My company is looking to implement intelligent fasteners into our assemblies. We have a standard part numbering system for all the fasteners we use. The issue is that we have hundreds of existing fasteners already stored in Windchill and our assemblies. Most of these are just cad downloaded from the internet (not IFX). Is there a way to easily implement intelligent fasteners into existing assemblies with fasteners (a way to replace all our old cad with the intelligent fastener cad)?
In the large Assembly, when you need to simplify your drawing view, the layer technique is the best option to deal with component visibility. Find out more in the video. Hope you find it useful, I will look forward for your comments, Thanks.
Community, I have encountered an unusual problem in a drawing. I have an assembly that consists of only solid components, and when I added the model to a sheet, it uploads with no problems. However, when I add a wire harness to the assembly, and upload the assembly again, the assembly is extremely small. When I suppress the wire harness, the drawing returns to a normal size. Has anyone encountered this type of problem and is there a solution? Thanks in advance.
While creating a assembly drawing I am getting too many sketches displayed (in Pink and blue color) inside every views, its child parts are created with many features like merge, surface extrusion, cosmetic sketches etc., From top level assembly how can I hide all these sketches using layer and rules? instead of finding actual child part and hiding its sketch feature.
i have both creo 6.0 and 5.0(EDU) installed, when i insert mm/DIN fastener it seems to be fine, but if i choose ANSI bolt like 6-32 Socket, it will say csdd.prt not found. i did navigate this file, it's not in ifx_fastener_data forder but in prolibrary. i want to know how to add path of prolibrary with ANSI standard to IFX, or how do i merge all prt files from prolibrary to ifx_fastener_data folder.
Wanted to copy a file without the flat pattern being linked to the original file, Any idea how to do so? So when I copy the file, I can create A new flat pattern. Currently using Creo 2.0, Am a student
I want to know whether we can use the sketches saved in session or not.
Hello, In Creo 5, there is a part that has been modified in my workspace that I did not modify. I have attempted to update this object to override this modification with the latest version in PDM and Creo is preventing me from doing this. What am I doing wrong here?
Hi all, Would really appreciate if someone can shed some light on this. Created an assembly in Creo Parametric 5, called it STATIC.asm (has A.prt and B.prt with A and B being FULLY constraint with one another) Created an assembly, called it RANDOM1.asm (has subassembly STATIC.asm in it) Created another assembly, called it RANDOM2.asm (also has subassembly STATIC.asm in it) Now the problem. When I opened RANDOM1.asm and break constraint between A.prt and B.prt in the subassembly STATIC.asm (break the constraint and move A and B apart), this action is automatically reflected in both RADOM2.asm and STATIC.asm. (i.e A.prt and B.prt are no longer constraint and are now pulled apart in both RANDOM2 and STATIC.asm) Is there a way, to break the constraint between A.prt and B.prt in RANDOM1.asm and still keep both STATIC.asm and RANDOM2.asm intact? I’m only 3 months new to CAD, so please try to keep explanation simple if possible. Thank you
Hello every body i am trying to run an optimization study in creo simulate.i takes a very long time and keep the (running) button active all the time and no results appear.can any body help me?thanks
Quick video tutorial - How to use Collapse feature
I had created the recipe editor as per the PTC case https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS286532 and got created the pvz file successfully but when i imported to creo illustrate i was not able to succeed with right view for states. 1. opened the creo view 2. import creo view file 3. got the list of mbd states in it 4. new picture and selected the required mbd states but creo illustrate was not positioned the view as per the creo mbd state definition. i did it manually. the same reproduced in vuforia too. not positioning as per mbd definition.
Hello, Looking for help with Pro-Program IF statement. I have a part model that has 2 different bolt hole patterns. I would like to turn off or suppress the larger bolt pattern when the diameter is below a certain size. For instance; If diameter d37 <= 5.500, turn off or suppress pattern 2, else leave pattern 2. I greatly appreciate the help, Steve
Hello, I am using CREO Parametric 5.0.2.0. I performed simulation of frame, made in Framework, in Simulate Lite (as picture bellow) and everything went fine. But when I moved middle beam, so the surfaces of all beams are coplanar, I get error (pictures bellow). As I understand it right, it is because I moved beam out of its original axis and now Simulate considers this beam as non constrained to other beams. Is there any solution, so I do not have to move beams to their original positions, every time I would like to perform simulation?
