Writing code has always been something that David Graham has enjoyed. Coming from a Mechanical Engineering background, this developer consultant has always had an interest in figuring out what a customer wants and how to get there, thus specializing as a Windchill Expert to make it happen. “All this code writing is just solving a puzzle,” said David. “There’s a lot of interesting problems to be solved.” David Graham is currently retired but worked for PTC from 1994 to 2001. As an active member of the PTC Windchill Community, David takes the time to network with other developers and will post solutions to roadblocks others may have. You may have read some of his posts on Windchill workflows. Beyond the PTC Community, David consults on Windchill with clients. When writing code, he might take an out of the box workflow in Windchill and assist a company looking to automate by customizing it to fit their needs. When it’s done, it likely does not resemble the
Hello all, hope you are well. This is the scenario: I have a Product template with a folder structure created. Also I have a workflow where in some task the user has to save a document in a predetermined folder. Right now what I did is to put the location in the Instructions task: something like this: You have to create a document in the folder Product name>Folder1> Folder 1.1 > Folder 1.1.1 .... But I would be nice that the user just have to click that location and another tap open in the right folder. Someone knows if is possible inserting a variable? Thanks in advance for reading this post or writing any idea. Luis
Hi all,I have a requirement of driver and dependent attributes which is based on selection of one value from combobox other attribute values should get populated. I'm referring to this solution https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS64401.So I have created a data utilities class which is mapped to my driver attribute. And from that I can able to call my javascript function which I have added in jsp page. And that onchange validation also working fine. But my javascript function is not changing the value of other attribute. Here is my javascript function.<script type="text/javascript"> function customChangefunction(){ var target = window.document.getElementsByName("resultCombo"); var src = window.document.getElementById("sampleCombo"); var strUser = src.options[src.selectedIndex].value; alert(strUser); var colours = new Array('Black', 'White', 'Blue'); var shapes = new Array('Square', 'Circle', 'Triangle'); var names = new Array('John', 'David', 'Sarah'); switch
I'm using Creo 5 with Windchill 11 and when I open Creo, type in my Windchill username/password, I always have to navigate to "Server Management", right-click on the server and un-check the "work offline" box. Does anyone know how to have Windchill automatically start online when it opens? I've talked with other folks in the office and theirs automatically starts online and they never need to go to server management and un-check that "work offline" box. We are all using/connecting to the same server. I understand it's not a long process to go to Server Management and just un-check that box but was curious as to why I need to and theirs is online by default. Thanks in advance!
Hi folks, anybody run into problems with NX fonts? I have zero experience with NX. Apparently our NX worker is publishing NX most of the time. The font seems to be correct, but the width is off. Thanks!
Hi all, we recently implemented the Afterloader as per CS216668 following option 2, its working as expected and copying our additional pdf files to the secondary content of the Drawing. We left the files types as "pdf stp igs dwg" So midway through the day I start getting calls from people telling me that their step files manually attached as secondary content to an EPMDocument were being deleted after checkin. We have a process whereby we create step files in Creo and save it directly to the EPMDocument, we save them with the naming convention <partnumber>_<version> (we dont publish step files as we often need to select different co-ordinate systems to export) So it looks like the AfterLoader code is deleting any secondary content which contains the same string of characters in the name as the EPMDocument, for example I have a CAD Part called 1234567.prt and it has secondary content, manually attached, called 1234567_V1.stp, after check in that step file attachment is gone
Hi, I changed the language from German to English, but the attributes remained unchanged Thank you!
I am trying to install Windchill 11.0 m030 CPS08 on a Windows Server 2016 machine with Oracle 12cR1. This for a rehost from a Windows Server 2012 machine in preparation for a Windchill 11.1 M020 upgrade. I got around an error running the PSI, but I cannot get around this Oracle User Home Password issue. I found a solution from 10.2 and tried that, but it did not help. Any suggestions?
Hi, is anyone using Amazon AppStream or CITRIX to share secure Creo connections to Windchill? I am interested in bringing 3rd party partners into Windchill to work on CAD data, but I don't want them downloading the CAD files to their own computer. Not sure if Creo Cloud still has legs with PTC, but the PTC training team is using Amazon AppStream to provide configured sessions of Creo for students. Curious if anyone is using a similar configuration to provide CAD access to external team members.
I'd like to hear what the community has to say about this topic.Much of the PTC server administration documentation for Windchill center around Windows Server. The majority support tickets focus on Windows Servers as well. It's my understanding that Java (jvm) is designed with linux as a first class citizen. I'm inclined to believe any linux distro would be better than windows servers for hosting the windchill app box. Can you provide me with any anecdotes or evidence to support either operating system?
