Creo+ and Creo Parametric

I'm using CREO Parametric 7. I am trying to use CREO's built-in mass properties in my assembly drawings. I can use the session ID for each part to get the right numbers. "&pro_mp_mass:sessionid", but it's tedious to find the right session ID, and if the assembly changes, it's tedious to go through and change every session ID. I would rather use the feature name, or even Feat ID. It looks like I might be able to do something like "&pro_mp_mass:fid_FIND1" or "&pro_mp_mass:fid_40" (see attached image) but I can't get this to work. I know that I can get a nice full list of all the values in a repeat region, but I want to reference the value in another annotation, individually by part. Any thoughts? 

Hey guys,I've created a thin sheet-metal part with a sweep which is folowing a 3D-curve.Now I like to create a flat pattern of this part, but here creo does fail.I've also tried to create a "flatten quilt", but this won't work either.Does anybody know how to solve this? 

Hello,   I was wondering if anyone had any tips for handling a body which is defined in a multibody part file but then also occurs multiple times in said file.  For example, let’s say you have an injection molded housing and insert molded in all four corners of that housing is a custom metal component.  The metal piece is identical at all four positions.  Obviously this part is best modeled as a single instance in the multibody file and then extracted out as a single part.  I am looking for tips or best practices for how the other 3 instances should be handled.  Thanks in advance!

Select again" error reported when attempting to place datum "In Dim" in Pro/ENGINEER, Creo Elements/Pro, and Creo Parametric' in Knowledge Base, but when I try to open it I get the message "Sorry. How to reclaim lost Mill volume?

Many years ago, Prior to the Creo 4.0 release, I saw a demo of a 3D solid body sweep (non helical) feature that PTC was working on. Whatever happened to that functionality and when will it be available.

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this strange behavior of constraint icons or dimensions being lost ?So far this is what I've found:happens in creo 7.0.6 and 8.0.2on an Nvidia machine Quadro P2000 and on a virtual AVD AMD machinecomes out of the bluecan be missing in one part and still visible in another.restarting creo will often solve it.Updating to the latest driver won't helpoften on files originating from Creo 4 I'm not expecting advise or anything to solve it, just trying to collect more clues.

Hi Guys, One thing that always kind of bugs me in Creo was when in sketcher, trying to sketch an extrude or something.  When selecting an existing edge ...why does Creo let you pick the same edge more than once? (using project in sketcher) When that happens you no longer have a closed sketch, and have to remove it.  In other software I use, if you click an edge to use in your sketch, it sketches it. If you clicked that same edge again (say by accident) , it would removed it. So there was never a time it would have multiple sketched features one on top of another.  Is there a setting to not allow you to have multiple edges of the same edge in your sketch. Maybe its the way I am used to sketching things, but i have NEVER had the need or want to have the same edge picked more than once when in sketcher.  

I am using Creo Parametric Release 8.0 and Datecode8.0.3.0We want to give our own series for Part, assembly and drawing. For example if we start new part, then its name is coming as prt0001.prt but we want same to start with SSI_00_00 like this. This same name should come for drawing(in stead of drw0001.drw). Kindly advise the for the same.

I noticed today that my config.pro file has sent a ton options as invalid options. It appears to be the same 8-10 repeating over and over again. I don't seem to be able to delete any of them. Is there a way to "start fresh" or will I need to go into notepad to take care of these? It should also be noted that we are a small company and do not have a CAD Administrator to handle these types of issues.

Has anyone used DFMPro or aPriori before? Are there any similar tools out there? Is your organization getting benefit from these tools? What is your experience with your group using them? Any pros/cons from the user side or from an administrative side? Do you integrate them into Windchill? Is one much stronger than the other in some areas? Can they really predict costs well enough for the engineer?   Thanks!

Hello, I have been trying to find if there is an answer to this or not How do you redefine the attachment of the ECAD_REF_DES driven notes in the 3D model? Background:For our systems, I have been using the ECAD_REF_DES to assign reference designators at the top level assembly so that when manufacturing pulls down the creo view files created in windchill, the refdes for cables and pcbs show up for them, so they know with 3d annotations which cable is what The problem I am running into is that when I click show annotations and then activate the reference designator notes, that the attachment to the models that they reference is rarely where I want it, and it is never consistent. In some cases it is attached to the parts default csys, sometimes to the skeleton csys, sometimes to a random csys in the cable harness part. What we were doing is having to go in and create annotation features and then manually creating annotations for the BOM balloons and reference desi

Refer to the screenshot, people want to move all these balloons downwards by simply dragging the snap lines downward. By right now the snap lines can only be dragged to move sideward. Is the any way to drag these balloons downward with one move and at the same time keep them on the snap lines? Thanks.

Hey all, So, I know you can't add tolerances themselves into the .hol file but Is there a way to show the modified dimensions that had tolerances added to it after the hole was created? For example:Let's say in my hole file, I have a tap decimal diameter dimension of .397 and want the position limits to be .401 and .396. After I created the hole, I applied tolerances to the dimension but the note doesn't update with the new tolerance but rather uses the static value from the .hole chart. Or let's say I have a countersink diameter and my csinkdiam is .500 and want to apply a +.010/-.000 tolerance. How can I get that to automatically show up in the notes?

During sketching I often run into this constraint and I would like to disable it, the problem is, this one is not in the list of constraints in the options menu. A google search has not been fruitful.  I do not want the points of a box I am sketching to snap onto other references, I know I can right click to disable it but would prefer to not have to deal with this constraint at all. Any tips would be appreciated.

I am using Creo Parametric Release 4.0 and Datecode M120.I previously came from a large Aerospace corporation where we had hundreds of Creo users, and Creo was installed locally on each client, and configuration files were managed on a network share.In my current role, Creo Parametric is installed on a network share, and users are instructed to launch a client side bat file that contains "W:\Creo 4.0\M120\Parametric\bin\parametric.exe", W:\ being a network drive. We have roughly 20 Creo users. Actually launching and running Creo from a shared network resource is new to me.Once Creo is launched and up and running, are there any performance impacts to be concerned about with this configuration, compared to having Creo installed locally on each client?

In an assembly, one part was swapped out with another. The old part was deleted. The assembly model is still looking for the old part even though it cannot be found in the model tree. The message is:     If the model 1027_4000 and its instance 1027_4001 are recreated, the assembly is "happy". (Still do not see it in the model tree.) Clear memory and rename it ZZ1027_4000 and the error returns.   How can I find: Component id 429 in my assembly. Thanks, Dale

I sometimes create parts that are supposed to simulate the actual part but cost a fraction to produce. Ie the machined part should have the correct mass, center of gravity and ideally same, or similar responses as the purchased component. It will then be used for harsh mechanical testing, instead of potentially destroying an expensive component.This is a tedious trial and error process but is there a way of having Creo doing at least some of the work for me? Such as if I design a representative shape and I know that it should have a specific mass, I would extrude a hole (or several holes) to match the correct mass. Can I make Creo vary for example the depth of such a hole until the correct mass is met?Next will be to have Creo change the position of such a hole to meet the correct center of gravity.

Hi,I would be really glad if someone could tell me how I can set up the system to output pvz files without background/reference geometry.There's plenty of files which reference other parts and I wish to complete a design and output it to pvz file in order to create instructions in Creo Illustrate. However, when I export files I end up with some overlapping geometry and reference files (here without names assigned).Kind regards,Tom
