Hi - I'm new to mechanisms contstraints, but getting there. I have a problem where I have a door handle that can be depressed through a limited arc. There is also a button on the handle which can be depressed. I have set up the constraints for both of these pieces, but the problem is when I drag the button to the different positions on screen, the whole handle moves (through the arc) on the screen too. How do I set up so that I can drag the button to different on/off positions but I don't change the angle of the handle? Each piece should be independently movable without moving any other part. Counter to that, I can move the handle through the arc and the button stays in the position and doesn't move, so i know it can be done Thanks..
Hi guys I have a general question. I have used NX, Solidworks, CATIA, and other software before. I'm trying to learn how to sketch in both the sketcher and in the part function. In those other design softwares when a solid is fully constrained, the sketch wouldn't move. I'm getting used to this software but the issue is even after every dimension is correct and purpled out; i'm still able to drag the entities and the dimensions change. Do I have to lock each dimension after creating the sketch so it won't change or move? Or does Creo act like solidworks and CATIA where once the sketch is fully constrained it shouldn't move? Thanks for the help guys.
Hi community, I have a struggle with an exploded assembly, more specific the rotating portion in the exploded view. When I go into explode on the assembly and instead giving a distance I give an angle and select the rotating axis and the components I want to rotate around the selected axis, it does so…but…the specified angle in my case 9.5 Deg shows up on the drawing as 8.5 Deg Anybody else has had this issue? Anybody has a fix for this? Any help will be highly appreciated Thanks in advance Andreas
Hello, I find the alt+middle-mouse-button tool very useful for rotating. Often I am looking at some small corner of my part, far away from the part origin, and using this tool keeps the part right there in the middle. The middle-mouse-button (MMB) drag, on the other hand, works fine when I'm zoomed out, but I use the alt+MMB shortcut much more often. Is there a way I can swap these? So that the current alt+MMB behavior happens with just MMB?
Community, Is there a way to thicken the viewing plane lines in Creo 6? The first snippet below is from ASME Y14.2, and I know that Creo can make the first two viewing plane lines, but I have not found a way to thicken them. There is an option cutting_line_segment_thickness, but only for ends and corners, but I couldn't even get that to work. Thanks in advance.
Hello, I am asking for a co-worker who called and described over the phone. He says he is creating dimensions on a drawing, but when he goes to change aspects of the dimension like tolerance type, etc. The areas are greyed out leaving no options. I feel like this has happened to me in the past once or twice. I was thinkin something is either locked or read only. He can save the drawing aftr creatinf the dimensions. Just can tweak the dimension style, etc. Ring a bell with anyone? CREO 4.0 Thanks, Wayne
I have a subassembly that includes cables. At the next assembly level I want to cut the cables in the subassembly. When I try to do this all the parts in the assembly are cut except the cables. Is there a way to have an assembly cut - cut a cable?
HI Guys, We currently run Creo 3 m090. We are also in the process of testing out Creo 7 can someone explain how to return borrowed license files from each Creo 3 and Creo 7? When I try and return them, I get an error saying that they are borrowed from multiple VD's, and i need to specify which. How do i do this? Here is what my return script looks like. @echo on😧cd d:\PTCAPPS\"Creo 7.0.1.0"\Common Files\x86e_win64\obj\lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 PROE_EngineerIlmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 125lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 192lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 59lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 6lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 67lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 135lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 32lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 339lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 341lmutil lmborrow -return -c 7788@azuse2lic10 10124lmut
I like using the dynamic move tool in assemblies, but it is scaled too small to use easily. I'd like it to be perhaps double its current size. Zooming in doesn't work - it's the same size on my screen regardless of zoom, as it should be. Is there a way I can change the size of the dynamic move tool?
Hello, When I'm adding relations to repeat region they don't work. For example I added: if ASM_MBR_TYPE=="Bulk item" QTY=5 else QTY=rpt_qty endif and the qty of bulk items is not changed. Also I want to have a possibility to add more simple BOM balloons to bulk items and other items, without REF balloons, because they don't merge and it's a problem for me, I tried a lot of ways to make it and it don't work also. I will be grateful for any help 🙂
We can get more benefits if PTC offers Creo Feature level utilizationEx: How many members accessing Detailing / Sheet metal / Assembly / Part / .....This information helps to focus on user demands intermes of training and support
Recently changed a part modeled with a countersink to a countersink with a counter bore. It is a simple part with this feature patterned once. By doing this, though, the pattern is lost. Why would this happen if all of the changes are make within the "Hole" feature for the first hole?
Hi I am new to piping and would like to know how bend angle and bend radius is calculated? I could see that there are multiple entries separated by space unlike diameter value. In such case from line stock, we can find what is the diameter , but how to find out value of angle or radius for same? Any pointers towards this would be of great help. Thanks in advance..!
While practicing using the Schematics to Parametric Cabling application, I am successfully getting my harness to populate with the correct wire gauges and colors. When I save and upload this assembly to my workspace, I can still close it out and reopen it just fine. However, once I have closed Parametric and restarted my computer, my wires lose their color. The Appearance manager still has all of the colors named the same as the spool colors (all in lower case). I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Has anyone else experienced this or know where the error lies between my keyboard and chair? Thanks a ton!
Hi there, is there a function or method in the toolkit / web.link to get all combined views of a part? I am already using ListViews() in combination with RetrieveView() to cycle through all views and export them as jpegs. I hoped that there would be something similar but could not found anything in the web.link documentation. Thanks!
