Hello,We are experiencing unexpected behavior with Arbortext Editor 7.1 regarding the encoding of SGML files.Issue description:1. We open an existing SGML file in Arbortext Editor.2. The file encoding is ANSI Windows-1252 (verified using Notepad++).3. After opening the file in Arbortext Editor and saving it (even without any content changes), the file encoding is automatically changed.4. The saved file is now encoded in UTF-8 (verified using Notepad++).Question:Is there a parameter or configuration setting in Arbortext Editor 7.1 that defines the default encoding used when saving SGML files? Our expectation is that the original encoding (Windows-1252) should be preserved when saving an existing file, unless an explicit conversion to UTF-8 is requested. We have reviewed the Arbortext preferences but could not find any setting that controls the default encoding used during file saving.Could you please advise on:- whether there is a preference or configuration parameter to control the save

We have been trying to see if we could integrate PE with our existing TomEE install that’s already running SSL - It seems to be configured correctly, all the properties listed in the e3 admin page (aside from tomcat.version which is set to our standalone Tomcat we were using for PE). The PE configuration dialog still lists the old Tomcat, but startup is attached to the TomEE services and everything appears to start up correctly, but I cannot get the Arbortext Editor clients to connect with the TomEE PE server URL.Anyone had any luck getting the integration to work without dedicating a standalone Tomcat that installs to the default install tree?
Hi,We have a requirement to add change markers in page margins. These can be symbols in a particular font that is the same size as the text in the page, or it can be an image icon which can be larger than the text. There can also be more than one change marker (maximum 2, hopefully) side-by side.I don’t think there’s a way to do this directly in Styler (version 8.3.1), but I’m hoping someone might know how to use an APP over-ride to add the change markers next to the text they apply to, as well as adjust their vertical and horizontal positioning. Thanks for any ideas!Richard
For specific sections of my document, I need to text to appear to the left of an external list for certain list items. I have created a variablelist, but it doesn’t appear to be working. I have used Arbortext for many years, but this is my first attempt without a pre-existing styler / dita structure. A styler was applied to the document, but I am just learning how it works.
So the problem is - when we try to author documents in PTC Arbortext and use the PTC Illustrate .pvz files for the graphics - the publishing engine doesn’t publish the original .pvz content when creating a .pdf. it downconverts all the graphics to raster images rather than keeping the vector line art and 3D Steps ect. As for validating this problem:We did various testing to try to get the Arbortext docs to publish to PDF without converting the PVZ images to Raster. The only thing we were successfully able to do was find was an option to output the images to a higher resolution raster during the conversion. But we need the pdf to retain the vector line art and text from the .pvz graphics and or utilize the full 3D .pvz functionality. Basically to verify that the .pvz file creation from PTC Illustrate was not somehow rasterized before we added to Arbortext - we opened in various other programs to prove the .pvz files opened with all the animated Steps and vector illustrations. ( We
Does anyone know if there will be a webinar for the release of Arbortext 8.3.3, as was done for past releases? The files have been made available, but I haven’t seen an announcement on the community page, and I have some questions I would like to ask regarding functionality.

