KEPServerEX 6.14 version 6.14.263.0 The problem statement is that I have Modbus rtu communication where Rs 232 is converted to TCP/IP then via layer 3 switch i can transmit the data to my server in DMZ where the data can be checked using serial port utility software but i am unable configure the same in my Kepware software in the same server to fetch the data. Can you please suggest how to proceed further with Kepware software. I am new for using Kepware but could be able to configure other protocols like Modbus tcpip, opc ua and opc da but unavailable to configure the same. Kindly guide me to get the data in kepware. #kepware
Our Kepware server (v6.16.203.0) is connected with a Siemens PLC 1500 with the Siemens Plus Suite - (KWP-SIEMP0-PRD KWM-SIEMP0-ATT) driver. The PLC has defined a datatype WString of 10 characters long (24 bytes). Which datatype should we define in the Kepware server as the datatype wstring does not exist (only string). When we define the tag as DB1101.STRING0034.24 we receive no error but when reading the value from the plc we get a blank result. If we define as bytearay or hexstring e.g. DB1101.HEXSTRING0034.24 then we get the value of the PLC returned as 000A0000300068000... which seems as the correct hex representation of the PLC value. However it is not clear how to write a value to the wstring. We tried several notations with the Quick client, but always get errors like: Failed on item <tagname> synchronous write.Changing the PLC program or address types is not an option - we can adjust or IT application (=opclient) but need to know how to write to this datatype wstring
Dear ptc communityI am currently using the U-CON driver in Kepware to collect data from a device over UDP (not TCP). The system works stably for the most part, but intermittently, the tag values stop updating in Kepware without any errors or changes in status. The data quality remains "Good", but the values become frozen. To clarify: I’ve verified using both Wireshark and Kepware's diagnostics tools that UDP packets are still being received from the device at the expected interval and in the correct format.Despite this, Kepware stops updating tag values, and there is no indication of failure or timeout within the application.Only a restart or reinitialization of the U-CON driver restores normal operation. The device always ends its transmission with a consistent termination character. I’ve tried both termination-based and fixed-length receive modes, but the issue still occurs occasionally.I would appreciate your help with the following:What could cause the U-CON driver to stop updating v
hi guys, Could you know whether Kepware Server can support communication between Siemens PLC and Siemens Desigo CC via BACnet/IP? Although Siemens provides a BACnet gateway for BACnet integration, its network configuration does not comply with IT security requirements. Therefore, I would like to know if Kepware can perform protocol translation. If so, could you provide a configuration manual? Thank you very much.
When i browse the tags through Matrikon OPC UA explorer, The tag displays all the attributes along with the value. is there any way we can suppress them.
I have about 30 sensors that support Json Get requests for data but I am struggling to find the appropriate way to get this data and assign it to tags in Kepware. I have found several articles that point to UD or U-CON or IoT as solutions but the articles don't match reality. I have a get request - "https://webapi.ubibot.com/channels/{channel ID}?account_key={27digit_key}" that returns the data from the sensor in a format that will nee to be parsed to pull out certain fields. Does anyone have a good process for this? Happy to provide more info or sample responses if that helps.
Hello, I would like to set up communication between two KEP Servers KEP Server to KEP Server.Currently, the other KEP Server is reading tags from our server, but we are unable to read their tags. Our current license status is as shown below.Do we need to purchase a separate OPC UA Client? If so, how much does it cost approximately?
I activated the license of KEPServerEX. However, this message appears each minute. How can I remove it?
At the moment Kepserver is only able to publish it's data to a MQTT broker as a json string. Because og this I need an extra software tool to split tags into topics and republish them into a UNS.I need Kepserver to be able to publish each tag on a separate topic for example corresponding to the structure of the tag groups in Kep. Is thes a part of Kepware's reoadmap?
Our Kepware servers are reading around 100,000 tags from DCS server and forwarding to PI servers. We created one channel connecting to DCS server, and the minimum tag scan rate is 5000ms. The problem is when I meet some problems and reboot Kepware server, the DCS server will slow down for about 10 minutes after the Kepware instance running. We have already deleted 20,000 unnecessary tags, now the number is around 80,000, the problem remains. We also enabled “Read form cache” when start up, but it did not help. Would you please give suggestions on below points: 1. How to proof that it is not hardware issue which caused this problem? What should I check on DCS server side when Kepware server rebooted? For example, CPU load, network load, hard drive load, etc. By the way, the spec of DCS server is i7+32GB RAM+1TB SSD. 2. Is it possible to solve this problem just by changing settings or optimizing tag list in Kepware? So that we have less job to do and less arguments with other teams.
Dear Kepware Team,@bdube@ptc.com I hope this message finds you well.As part of our ongoing efforts to align with upcoming EU cybersecurity regulations, I would like to inquire whether Kepware products—specifically KEPServerEX—are expected to be subject to the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).If so, could you kindly share:Whether Kepware is actively working towards CRA compliance? The anticipated timeline by which Kepware products will be CRA-compliant?Any documentation or roadmap that outlines your approach to meeting CRA obligations?Understanding your position on this matter will help us plan our integration and compliance strategy accordingly.Thank you in advance for your support. Best regards,Mani
I have no problem in reading Kepware simulator from address R0001 (which self incrementing) from node-red, but unable to write into address K0001 or S0001 in node-red. Any advice will be much appreciated ? The moment i started to write, the node-red exited!. ns=2;s=SimulatorChannel.SimulatorDevice.MyWriteTag
Hello. Im wanting to communicate with some ABB totalflow computers through Factorytalk SE. Do I need just the ABB Totalflow driver or do I need the OPC connectivity suite as well.