Some of my day consists of taking standard parts and making specials.Typically this is just simple length changes per the customers requirements. The question I have is with the way the drawing handles length changes. If you have a partial view and the length is changed, why does the centerline and dimension not move with the end of the part relative to where they had been to the standard part? The first drawings shows the part from the standard drawing. The second drawings shows the part when, in this case, the part was made longer. The centerline of the notch of the tube is now where the end of the shorter, parent part would be given the new length of the part. Why does the centerline and therefore the dimension stay relative to this portion of the part that is in the view? This happens on several parts and several drawings when a part is either lengthened or shortened for a special. If you had any suggestion how to keep the centerline relative to the portian of the view shown, I would ap
I'm fairly a beginner for both Cabling and Schematics and need to help company up these programs to fit in the work flow. I have encountered several problems which are not able to find solutions through PTC support manual: 1. How to use terminator table/other methods in Creo Schematics to map out port/pin parameters value? Such as I would love to assign terminal name, seal name and signal name to several connectors, I could not apply it while making the connector artifacts because these parameter values vary with different harness, is there an easier way to do it? 2. I also try to use terminator table in PCX, but it's not working. I didnt save the port artifact I instanced on connector artifacts in the central catalogue and did not define terminal names while routing the wiring diagram, what's the potential issue here? 3. I want to have a BOM table which will give all parts assembled in the harness assembly (housing, locking device etc.), terminals & wire seal
My company uses drawing templates to help maintain consistency with company drafting standards. If our standard notes need an update, I have to update all of our drawing templates (we have about 15). Is there a way for a drawing template to pull its notes from a file? In this way I would only need to update the notes documents? Thanks, Bob
I set few parameter in the part. but it fail to show in my drawing. if i use "note" key in my customize parameter , it able to show. but it just can not show in table. possible to advise , how to solve this problem.
Hi, I'm working on a project for a client & I need to upload all the latest versions of the models & drawings I have created to a shared directory. There are hundreds of parts & I don't want to have to go through each one & delete all the old versions . Is there an easy way to do this?
I want to locate datum points on an edge between two parts. The location of these datum points should be based on a particular dihedral angle. For example, Point 1 should be placed where the dihedral angle is 30 degrees on the edge. And point 2 should be placed where the dihedral angle is 45 degrees etc. Also, these points should then adjust automatically when the part geometry is modified resulting in a change in dihedral angles. Please let me know how can I model this in creo parametric 6. Thanks.
Hi,I'm running Creo 3.0 M050, and have a problem where I'm trying to create a BOM in my detail drawing of an assembly. The table is placed in the drawing and a region appears to be set, as the table shows the correct number of rows for each part in the assembly and I can apply balloons to the views. However, the table is not populating data in the columns, even for "rpt.index". What may be the cause and fix for this? Also, I have created a hole table for one of the components in this drawing, could I have fouled something then trying to do this? Thanks in advance.
I am running into an issue trying to return a borrowed license. (yes I do have a support call open but have no answer yet.) In the middle of the borrowed license I had to update the license file due to a renewal of one of the licenses. When I did, the borrowed licenses did not show up as being used anymore. One of the suggestions was to go back to the old license file, but that didn't show the borrowed license either. I am running the correct command but I get this error: lmborrow: Error, borrowed license doesn't match any known server license. (-128,595) I'm hoping someone else has had this issue and was able to fix it. Thank you, Brian
I have a component assembled into a top level assy. I have successfully read the component constraints using ProAsmcompCnstraintsGet. Constraint Type is CSYS. I want this to be a different Csys. (Of which I have the handle) How do I set which csys to reference in the Proasmcompconstraint datastructure.. Typically csys to csys needs no further constraint data. Does anyone have any sample code dealing with assemblycompconstraint. TK example is very limited on this topic.
Scenario:Creating a text in drawing mode --> "Note Properties" dialog box opens for use.Begin writing text and need a "Text Symbol". --> need to click on an extra button to open (yet another) dialog box for "Text Symbol" which opens you know where (ie. not near nor within the "Note Properties" dialog box itself. What a waste and distraction --> extra click to open "Text Symbol", then search for it.Can't the "Text Symbol" elements be integrated DIRECTLY into the right side of the "Note Properties" dialog box under the button for "Hyperlink.." and then also have the "Text Symbol.." button removed? It is such a pita to have to make drawing texts like this day in and day with this irritating non-value nonsensical extra work.Sorry, just needed to vent.
In the design process, when outer surface area is required for coating treatment for set of assembly parts, SHRINKWRAP technique can be useful as described in this video. In this, you would find: Extracting the outer surface geometry, Creating Area Measure Feature And Calling out the Area Parameter in the Drawing from the measure feature. Let me know in the past how you would have managed to achieve this or any suggestions…