I am trying to publish TM that is around 8000 page. We can publish each chapter separately but when we combined into whole TM, we get this error . Hello,How to display or hide processing instructions in the Arbortext Editor ?David GOPOIS
Our style sheet was modified with a custom element for our covers. The custom element supports one image element. Where do I change it so It can accept two images, as I would like to profile them. Thanks Bryon
I am trying to convert the Insert and Delete Pub Tags that are used by Arbortext to indicate differences, into elements that are part of our DTD. It would be convenient if I could either tell Arbortext to use our elements for the Diffs, OR even if I could use elements instead of the Pub tags. The actual tagging looks like this in notepad:<?Pub Tag Delete?>texte<?Pub /Delete?>I am find it hard to find and transform these to real elements. Also, in the Arbortext help I see this line:" Compare tab provides a choice between either wrapper tags or PIs (processing instructions named Insert and Delete) to mark the differences in content as insertions and deletions. " However, I dont see anything like that on the screen. Where can I make this "choice"?
Hello, I am trying to learn Arbortext Editor, and I am trying to follow the "Get Started with Arbortext Editor" playlist. My company uses an older version (5.4), and I can't find the Arbortext XML DocBook V4.0 sample. I go to File > New and "docbook" isnt there. I can check "sample" when I highlight "free-from XML", but that file isnt the same as the one in the tutorial. I have scoured my computer files, and I have opened every .sgm file, and I can't find it. Is there any way to get this file, or am I out of luck?
I am using Arbortext to create the manuals for the items we produce. We currently have four major brands we use, each with it's own brand color (blue/gray/green/red) background. Is there a way in the stylesheet to use a certain element in the bookmap to select the background color.I was thinking maybe a variable or something along that line, Has anyone developed a stylesheet that will produce multiple outputs, with different background colors, depending on the brand of the material?
When I try to have the stylesheet auto number the figure and tables, everything works fine....EXCEPT....the generated table number text is putting an additional period after the Table X.X (See Published Output image below). Looking into the generated text for Title in Table element (see below), it shows 1.1 as generated text for the PDF output. Looking further into the Number Details, it shows that it should only be producing Table X.X for a table title. (see below) But yet, somehow it is producing Table X.X. Where is this extra period coming from? Anyone have any idea? Thanks,John
Hello, I've got multiple users who get pushed the Java installs to their local devices JRE 8 ver 481 and everytime there's a push install the software fails to run which prompts with a error listed in the screenshot below. The only way i've been able to resolve is to do a complete uninstall and reinstall. The environment variables have been set but something with the Java install is overriding and I'm not sure what else to define in order to get the software back up and running. If there's a permanent solution for future Java updates that won't break the environment I'm curious as to how to configure that for Windows 11 device. Thanks so much!

Software: Arbortext Editor 5.4 M080 Hello everyone, My colleague's computer crashed when Arbortext Editor was running, and ever since the error A12480 has been thrown whenever trying to open the application. The application has been reinstalled, repaired and the computer has been fully reset and the application has been re-installed after, but still the error message is thrown. The user uses the same concurrent license server as other users are using, but they experience no issues at all. Thanks in advance for any advice what may be the culprit.
Software: Arbortext Editor 5.4 M080 Hello I'm receiving the error as defined in the subject field a couple of times each month. Has anyone had the same issue and if so, how did you resolve it? I am currently unable to upgrade to newer version, so hopefully it's possible to resolve without having to do so.
Hello,We have some problems trying to convert .cgm files to .emf format with Isodraw v7.1 M090Actually we work with a floating license from different computers. The problem ocurs when we export the same input file from two different computers:-The result from one of them is correct-The result from the other computer is not correct because it adds some blank space on the right side and also on the lower side.We assume that there is some kind of different configuration in both computers but we cannot locate it after many searches...Is there any configuration parameter that we can review so all our computers get the same result? or is it possible to send you an image so you can see the the difference?Thank you for your help.
I am using ALD v12.3.0 and trying to export png of an frame contains an image and its caption. I have tried various settings and the text in the png seems in good quality but the image (pdf/tiff) is not in good quality. It looks like a screen view. How can I fix it?
I am trying to put in foldout pages in owners manuals. However, I cannot for the life of me get the stylesheet/publishing engine to create the landscape page. I have created a Foldout Page set to 8.5 x 11 landscape in Page Sets.I created a context and condition in the <topicref> element. The condition is "IF attribute "outputclass" = "wide"The output to edit is set to Print/PDF, and the breaks category is set as follows:Start new: PagePage set Name: Foldout Page SetPage Number: Continue When I save the stylesheet and republish, the page is still not landscape. GRRR On a side note, I am publishing locally with the Use Publishing Engine box unchecked in the Tools>Preferences>Publishing Engine. Any ideas what I may be missing. Thanks in advance.John
I installed Arbortext Styler 8.3 on Windows 11 and the application launches correctly. However, when I double-click an XML file from Windows Explorer, Arbortext Editor opens automatically and the file fails to open due to a licensing issue. How can I configure Windows so that XML files open directly with Arbortext Styler when double-clicked in Windows Explorer?