I need to transfer a Kepware license (offline)... 1. I created the trasfer_request file on the 1st server... no issues2. I uploaded the transfer_request file to kepware portal... no issues3. I created the activation_request file in the 2nd server... no issues4. I uploaded the activation_request file to kepware portal and everything seems to be ok... I complete the form with the requested information... no issues5. however when trying to create the activation_response file, the file is not generated and google is only redirecting me to a page with the next title "Legal Policies, Agreements and Disclaimers" (see attached image)Please advise... I really need to get the activation_response file in order to activate the 2nd server.
We are working with PLC Siemens S7-1500 Firmware v4.0. OPC is able to establish connection but at some point it disconnects and gives following error: "Device is not responding. Connection closed by device". Slot and rack in configurtion is correct. PLC Siemens S7-1500 Firmware v4.0KEPServerEX version 6.18 Could you please suggest any solution?
Dear Team,We are setting up Kepware to connect to an OPC UA server (e.g., Prosys/800xA) and publish selected tags into an MQTT broker at the Edge (Mosquitto).I see that Kepware offers both the OPC Connectivity Suite and the IoT Gateway add-on. The product descriptions are a little confusing in terms of overlap, so I want to confirm:If my use case is strictly OPC UA → MQTT JSON payloads, is the OPC Connectivity Suite license sufficient?Do I still need the IoT Gateway license in addition to OPC Connectivity Suite for MQTT publishing? Is there any difference in MQTT support between these two (e.g., Sparkplug B, payload formatting)? Are there any tag limits for each of the two license suites ?For long-term production deployments, which is the recommended license bundle for OPC UA to MQTT?Thanks in advance for clarifying!
Using KEPServerEX 6.7; ModBus TCP/IP Ethernet driver try to connect to Endress+Hauser promag 400 MB flowmeter.I have connection established with no errors to flow meter, but keep reading quality good from registers but zero values. For example the register 32909, ModBus Id, should be "10" and i am reading "0"I am suspicious of some Data access or Data Encoding parameter not well configured.
I have KEPServerEX 6.17.269 installed. I ran Nessus Vulnerability scanner and it appeared that .NET 6.0 is installed on PC. I think that KEPServerEX uses .NET.The reccomended remediation is to install .NET version 8.0. I wanted to ask if KEPServerEX 6.17.269 is compatible with .NET version 8.0? Is there any page that I could see which versions of .NET is suported by which version of KepServerEx?
Hi, I have used Kepware with Siemens WinCC SCADA in the past to communicate with Rockwell Control Logix PLC's but did not create any static tags within Kepware. I created a tag database within WinCC and the WinCC SCADA tag addresses contain the path to the OPC topic and the controller tag within the PLC. I am now looking at an existing FTView SE application that is using Kepware to communicate with Mitsubishi PLC's but has created static tags within the Kepware configuration so the FTView application uses the Kepware static tags directly without having to create HMI tags in the FTView application. Are there any performance advantages by creating static tags in Kepware and using them directly within the FTView application as opposed to creating the tags within the FTView system ? How does the Kepware comms driver handle comms in these two situation ?
Has any one found a way to read active tool number using Fanuc Focas driver on Doosan CNC?
Hello, I have exactly the same issue as into this topic : Kepware Trust certificates - PTC Community Can you please tell me if somebody has some solution regarding this topic ? On my side, I put on the Kepware Certificate Store the certificate of Thingworx Server. Do i need to put also the Root and Intermediate from my company ? Thank you Guillaume Thingworx version : 9.7Kepware version : 6.17
We have identified the FlexNet publisher installed automatically with the Kepware install as a cyber vulnerability and want to remove it. We have KEPServer EX6 v6.6.350.0 installed. It is using a lic file for licencing. Can the FNPLicencingService application in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FlexNet Publisher be removed without impacting the running of the KepWare application?
it's a warning in the log of Kepware ,It says "Write request timeout on device'FP_A_U4_Pester.Overwrapper' and 'FP_A_U4_Pester.Overwrapper Unable to write to address on device .Address ='PLC1:.fold_TuT_AlarmInterlock' I use OPC -DA protocol establish communication between Kepware and FP_A_U4_Pester.Overwrapper , and I use Advance tag to write a boolean to PLC ( "PLC1:FP_A_U4_Pester.Overwrapper.fold_TuT_AlarmInterlock") ,I check from the PLC of machine , it's successful sent the boolean from Kepware to PLC1:FP_A_U4_Pester.Overwrapper.fold_TuT_AlarmInterlock ,my question is why I have a warning message when Kepware have a successful sending ? if you want get any further information ,please contact me any time when you are free .thanks a lot.
Hello all,I am a new user working on a project for a customer. We are using KEPServerEX 6.17.240.0 on 2 redundant VMs to connect to several Siemens S7-400 and S7-1500 PLCs via Siemens TCP/IP and OPC UA protocol respectively. After Reinitializing, I get the following warnings for each OPC UA connections: Date Time Level Source Event05/09/2025 07:32:22 Warning OPC UA Client CHANNEL.DEVICE | The Publishing Interval for device has been set by the server. | New interval = 1000 (milliseconds), Requested interval = 500 (milliseconds). The publishing interval is set to 500ms for all devices on the KEPServer. I was shown by one of the PLC programmers that the PLC's intervals ("sampling" and "sending" intervals) are also 500ms. Most of the connected PLCs are programmed by different people so I find it unlikely that all of them set the interval to 1000 instead of 500, so I suspect the error on my side. However, I couldn't find anything that I could have missed. Does anyone have an
