Mathcad

I would like to solve this problem https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad-Questions/Chebyshev-step-macine-optimization/m-p/500155 not with the Minimize function but with the MinErr function. But do not know how. Help me please! The Mathcad 15 and Prime 4 files are in attach.

Does anyone know if there is a an equivalent mcad function to the filter() function in MathLab? Don’t think there is . See picture in attached file attached   I am looking at the standard SRS calculation but the recursive loop is not producing what is expected.

Using symbolics (4.0) to develop an algebraic solution - but I get more than I bargained for.     I can't seem to find an assume or other feature to simplify this.  I'm assuming I need to specify real solutions or similar but that doesn't seem to work.  What I'm expecting to see is: PR=  Any ideas?   Thanks,

I created an if function for one of my equations and when I plug in the equal value as a solution, it does not recognize it as a correct value even though the inequality symbol shows that it has to be.

I am trying to code ASCE7-10 table 27.6-2 to find my wind pressure of my roof but it is based on different parameters like the slope and the height and the wind speed.     Is there a way I can interpolate a table instead of having to do a bunch of matrices and interpolate each individually to find the pressure?  The image below is what i am trying to avoid, doing a bunch of matrices to then get the final answer. 

Hi. I am trying to determine the width that a 1.1um object would appear when imaged through a microscope and detected onto a camera.    This involves the convolution of 3 functions - the psf which quantifies the optics performance, the bead object itself - modelled as a top hat, and the detector pixel response again modelled as a top hat.   I cant understand why the artefact appears when I have a span of 100 but doesn't when the span is 80.   Also I perform the fwhm calc (via gaussian fit) on the pixellated image.  How would I more accurately perform it on the high resolution image and express the result in um.

Hello!I am used to MathCAD Prime but I am currently using MathCAD 15 for the weekend due to my computer being packed up for a move.I use a lot of text regions with inserted math regions to describe my work, for example if I wanted to type out a base formula that I do not need to calculate, but only need it to express the validity of a following equation I might type something like the following:   {If [A(x)] = [B(x)] for [x]=[0], then [D(s)]=[C(s)]}   [C(s):=s^2+4] [D(s):=C(s)]   Where {Curved brackets indicate opening a text region} and [Straight ones indicate a math region inside the text region].   Is there an easy way to do this on MathCAD 15? I only know how to start a text region but not how to start a math region inside the text box.   If there's any other easy way to use an equals sign without calculating or assigning any of the variables that would also meet my needs.   Thanks in advance!  

   

Dear all,   I need to solve a system of non linear equation. I have a problem with mu(theta) function: if I use this function in given-find system, mathcad not find solution, but if I set a constant value the system is solved.    How can I set the mu function, into the given-find solution to obtain the correct solution?   Best regards Stefano

Hi All,   In the attached (MCP3) I am trying to define a matrix based on an existing one.    I have a series of matrixes with different index values. When I split each column to a single matrix this works but when I try to do the same for an element of a wider matrix it seems to not work. Is there a way of doing this with a snazzy programme or similar?   Andy

Hello, What is the best way to handle units in a curve fitting equation situation. On line 4 if I leave the ksi in then line 6 does not work, I had to create a unitless line 5 to get line 6 to work. Also I had to text in the word "cycles"  because MC does not take cycles unit in lines 6 & 8.   

I have a worksheet in which I am using the excel component to build an output table.  It appears that there is a limit to how much you can put into an excel component, because, when I reach a point in building the table, when I add one more element I get the error message "this expression is too large to be calculated".  The error occurs even on expressions that are constants.  In a couple of cases, the files have somehow become corrupted and crash within second of opening them. Does anyone have any insights? Thanks, John W

Hi all, I have several column vectors that I need them to be merged into a one big column vector. The problem is that as they have several dimensions, Mathcad add zeros to match their dimension before merging them. The zeros make errors in calculations. I wonder how I can avoid these zeros? Many thanks.

I am having an issue with finding the max value of positive and negative values.  I want it to always pick the highest integer but to have it's sign remain the same.     For instance, x=10, y=15, z=-20 are my numbers calculated that    t:=550*[max(x,y,z)] -p is depended on.    if I do r:= max(x,y,z) it will state that r=15 when I need it to pick the worse case for an equation it will be integrated in later on.    if I do r:= max(IxI,IyI,IzI) it will state r=20 but not -20 cause of the absolute value.   Is there a different approach I can do where I wouldn't have to use solve for t for each single case and pick the max absolute value of all three?

Hello To All,   A few of you were really helpful in pinning down my indexing problem. In the attached is part of what I have been working on in the background. Please do not get too hung up on what the overall picture is or anything until the end of the sheet, you will see that I have created a couple of tables toward the end of values and have integrated between two sets of values (column 1 of each table with matrix Z(I) to get some areas and then have integrated these areas to get a volume. I now want to do this in terms of j I.e. get 5 volumes to account for each column of the tables. Any ideas where I am going wrong?   Thanks,   Andy.

It’s been a while since anyone has asked, and the answers were a bit generic. In principle, yes it shouldn’t be limited by 32-bit, or perhaps limited to memory heap...However, I have found a much smaller limit. I read in scope data, 20,000 points of 8-bit data, padded to 64-bits most likely, so is at most 160 kB. Doesn’t sound too daunting. In fact I can read it in, several columns in fact, manipulate it, plot it all, no problem.However I cannot evaluate it as an array. Wasn’t really trying. But kept getting errors when I tried including this worksheet into a report style of worksheet... 20,000 points barfs on the include. Then I notice that I can’t even display the array as a table. Really? I have to find a file transfer workaround? It’s a lot of data files... or try to embed EVERYTHING within the report??

Hello everyone,   Lets say I have: x=2 and y=5   I want to create a new variable that is going to be equal to the variable with the highest value, per say...   z=max(x,y)   and in return get 'y' not 5 but if I change the 'x' and 'y' values I want it to return whichever variable has the highest value.   PS Im new at this, maybe I am missing a simple rule of programming, not sure...

I have two questions to one Chebyshev (Tchebyshev - Чебышёв) linkage (see more https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chebyshev_linkage) 1. Do you know how to change lengths of links in to get one (strictly) straight line of motion for point 4 or other curve? See please first animation and files in attach - Mathcad 15.
