Hi, everyone. I thought Creo 9 supported semantic references when exporting to STEP AP242 format, but when trying it myself I couldn't get it to work. When I finally looked at the video in the "What's New" documentation and tried to replicate it, I got it to work, and I suddenly realized that the text was carefully written to only mention "notes" (though the title was "Improved STEP AP242 Support for References Included in Annotations"). So just to check that I'm not missing anything, for people who have more insight into this than I have: Creo 9 only supports semantic references in STEP export for note annotations, and not for dimensions, geometrical tolerances, etc.? Really seems strange to me; I would have thought that it would be just as easy to implement this for any kind of annotation, so this omission sounds unnecessary. But then I'm not a programmer.

Hey, Is there any way to fix a 3D annotation to a specific offset from the model.. Please see picture below.My problem is, when i change the length of the ø50 cylinder part the dimension gets hidden in the solid model. I want this dimension to follow the model, instead of just staying in its place.  So far i have not been able to find a solution to fix this, I am running Creo 10 btw!Thanks,

I was using the "Check Pin Numbers" tool while verifying my BID-WID diagrams, and I noticed that every one of my components has one extra pin (according to the tool, anyway).  All of these components are made with a variable group connector and datatables, and each one only shows 6 pins. I've checked their properties, tried selecting children, and using the reorder members tool to make sure none were hidden or disabled.  The only thing I can think of is that Schematics is counting the Block Port as an additional pin on each component. I don't think this will stop me from exporting but it is a bit confusing.  Should I just ignore it, or is there an easy fix? 

Hi, I am converting an old Mathcad 15 sheet to Mathcad Prime 9.0 and am working through it resolving errors that have popped up in the conversion. Currently im stumped by an error that comes up with a summation in a program. See attached picture. The program worked perfectly fine in MC15 but in Prime it throws me a "this value must be an integer" error. I've tried backtracking what could be causing the error and the only thing i could come up with is if the error get's thrown in a step where it's trying to summarise from n=460->0... ? However the same formula worked fine in MC15. Kind regards,Johan

Hello dear colleagues, I wonder if you guys could help me out with this constraint in Creo Parametric 9. I designed this slot feature and I have this screw that I want to place there and have 2 degrees of freedom, one translation back and forward in the slot and another rotation around the screw axis. What types of constraint should I use? I tried Pin and Cylinder but I could not make that work. Thank you so much for the help!

There is an issue we are facing during PDF export from CS 7.0 compared to previous version CS 3.0 (used before CS 7.0) as mentioned below. The exported PDF from CS 7.0 (15MB) file size is 3 to 5 times larger than CS 3.0 (3MB). We just wonder why this drastic file size difference from older to newer versions. Sometime, it is taking more than 5 minutes to create the PDF file on CS 7.0.The exported PDF from CS 7.0 and open in Adobe Illustrator for edit text properties is automatically changing the TEXT format into DARFT format. I have CAD ( step/PVZ) models with parts which are composed of Facetset/Facet entities.I want to export the geometry as well as material data for these parts.I have got the API's to get the geometry data for them.I did not find the API to get the material/appearance properties of these kind of objects.There is one API ProSurfaceappearancepropsGet to get the appearance properties of the surface entities.But I did not get the similar API for the Facetset/Facet entities.Can anyone help me for this?

i am now trying to initial a function to get the dimension of pattern feature member, i can get the pattern member dimension of dimension pattern, direction pattern, but not point pattern.i'm not sure what the problem is ,maybe it is the handle that i'm using is wrong.for now i'm using:status = ProPatternHeaderGet(&pattern,&pFeature); it can successfully get the pattern member dimension for dimension pattern and direction pattern, but not point pattern.as the snapshot below, the dimension of pattern member is stored in sketch, now i don;t know how to get the sketch feature here.i tried ProPatternLeaderGet() function, it doesn't work.what is the difference between ProPatternHeader and ProPatternLeader, what function should i use to get the handle of the sketch for point pattern.many thanks for you all.

 

Hello. I posted this question on Eng-Tips and thought I'd come here. I just started using CREO (started at 7 we just upgraded to 10) and there is something that's been bugging me about how CREO manages Ordinate Dims. So, I've used NX and SolidWorks in the past. In both those programs I could start an ordinate chain by selection 0-0 and place Dim chains. In both those programs - if later on you need to change the 0-0 (origin) you would edit one or both 0-0 Dims - select a new reference and all of the dims updated. When I first started using CREO 7 I thought this would be a thing. Apparently, it was not. My colleagues even warned me if your 0-0 loses its reference (due to surfaces/design changing) you had to trick the origin into finding itself again. I performed a search - and I believe this has been going on within CREO since maybe 3.0. That seems crazy. So, leapfrogging to CREO 10 I was like - this definitely got fixed right? Greetings! Is there a module/macro/expansion for Creo Elements Direct Modeling similar to the Toolbox in Solidworks? Currently, when I want to grab a fastener. I have to go to a webpage built by our organisation. Download a .sdexp file and drag that into Creo. And Creo loads it from the database. This works fine. But I'd much rather have an interface within Creo itself that has this functionality.  My previous post was about customising my toolbar. And since then I've familiarized myself a bit more with the LISP programming language and the Syntax used by Creo. I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, but i do have some basic knowledge. So if there is no such module available. I would like to try my own hand at developing such an interface. I work in WF3.I want to move a part in an assy along a certain line which I have sketched.It is a simple sketch (straight line/tangent curve/straight line).I create a ASM-datapoint on the sketch and use "ratio" to decide the point's relative position along the sketch.The moving of the part is controlled by adjusting the ratio between 0 and 1.Now comes my problem. The datapoint will not move along the full sketch - it will only move within the segment of the sketch where I defined it. I believe I must convert the sketch to a curve which I have tried, using <insert;datum;curve;copy>. Although the resulting curve appears to follow the whole of the sketch, the result is the same. When defining the data point, it will only move within parts of the sketch.I might add that if the sketch only consists of 1 item it  works as intended.How do I convert my sketch to a chain which the data point regards as one curve?Using the option "through points" will only get me an approximation.&nbs

