My Windchill system is ignoring client-side published files.PVZ files get attached from a client-side check in (models and viewables) with a Categroy=Viewable, but the WVS service ignores them at time of publish. A server-side publish takes place ignoring the primary attached PVZ      

So I got my Office doc worker running and I love it. Produces PDF representations of Office files and neat thumbnails. Yes, eye candy but it provides a seamless user experience so people know, see an image, you can click and view it in Creo View. This aligns the system to be the same for Creo data and ECAD. My only hold out is WTDocs where primary content is a PDF.   I came across this article (How to automatically generate representation for the pre-converted files... ) which gets me one step closer since it allows PDF files to be treated like preconverted data. Hello Everyone, I am working on a project and I  need some parts to be added to a folder. I have an assembly which has multiple parts associated with it. I want to add all of them in the New Project folder. But I want to simply copy them and not MOVE them. SO basically I need to select all objects and create a copy in Windchill. I'm having a lot of issues trying to create a bat file for silent installation of WGM 12.1.2.0. Below is the basic file I have been trying. When I have the -destination at the end, the setup program launches, but interactively. When I remove it, sometimes the installation proceeds, but it only installs the XML files and not WGM as a whole. I have also tried the -xmlall command to no avail. Hello, is there any good practice how to create simulation copy/version of model using windchill? Now I'm doing it by copying all the parts. So it creates independent model which i don't like. Is there any way how to connect/ create a simulation version of the model using windchill?    

I am getting this error when i am trying to check in an assembly. It is not a new assembly though.  Error Message : " Action cannot be completed as it cannot build association with Part that you do not have access to.You must gain access to the Part or the Part must be deleted from the database."  I do have access for the folder locations. But it seems something else is missing. Can you help to resolve this.     

Hi all, My company recently started using Windchill. Whenever I export a PDF, the PDF created gets its own part number. However, I would like to have the PDF exported as an attachment to the part referenced in the drawing. Alternatively, I would like to have the PDF exported to an attachment to a WTPart. Is there any way to do this? Please let me know! Thank you in advance for your help!  Thank you,Jeff 

After doing the upgrade to Windchill, now running 12.0.2.8, I am trying to follow the steps outlined in this CS article on running Windchill as a service. Article - CS17799 - How to run Apache, Tomcat, Windchill Directory Server and Windchill as Microsoft Windows service in Windchill (ptc.com) The build says it is successful but does issue warnings when running.  PTC tech support sent me this CS article: Article - CS357485 - After executing ant -f bin/gwt.xml command on Windchill shell throws warnings WARNING: An illegal reflective access operation has occurred in Windchill PDMLink (ptc.com) However, When I go to start the service, it gives an error and will not start. I can start Windchill manually from a command prompt, but that does no good if IT does a server reboot overnight and I have to manually restart Windchill. Has anyone else had this issue with Windchill12.0? I did not have any issues with all prior versions of Windchill (7, 9. 9.1, 10, 11, 11.1) that I have installed.

As a follow up to my posting earlier, Post upgrade - Create Substitute action missing for user , I am questioning why this was necessary at all. Did PTC err in how this works? Here is my reasoning.   When creating a substitute link, you need to have check out rights to the assembly part. This is a 3 way link between the assembly part, the component and the replacement part. In my case, the components are library parts where the users have read only rights. To add a library component to an assembly BOM, you do not need modify rights to the component, only read rights. It follows that those users should be guests in that library which is what I have configured. Those same users are members of the context where the assembly part lives.     Now, the issue was the default rights for guests in a library does not allow you to create anything. This includes substitute links from what I can tell. I had to add an ACL for guests to allow creation and modification. Th

Summary:I am following the PTC support article to setup a Generic CAD Worker to create a pdf viewable using accoreconsole.exe (AutoCAD) of an AutoCAD .dwg file that exists as a CAD Document in Windchill. I followed all setup steps and am able to see my worker on-line. When I attempt to start the worker and publish a job (step 10) nothing is published. I don't think this is an issue with the AutoCAD portion (which PTC mentions they will not support). I think this is an issue with my Generic worker setup. Observations:When I start the worker from the Worker Agent Administration, I get a worker log that appears to show a successful start. (worker log at start log attached)I see successful communication messages in the cadagent log on the windchill server for this worker. How can I re-assign a task in a workflow for Approve/Deny to a specific role, lets say CA1 role, instead of a specific user?  

