Windchill

Dear All, I have been working on generating a few reports using Windchill OOTB from a few days where I am struggling to get exactly what I want. So if everybody who have already generated reports could provide information regarding for what business objects reports cannot be generated it would be helpful for me and others to filter out which reports can be generated and which cannot. For example, a report to show the user participant groups is not possible since user participant group information is not stored in the database but is stored in WinDS. In the same way if anybody\everybody could share information it would be of great help.

After some searching, I found a bit code on here that within gets a PDF out of a default representation of an EPMDocument using this code: wt.representation.Representation defaultRep=wt.representation.RepresentationHelper.service.getDefaultRepresentation(myDoc); That's all well and good.  Is there a similar expression that allows me to pick and choose which representation I want?  Specifically, I'm interested in getting secondary content (which the rest of the code does) of the representation created by the promotion notice (so it's name is wt.maturity.promotionNotice:some number here).  Is there a wt.representation.Representation rep=wt.representation.RepresentationHelper.service.getPromotionNoticeRepresentation? I've looked through the Java Doc (we're on 10.2 M030) and I can't even find any reference of the RepresentationHelper. The wt.maturity class doesn't hint at there being anything to do with representations....    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello from my understanding in Options & Variants you can define expressions which are based on options e.g. color=red, blue is the option and choices color = read AND ... is the expression..... Now I am looking for the possibility to refer in an expression to an attribute from the part object and to refer the attribute of the classification of a part. Is this feasible? Any ideas about solutions, workarounds ...? Thanks in advance

Here is a simple test if someone can confirm this. Create a note object. Number it "NOTE1". Rename it and change the note to "NOTE2". Go back and try to create a new note numbered "NOTE1". Reply back if you get a uniqueness error on creating the second note. Search for "NOTE1". You should find nothing. What I noticed is that since notes are EPMDocuments but do not have a filename (aka CADNAME), they are created with a CADNAME that matches the number.  Rename actions to change the number do not have a filename field hence CADNAME cannot be change. CADNAME must be unique so that is why you get the error.  Reported bug to PTC.  Tested this on 10.1.

My company currently has a simple numbering system for each new product/project. This currently has to be maintained outside Windchill. My question is can Windchill automate this process or is there a work around?

This process seems simple enough, but in Windchill it’s a nightmare. Here are the problems I get:-I try to keep the instances out of my workspace for performance reasons. When I export from workspace, Windchill brings in every instance. My workspace goes from 2000 objects to 8000 objects. I have a custom view, that allows me to delete them faster, but this is time I don’t have.-Import to workspace doesn’t work. It doesn’t recognize that the family table parts of the same name are in fact, the same parts.-Importing deletes everything from session. It seems that the Pro/E core must be used to determine parent-child relationships.-Some of the assemblies have hundreds or thousands of parts. This process is very slow. I have had this process take a week and as many as 23 premature exits in one day.-If someone at my company renames the generic of a family table, I get incurable name conflicts and premature exits.-If someone at my company creates one of the parts with the same name, I can’t r

I am trying to figure out how to create a new workflow, including all steps needed to make it appear as a selectable choice from the Actions menu. I am not tryign to do anything fancy since I have never done this before - just tryign to start with something simple. Here is what I am trying to do, specifically: 1. Save a copy of the OOTB Problem Report Template (I did this) 2. Alter the OOTB Change Admin I role to one of our own internal roles (I did this) 3. Start using this new version of the Workflow (this is where I am stuck)   Basically, though I have created a new template, let's call it "Problem Report Template 2," I have no understanding of how to launch it throughout Windchill.  - It does not show up as a Problem Report in the Type and Attribute List.  - I don't see Problem Report Template 2 anywhere else in Windchill other than the Workflow Template Admin screen  - Do I need to restart Windchill or something??   I have searched many pages of docum

I have a requirement to combine two attributes from CAD Documents (owner link) into one attribute in a WTpart. Currently we pull a number of parameters from Creo into Windchill. Our parameter setup is 2 descriptions (description 1 and description 2), that become attribute description 1 and description 2 in Windchill. Is there anyway to combine the two when looking at the WTPart....have both attributes display as one (description 1 + description 2 = description)? I know this can be done in Creo with a relation....but that doesn't fix the 100,000 + objects already created. I logged a case with PTC....but the "Expert" was struggling finding how the attributes are passed from the cad doc to the WTPart, so I closed the case.

In the organisation context we have 568 products, for which Product level OIRs have been such that Numbers are auto generated for WTPart (it has final = "false" for Numbering). But now the requirement is such that for all products the numbering should be manual. I created an OIR at Org level with final = "true" value and set auto numbering off, but still numbering is auto generated only. Is there some way to override the product level OIR at Org/Site level so that we can have manual numbering, as going manually and changing OIRs for all products is a tedious job.

I saw below request (updating username and password of users in bulk) created 5 years ago but seems PTC still hasn't planned to implement it yet. I wonder if anyone here has done something similar in Windchill 10 or 11 and how did you do it? Actually I don't need to update username and password, but I would like to update tons of users to a different organization at once instead of manually changing each user's organization in Participant Administration UI. Hi, A user has replaced a part in creo assembly after checking out. He saves the assembly and checks it in. The changed part is shown in the assembly. But, when the BOM for the WTPart still shows the old part.  We tried the top down approach (replaced the part in BOM), but Windchill does not allow us to check-in the assembly telling that we must do it only via the CAD.  Does anyone, how can we solve this issue?   Regards, Gautham

Customer created varitant specification from one configurable bom then execute Request Deliverables to create new variant. Hi,   I created a Windchill 11.0 M030 CPS10 lab as a part of upgrading our current Windchill 10.2 production environment. I'm also willing to move from current monolithic setup to cluster. Following is the brief configuration details. Upgrading from Windchill 10.1 M050 to Windchill 11 M030. This task is failing when trying to configure JNDI enterprise adapter.   The nested exception, AuthentiationException is given below. How can I verify/specify the userid/password to the UpgradeManager? I have a user who was recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. Before the switch, when he went to print a drawing, he had a default printer set for it to print to. Now, he has to scroll through all of the printers that he has connected to his computer. Is there any way that he can set a default printer to pop up whenever he goes to print? Hi,   I need help understanding how PTC HTTP Server responds to user requests on different scenario to configure my F5 BIG IP Load Balancer. I'll explain first what I have.   I created a lab with following configuration to test Windchill application clustering. We've now done > 10,000 changes electronically using Windchill Change Requests / Notices / Tasks. In parallel, we've been creating full product Structure for all new and changed Parts/Assy's (DESIGN View only so far). Some 50,000 Parts exist, with 800,000 where-used relationships.Changes to drawing dimensions, notes, text in Word documents, etc. are handled by marking up a representation stored in Windchill, which is duly approved, then executed.But - For BOM changes we still print and mark up a BOM from the ERP system, then attach that to the Windchill change request. Windchill product structure is modified to match. We then run a comparison of the updated ERP BOM toWindchill product structure (via sophisticated Excel macros) as a check.We're hoping to evolve to defining BOM changes in Windchill by somehow marking / annotating / making a draft of Product Structure, and having that approved and then executed during the change process. I have created a multi step wizard with jca.  Whenever the wizard is completed, the processor is called successfully and the code is executed, but the wizard returns to the first step, instead of closing the popup window.
