Creo+ and Creo Parametric

Hi, I am trying to trim a couple of relatively complex sheets in Creo 5.0.5.0 and encountering some issues. The attached screenshots shows the target and tool that I am trying to use in the operation but output error is 'Feature aborted. Failed to intersect part". I cannot fathom what is causing the issue as the tool goes completely through the target and out the other side. The only thing I can think of is that the top of the tool surface isn't intersecting (hopefully visible in the images) with anything but surely the whole tool doesn't have to be in contact with the target, otherwise how would you create complex cutouts? Any help on how to get around this, would be greatly appreciated!   Not sure if this makes any difference but I should probably add that I am doing this on a standard Creo without the Surfacing Design extension.   Thanks in advance, Nick  

Hey PTC,   I am trying to use Creo Simulate or Creo Simulate Live on my home workstation. Unfortunately all functions of Creo Simulate Live and Creo Simulate are grayed out. I use the student version 7.0.1.0. If I try to get a free test version I get an error that says "Userinformation cannot be valdiated" Thank you for your help   Kind regards,  Arn 

Has anyone in the community used the Computer Aided Verification module in Creo to inspect parts with a CMM machine or parts that are scanned with a CT scanner? I found one 10 minute video online but information on the internet is scarce. It would be good to see a webinar running through it. Can anyone share any links or have experience using it in industry for inspection? Ideal scenario is I can program the CMM probe in Creo to specific points on the CAD model and use the GD&T annotations/references the design folks have built into the model to see if my physical part is within tolerance. Any help or general information will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,   I'm trying to get a set of relations/parameters to work in my repeat region BOM table, but having some issues.   Essentially I've got a bulk item in my top level assembly. I currently have a set of relations for my repeat region as:   IF asm_mbr_type == "BULK ITEM"qty = "A/R"ELSEqty = rpt_qtyENDIF   This works great for a lot of our bulk items that use smaller quantities, as they just show up in the table as "A/R". However, I'd like a way to report the quantity used for other bulk items as a discrete amount (total volume of glue used, for example).   I can do this by changing the relations to   IF asm_mbr_type == "BULK ITEM"qty = "A/R"ELSEqty = rpt_qtyENDIF   IF asm_mbr_part_num == "bulk"qty = "2 gal"ENDIF   Again, this works great as well. I am new to Creo Object toolkit. I had some experience using Creo customization using VBA, that too few years back.   Problem: I want to create a section in assembly by picking a face of one part and want to know section of other part which is intersecting first part. I used sample example available in OTKXCrossSection.cxx Issue:  1. When I run the program and select the face of part as reference for PlanarXSection , it gives error as 'XToolkitBadInputs' 2. If I select the datum from the part, it creates section without any output. I was looking to add this into my drawing table, but it is not working for me. I have found online the following solution, but it is not working for me. I'm seriously about to lose my mind. I have wasted the better part of two weeks trying to run analysis on a mechanism under different load conditions/positions.   When I started the analysis I had no issues setting up and running the first few conditions and AutoGEM created a mesh with zero warnings/errors. After changing the position and load conditions a few times, AutoGEM will no longer mesh. It will either crash with an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLOATION error (despite setting graphics win32_gdi), get to 99% and say it can't complete the mesh, or start at 99% and work downward to 80% or so before it quits and says it can't mesh.   I have tried the following things to get the mesh working again. Some times it works, but most of the time it doesnt: Double check that there are no interferences/gaps, geometry issues, or tolerance issues. Reorder the components or suppress components. Manually delete the mesh files from the working directory. Restart Creo and restart the computer. E

Hello. I have written a program to explore an assembly, by connection to an open PTC Creo session (using of ProEngineerConnect()). This program uses the function ProSolidFeatVisit(visit_model_cb) to visit each component of the main assembly. An the called function visit_model_cb() uses itself the ProSolidFeatVisit() function recursively. So, the entire assembly is visited. My probem is that I can not detect the hidden components, in visit_model_cb(). I tried ProFeatureVisibilityGet(), ProFeatureStatusGet(), ProAsmcompVisibilityGet() but all these functions return true for the visibility of the visited component, even if this component is hidden in PTC Creo. I would appreciate any help to solve my problem. Thank you. Best regards.  