I developped a formula (thankS to the support of the Community here). The equations are quite long but I suppose for the MathCad engine it should be no problem.It just says the formula is too long to be displayed but it can be used for further calculation  The problem is the following calculations stays grey too and they are not refreshed. -Formula calculation are not refreshed -Quite often I have to kill the task because Mathcad does not answer   Any idea why this strange (and apparently random) behaviour ? Another strange thing is that when it works, the last  formula does not simplify the units, although i defined mm:=10^-3m and gm=10^-3kg Any clue of what is done done properly? Note: I am using Mathcad Prime 9.0.0.0

Hello everyone We have just switched to Creo 11 from Creo 9 ( jumped 10 ) and I am finding that Creo isn't retrieving Chuck and part assemblies, and the retrieve missing component function is no longer on the right click mouse option. Does anyone have any ideas what is happening. I have checked my search.pro file and my paths are correct. I don't know if this started in Creo 10 as we jumped that release version. Thank you 

I'm hoping someone might have a quick workaround.  Some years ago we purchased 25 permanent academic student licenses of MathCad 15 from PTC.  I understand that PTC no longer supports MathCad 15 and I've read the FAQs related to the changes.  While the FAQs warn against the risks of continuing to use these licenses, it does say that permanent licenses will still work.  Unfortunately when I now try to verify the Product Code through the MathCad License Setup Wizard and use the usual "acquire a license via the Internet" and then enter the Student educational Product Code along with my account login, an "Unexpected Error" window pops up pointing out that "The trial program software you are requesting is no longer available."  It then points me to the website to purchase the latest version.  The PTC licensing management team is aware of the issue and suggests that they are looking into recreating a permanent tool that will allow those of us with Product C

Hi Folks, I have what I think it s a simple question.  Solve blocks seem to require a bunch of needless space.  Is there any way to eliminate this?  V15 solve blocks were a lot more flexible. Update:  I asked a similar question about two years ago.  I'm just trying to find out whether PTC has made any progress on this. Mark   

This may be a silly question:- I recently started using CREO at work. I had a PC when I first got at work. They switched me out to a laptop.- I thought I remembered that CREO Versioned File Extensions (i.e. .1, .2, ... .50, .51) showed up in Windows FIle Explorer. Am I crazy?- I need to know the latest versioned file since this is how we manage rev control at our work - not Windchill here.- I remember the versioned file extensions showed up on my PC - now with my laptop I see nothing.- Is this a Window File Explorer setting - or a CREO setting?- So, when I have to upload a specific versioned file I have to use Windows sort by date to see latest.- Please help me see the actual versioned files in Windows Explorer or open/save dialog box.Thanks 

I am in the IT dept of my company and we use Mathcad Prime 9. I have a user who wants to know if it is possible to convert MathCAD 2000 files to a Prime 9 compatible format. I am not seeing much online about this so my expectations are low, but if it is possible please let me know.

Hi,Seems that Mathcad Prime 10 does not allow anymore this. How to do in this case?

Is there a shortcut way of making optional parameters in a function in either M15 or Prime 3.0? I haven't come across anything regarding this issue yet.I ask as this would be a great way to implement the same function with some options. We could use [] to define the optional parameter with the number inside defining the default value.

Hi there,I have a rather long (50+ pages) mathcad (Prime 9) sheet that I have built to be fully parametric. After changing one of the variables I suddenly find that one of the functions is not working as intended without an apparent reason. I have located the source of my problems, but I cannot seem to comprehend why is it throwing this error. I am using root function to solve for the location of the critical x as shown below. In my previous iteration for a different set of input parameters, this function worked as intended, but as I changed one (in this case L, though I doubt it matters too much), I am getting an error that these values cannot be compared even though they are clearly the same unit and allow for algebraic operations such as addition, subtraction etc, but when compared against another variable of the same unit I get this error. If I manually create a new variable, lets say y.crit and give it the exact same value ( through key input ) everything works again, th

I found the config option for naming a sheet metal flat pattern representation and wondering if there is one that will automatically name a flat pattern instance to some other default name.  We would like the flat pattern name to be <part number>-600 like we are doing for the rep. Creo 8.0.0.0 Thanks...

Hi,Why is it written that for subscript in text one needs to press ctrl+- and for superscript in text one needs to press ctrl++, while if someone press ctrl+- and ctrl++ it comes out of the way of being able to use subscript and superscript in the text. Is this indication written wrongly?

I am using Creo 8, and I am having problems publishing an AR experience of one of our larger assemblies, it fails, but I do not get any helpful feedback from the status bar or the popups  is there a better way to see why it is failing? I have been able to publish this assembly in the past, during a round of checks from my team we found a couple issues that were fixed on the Creo side, but when trying to publish again it is failing. I have tried to publish other smaller assemblies and they are hit or miss, I have published single part files and it is also hit or miss. I checked and it is not a firewall issue from what I can tell, but going to the https://app.ar-design.ptc.io/ site is very slow and occasionally will error out.   Thanks!