Has anyone ever been able to print out the web page of a change notice? I don't want a to create a report. I have some users that wants to print out one of our custom tabs. It has some tables from all the other out of the box tabs on one page and we want to print that out. I even asked one of our IT people if they have a program that will print out the whole web page and he said he did not have one or even knew of one.
Hi all, Is it possible to have the thumbnails show only part of the model space (not at zoom extents?) We use these thumbnails a lot and it would be amazing if we could figure out how to have better thumbnails.
Hi all, i am desperately trying to get the items contained in a promotion request via REST api. What I have as input is the ID of the promotion request, for example OR:wt.maturity.PromotionNotice:124606188 It seems one should use /Windchill/servlet/odata/NavCriteria/NavigationCriterias , but I am struggling about how to get this with EPMDocPromotionNoticeConfigSpec and WTPartPromotionNoticeConfigSpec and wondering how to get documents / all items contained in a promotion request... Are there any examples / hints about how to construct the url to get closer to the items comprised in a promotion request? Best Regards

Hello all, I am running Creo 5.0.4.0 with Windchill 11.1 on a Windows 10.1 machine. The computer is brand new, 2 weeks old. If this is not the correct subforum for this type of issue, please inform me. I have an issue where the embedded Windchill browser in Creo shows two panes at once, and the result is that none of the functions of Windchill (and by extension, Creo) are unusable (see the attached image). I am unable to open any files through Windchill. Moving the cursor across the Creo window causes the panes to flicker. So far, I have: * changed my Creo browser from ie11 to chromium, and back * restarted my computer * cleared Creo cache folders * launched Creo without any config files in my working directory (config.pro, activedrawing.dtl, etc.) * uninstalled Creo 5 and deleted cache items, then completed a fresh install of Creo My previous computer was running Creo 5.0.4.0 on Windows 7. I did not have this issue until I upgraded to this machine. I have submitte
Hello, I am trying to figure out how to incorporate a FTA into a safety analysis I am making in a separated .doc file. I do not want to make it using screenshots or similar because I need the text within the tree to be searcheable once the analysis is saved in pdf. format. What I have done so far is to print the tree to file .doc. The printing is ok but I am not able to copy the figures into other .doc file, they are pasted as an unreable mix of boxes and lines. See attachments. Any idea? I would appreciate a lot some help. Thanks!!
Does anyone have any insight or ideas on having a Windchill Part BOM Markup for Revisions? I am aware of doing a compare Part structure but this is only after the work is complete. Ideally this could be available on the change task. Any ideas that could be done for this with Windchill Rest Services potentially? Looking for anyone's current processes that are server/ data driven, not a excel file as that is what we are trying to get away from. Currently we are using Windchill 11. M020

For viewing ODATA Swagger UI in 11.0 M030 CPS18 you can use the Customiztion Odata Rest API link which navigates to URL https://<server>/Windchill/netmarkets/html/wrs/doc.html However the link below shows: Any suggestions on what is missing in the configuration to correctly open it?
Hallo, does Thingworx 9.1 and Navigate supports Windchill Version: 11.1 M020-CPS04? BR Vladimir
OK, Can someone please point me in the direction, or steps, or wherever i need to go, in order to get the display in Windchill, (commonspace, and workspace) to display a model parameter in the columns. currently it shows number, name, version, state, file name. "Name" is the ptc_common_nameI know how to create custom columns, and change the columns, and organize all of that. I however, want to replace the "Name" columm, with a "description" column. The description is located in the model parameters under "DESCRIPTION" The reason i dont want to use NAME (ptc_common_name) is because our BOM reports are pulling descriptions from the model parameters, and if that particular parameter isnt filled in, it shows blank in the BOM report. (maybe there is a way to have the bom report pull ptc_common_name and it would be easier)
From my testing, there are some preferences here at play, namely "Publish only Incremental Changes for a Modified Assembly when Publishing a BOM". I had this set to "No" and the result was that the BOMHeader was always listed as "AddedBOMs" section and components where in the "AddedBOMComponents" section. Fine, at least I get the whole thing. But when I iterate a BOM I already published previously on the previous version, the next version still shows as "AddedBOMs". Even when I check out and in, iterating the Part, same result. I thought it would shift to "ChangedBOMs" section. I flipped "Publish only Incremental Changes for a Modified Assembly when Publishing a BOM" to "Yes" and it now shows the BOMHeader as "UnchangedBOMs" and I see the components in their respective sections for "ChangedBOMComponents" and "UnchangedBOMComponents" which I would expect. It gets me thinking, when would a BOMHeader ever change in this situation? I would have thought if anything
Hi all. I am using the AssemblyAdd to create a CSV file to load BOM. It is working great, but I need to define both Parent and Child View to be able to have either a Design -> MFG or MFG -> Design parent-child relationship. The way this is mapped I can only define the assemblyPartView, which will always try to match the Child View name. Is it possible?