Hi,I believe views of WTPart, "Design" for example, are mandatory information for consistent data in Windchill, but one collegue explained he show some installations that do not use those view. Until now, I though a part without view would be "corrupted data", imported thanks a spreadsheet.  Are the view "Design/Manufacturing/etc." simply a recommanded practice of PTC ? What would be the drawback of configuring per default no view on the WTPart (when no MPMLink is used)? I really interesseted in your opinions!

Hello,   I have a WTpart attribute which stores the corresponding ERP number ERP_number. I would like to show this attribute on the EPM document info page for information only. So I created an alias attribute on the EPM document with the following mapping:   reference^wt.part.WTPart~ERP_number Unfortunatly, this isn't working. Is the mapping correct?   When I set the attribute on the WTpart, the EPM document is potentially not checked out. I could map the WTpart attribute to the EPM document master and map this again to the EPM document. Seems to me a bit overdone for such a simple requirement...is this the way to go?   Thanks a lot for any hints on how to solve this.   Best Chris

I am using Windchill PDMLink Release 10.2Group has been created in Windchill for mfg team and rules have been set to restrict access/view for "Obsolete" state Cad data, file.functionality is not working and user defined group (mfg/Sales) are able to view previous "released " state files . while they should not have access to complete data once obsoleted.

I am having issues in deleting Saved filters in Workspace. I am getting error "Not able to delete as it is not owned by you". I have admin privileges, even then I am receiving same error.  Hence, how can we delete Saved filters in "Add to Workspace" option.  

 Where is the location of the file that contains the information for the settings listed in Preference Management in Windchill PDM link 11.1? I created a new user in Creo Parametric 7.0.6.0 and my new user preferences in Preference Management are only show default settings.  I would like to import my settings from my other user Preference Management settings into this new user account.  Is there a way to import these settings from my old user account into my new user account?Perhaps I am not asking the right question with a location, how does one go about exporting the Preference Management settings and importing them for an individual user?

Can we make use of "CreateChangeRequestFormProcessor" which I assume to be OOTB to trigger a workflow? I have an action that has no .jsp but this FormProcessor in the custom-actions. When the action is clicked, the change request UI shows up as wells a workflow is initiated. I'm just curious how.

Hi All, Like every Engineering Change Notice/Order.  The from/to table is very close to the affected and resulting table.  Some companies like to set state/transition the affected table of objects to obsolete based on disposition and effectivity.  Also, there are business rules where you can only put released items in the affect table of an CN. While the new or new revisions of objects get production released and applied also based on effectivity, the affected table of objects can remain released or get set to obsolete/supersede based on the disposition.  This is the closed-loop process of a change request to a change notice.  The resolution of a change request is both the obsolescence of the affected table and release of the resulting table in the change activity/notice.    This should be out-of-the box functionality.  It seems that the functionality is not complete and needs customization to complete the simple very common process.

I saw this briefly in my rehearsals but it seemed to go away on its own. Not sure where to look for the issue. Normally, in our old system, when you browse a classification and then get directed to the search results, the attributes of that node display in the search results at the far right. I know I saw it during the upgrade that it stopped at the classification path but somehow, when I checked later, it resolved itself. Not sure I did anything to fix it.  Facets work find and I am able to use them to filter further but I am not sure why it would not show the attributes. I am using the "Default Part View" I do not believe there were edits to it. This is version 12.0 and we upgraded from 11.1.