Hi everyone...I know I've been absent quite a bit. I'm heavy into a very large design task and therefore I'm using Creo 2.0 very, very heavily. While I do prefer it to Wildfire 5... and even to Wildfire 3, there are some parts that drive me insane. I guess I just wanted to get everyone else's impressions as a sanity check. The Measurement Tool in Creo 2.... how do you feel about it? I spoke to the developers in Anaheim about it and told them I did not like it. I tried to demonstrate some of the issues but I don't think they were "getting it". The implied notion they gave me was that I simply wasn't using the tool correctly. Instead of staying in "Summary", I should be using "Distance", etc. I went back to my job resolved to take another crack at it. Perhaps I was missing just how great the tool was!Eh... no.I've making measurements very, very frequently and I do not like the tool. I'll admit my opinion may be colored by fatigue. I've been working 16-18 hours a day (12 on weekends) and I
Hi there, I wrote a script that cycles through all Views of a model (Assembly or Part) and exports screenshots. Works quite sweet. But there seems to be a problem with -at least- parts with combined views. The function "ListViews()" does not work and throws an error "pfcExceptison::XToolkitInalidItem" var mGlob = pfcCreate("MpfcCOMGlobal"); var oSession = mGlob.GetProESession(); var CurModel = oSession.CurrentModel; CurModel.ListViews(); What's wrong?
I'm relatively new to Creo and just started working with sheetmetal with it and can't seem to find a efficient work flow. When making my base surface, then individually adding flanges to adjacent edges I can't figure out how to model the edge rips how I would like or modify the corner reliefs. What I do find I really like is taking a shell of my part and using the Conversion tool to convert it into a sheet metal part, as it gives me a good control over the two aforementioned parameters. The one issue I can't seem to figure out is how to modify the flanges when I do this. I can't make cuts to the flange along the bend edge without the part retaining a bend where I removed the material. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a way to add edge flanges to flat sheet in relation to each other so I have better control over the edge rips and corner reliefs? Is it possible to modify Conversion flanges so I can adjust the length parallel to the bend edge?
All:I am running Creo 3.0 and trying to install Parametric on a handful of machines. Found the install guide and tried setting up a batch file to run the install silently and remotely. It worked on Creo 2.0 but I am unable to get Creo 3.0 to install. I can show you guys my batch file to run it but it is nothing special and mirrors the one that is working. I was just informed that the licenses servers are having some issues but would that keep this from installing?OS: Win 7 SP1 x64SW: Creo 3.0 M100%~dp0setup.exe -xml %~dp0xml\sim.p.xml -xml %~dp0xml\pma.p.xml -xml %~dp0xml\creobase.p.xml
Hi, my goal is to export an specific amount of parts (or better the model with a subset of parts) from an existing model from windchill via the rest api, in order to use/convert the model for further applications (okino polytrans -> unity, ....) Detailed description: There is a complete model with all variants/features within windchill - we call it the 150% model. The task is to export a specific variant of the model. What I have done/reached so far: I'm able to get the part tree list for the model via the rest api (parts for the 150% model), filter the tree in order to get the specific variant and get the visualization data (pvz/ol file) for each part. The Problem: For my understanding the pvs file is the "glue" (I guess it contains the coordinates) between each ol file. Using the PTC visualization domain will give me a lot of pvz files - one for each part. It is not possible to open this e.g. in polytrans. Another solution was to export a pvs from creoview and
Hello everyone and welcome to blog post #6 in this multibody blog series. I got asked recently : How can I display a user-defined body parameter in the model tree? If you are interested in that as well, here is how you do it. Let’s walk through an example step-by-step. Step 1) Let’s assign a body parameter (and let’s call it for example “MY_BODY_PARAM”) Step 2) Open the Model Tree Columns display dialog Step 3) Select the Type: Body Params Step 4) You might notice that the list shows system parameters related to bodies (e.g. PTC_ASSIGNED_MATERIAL), but not the newly added user-defined parameter Step 5) Manually enter the user-defined-parameter (in our example “MY_BODY_PARAM”) into the Name field and click the double-arrow to move it into the displayed columns Step 6) Click “OK” and ensure model tree columns are displayed. Now you should be able to see your body parameters as part of the displayed model tree
Hi, I want to measure minimum distance between two components from Protoolkit. Please can we know API and process to do this. We want to make it automate process so no selection. Component we will identify by its attribute and provide to API. From front end I can measure minimum distance between two components by selecting components and then Measure -> distance then it displays. So need process through protoolkit. Regards, Prashant Pandarkar
One of our clients has recently moved to Creo 3.0 after we migrated their servers to 2012r2 and 2016 boxes. We installed PTC LMAdmin on their new licensing server and added the needed licenses. When we go to the needed machines and install Creo 3.0 it discovers the license server and adds the licence however when we open any of the creo products it prompts us with the following error: License request failed for feature Requesting PROE_EssentialsM... 7788@LicensingServer: (-96) License server machine is down or not responding.. We have made sure PTC LMAdmin is running and that the needed machine is able to ping the server, and see its network shares. we also decied to run the reconfigure setup and entered the licensing server again, it once agian saw there was an available license on the server and added it. When opening Creo simulate it once again displays the same error as ab above. Is there something else that we are missing here?
I got a .stl file, shrink wrapped the file and saved to a solid. So I would like to make it thinner, anyone got any suggestions?
I'd like to be able to tell at a glance when I'm opening a sketch whether something is a radius or diameter dimension. Is there a way I can make so that these dimensions will always automatically appear in the sketcher with the respective prefix, i.e. R for radii and D or ⌀ for diameters?