Model Axes not showing up in Drawing Tried turning on/off in View  Tried changing Config to yes & all sub Tried hide/show in Model tree   I can see them briefly if I rotate View Type with the Angles toggle but they disappear after clicking OK. all other datum feature show up fine 

What config in the drawing config file controls whether a "Limits" dimension is Lower-Higher (side by side) vs Higher/Lower (above and below)?        

First I'd like to apologise if this question has been already asked by someone else but I didn't find similar. I've got a question about using parameters for dimensions. I understand meaning of parameters and also know how to use it. I know I should set parameters for some informations which can be useful in Drawing (e.g. inside drawing table) later (like material parameters, part/asm name, etc.) and I heard that I also should set parameters for some type of dimensions. The problem is I cannot find out in which situations should I do it. The only tip/answer I found is that I should set parameters for dimensions that can be changed in time. But... all dimensions can be changed while working on project actually. So, could you please explain me when to set parameters for dimensions?Also if you have some another informations about parameters and its using I'd be grateful for giving it.Thank you very much in advance! 

I currently have a config pro setting for a web browser homepage. That works fine. What I am looking for is the ability to define the web location of a secondary tab so that the tab shows a defined web page. If there was a way to define a web favorite in the internal browser that would also be acceptable. 

Hello everyone, I am Victor from Spain. At our company we are thinking to start using family tables to manage our family assemblies. However, we are still reluctant in how Creo manage future instance modifications. As we are using a PLM to manage our documentation, we are worried about the fact that instance can be modified without not even opening the generic. For example, having a generic assembly (ASM0001)saved with 2 different instances (ASM0001_INST1 and ASM0001_INST1) on the BBDD . It is possible that in the future a colleague could modify and save the ASM0001_INST1 not modifying the generic and making a discrepancy on our BBD.   With that exposed, our question is: Does exist a way to block or prevent instance modifications out of the generic?   Thanks for your support!         

Hi, Is it possible to attach a parameter to a particular part / set of parts that is context-sensitive within an assembly? We want to add a parameter that specifies if a part is bought by us / manufactured by us / bought in as part of a sub-assembly. There are some places where the same P/N (a clinch stud) is bought in as parts of a purchased assembly, but the same creo part is also bought individually by us and installed by us, so the parameter needs to be different for each instance of each part in each assembly. 

We are using Creo Paramatric for 3D modelling.   1. In Creo Illustrate, while importing file in .pvz fromat; we observe colour difference in some of the components.   2. and while importing in .asm format some components disappears in eBOM as well as sBOM.

I have installed Creo 6 in my system, but facing a lagging while doing part modeling not able to select the datum plane for creating a sketch, Earlier I was using Creo 5 and I have not faced such an issue with it. Please help

How do you do this? We tend to make parts off of other parts that are similar so it would come in handy to be able to attach drawings to models. When I tried making a copy of a drawing it still kept it attached to the old model. I tried using add model under legacy migration but it did nothing. Thanks for any help.

needing some advice, our drawings are set up with rev table that appear to be a standard table. is there a way to hide rows from this table without deleting them? or is there a specific rev table template? i previously used SW and they have a dedicated rev table with this and more functionality. thanks

If and IFX screw exists in my working dictionary/session putting in the screw is normal, it happens fast without problem. But if IFX has to generate to model from .dat file it takes a lot of time. We both tested if the .dat files were on local drive or network drive there, but is not real  difference. The problem seems to happen if the working dictionary is full of stuff, which happens a lot since we use large assemblies   Does anyone else has this same problem? Or any solution? Or at least and explanation why this could happen?

I distinctly remember someone sharing a hack that would allow multi-line text to be passed via a parameter into a note or table cell.  I've scoured the community and I can't find it, but I think that may be more a function of how the search tool works here.  It was something along the lines of creating a multi-line note, referencing the note with a parameter, and then using that parameter on the drawing.  Does anyone remember the exact steps to make this work?  Thanks.

Hi All   I am trying to identify zone location for note ProDrawingPosToLocgrid. For this purpose, note location is input. Location I got from API ProDtlnoteLineEnvelopeGet. As it is in screen coordinate, I tried to use ProDrawingSheetTrfGet and ProPntTrfEval. But everytime, ProDrawingPosToLocgrid is saying Row as A and Col as 1 and it is not changing position. Any thought would be of great help.
