given - find method. I have an error "This variable is undefined" and i don't know why. Any ideas? My mathcad version is 14.

If I have a vector 'k', with say 10 values in it.  I can easily do a sum of all the value using the summation operator with 'k' the ONLY argument.   If I want the product of all those values, it seems I need more arguments other than just 'k'.   Can anyone advise what those arguments should be?

The simple exation with one variable needs numerical solving( with higher potential values compute time climbes a bit), enabled multithreading - not much of a cpu hog ~ 50%(on an i5 2500) - yet no result in prime 4.0 Punched the same quation into WolframAlpha, got an approximated result - due to limited compute time.   Searched though the help tool of the solve function, tried different parameters, still nothing. Am I blind or missing something -  please enlighten me.(used the thick equation symbol)Thank you for wasting time on helping me 😉  

Hi,   When I'm trying to graph F(theta) an error tells me that the value must be a scalar and by error tracing, I found that in the first part of the if statement, the same error pops up. If anyone could help me out here that would be great.   Thanks 

Does anyone have a copy of the pipe netowrk example  pipe_flow.mcdx   that they could share?   I have seen it referenced multiple times in various mathcad communities but have not found a download link.   It may have been related to a Hodge and Taylor white Paper.   Thanks Tim    

What I would ideally like is to have a variable or function set to a derivative operator, so Variable1*variable2 = derivative of variable2 with respect to some constant.   I would like this as I am dealing with equations of numerous constants and some derivatives go to 0. "Do this operator on every operand possible in this following equation" just makes it easier than figuring out which ones I need to do by hand.

What connects this three cities?

This is a thermal design project where we need to find the flow rates through multiple pipes. There are 25 flow rates I am looking for.   I'm not sure where the problem is. I have tried entering the variables in comma form (Q1, Q2, ...) and that produced an error as well.   I'm not very savvy with MathCAD so a descriptive answer would be appreciated.

Hello there, I have a function that I'm trying to calculate using various methods (in Mathcad). f(x) = 1/(1+x)^2 I've attached a photo of my code. The problem is, that for every x from -0.9 to 0.9 the calculations are great, but if i choose x>1 - it gets stuck on an infinite loop (sometimes it even says that it encountered a floating point error). If i try to do a graph of s[0] it also only shows results till x=0.99.  What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I'm currently trying to write a while loop that will loop and add 1 cm to (D.section1) until the loop is able to reduce the total Incident Energy to under 1.1 but currently I'm getting a statement saying "This function refers to itself inconsistently"

  Hello, When I use the include function I get a window, where I can point to a path/file. Then I get a big green exclamation mark. Is this function supposed to do something? I did hit F1 but that did not have much info there. I thought the entire worksheet would show up.    PS. It has a red border, because I altered the path, to comply with our company's procedures.

Hell to all,   I am working on a bigger Ship Propulsion problem.    I have got to one of those scenarios where it feels like I am missing an input in order to get the ultimate solution.    Can anyone tell me if it is possible (by substitution) or otherwise (in the attached capture) to get values for either Rt or T if I have values for Vs, Va, w and t?   using MC's Symbolics it suggests not but it must be possible?   Thanks,   Andy.

I want to replace function (F) with a more compact expression (F2). However, an error occurs.  

When i change the value of E in solve block it changes the value of both E and n , but when i change the value of n , nothing happens. Here n and E are two variables i need to find. Other values on left hand side need to be fixed. If you know any other method to solve, please let me know

Hi everyone, I've seen that this question has been asked before but not to Mathcad Prime 4.0. I've tried using the caracter map, insert the plus minus sign into a function but it does not recognize it as a function but a variable that you have to define. Some recommend to write some type of command so you can define the plus or minus character. Ok lets say that I obtain Plus and minus character from charactermap. What type of a function or equation should I define it on as to it gives me a asort of "multiplier" perhaps to any number I applied it on so it would give me the function of a plus or minus sign. I can not think of anything. I tried using matrices but I can not find such operator. Appreciate your advise. Thanks.

when i am using r=1 , it works good ( value of Vs) but i want to calculate for the range of values from 1 to 10. I already tried using in matrix form and semi colon form but still it is giving me error. Please help somebody

Can anyone recognize which software do these pressure diagram charts are made from? Can Mathcad do anything of this nature? Thanks
