Mathcad

I am trying to develop an application that allows the user to see if a given value of axial load and moment can be will be safely supported on a spread footing.  Civil engineers are familiar with using interaction diagrams for columns and I am trying to implement the same principle for a spread footing.  The attached sheet works for the first two regions of the analysis where the load-moment curve is defined by decrementing the soil pressure from one side to the point where the pressure is maximum at one side and zero on the other.  If you look at the P array created by the sheet, it is correctly populated using a while loop which terminates when the pressure becomes less than zero.  After exiting the loop, I created a second while loop which starts calculating the axial load by moving the pressure triangle across the footing surface in specified increments.The problem is that although the second while loop executes correctly, I am not able to append the calculated

I've been using MathCAD 15 for some years now with no real issues however since I started using MathCAD Prime 3.0 I've been having trouble getting accustomed to the programming aspect.Some functions that I've become accustomed to have seemingly disappeared or I can't locate them.For example, I understand how to return some text if A > B. What I want to do is return some text for A >B AND C < D and if those aren't satisfied, return some other text. In MCAD 15 I'd just type:"Success" if A>B ^ C<D"Failure" otherwise"Success" if E>F ^ G<H"Failure" otherwise(^ is the boolean logic for AND)But in the new Prime, I'm not too sure as I don't know how to account for the general otherwise statement.Can anyone help me out here ?

Hi, I'm using a win7 professional 64 bit with Excel 2010 and Mathcad 15. After updating Mathcad from M020 to M045 the Excel components in an existing Mathcad worksheet no longer work. Additionally, if I insert a new Excel component, it seems to work, but after reloading the Mathcad file, the same error occurs: server error or invalid worksheet name specifided.

Hi,I'm new to this forum.I've been having a problem lately where the above keystroke is not working for me.All other keystrokes / shortcuts seem to be working fine.CTRL + A selects everything on the document and SHIFT + A types "A" as per usual, however, combining the two, to create a math region within a text region has no effect.At the moment I have simply had to either use the menu - Insert > Math Region, or by right clicking where I would like the math region inserted.However, I am wondering if anyone has encountered this and managed to resolve the issue?Thank you in advance.Andrew

So I started using Mathcad Prime 3.0 in anger last week at work. Some colleagues had used it before and it seemed powerful, lots of plus points.Once I'd got my head round it I was really getting into it, looking at how much a licence would be, wondering how much better things would be if everyone in our group used it .... until I came to plot ... OMG.I could not understand what I was doing wrong - why couldn't I find the plot controls - because they don't exist !!This is just unbelievable. The output of science and engineering software such as mathcad/matlab/etc is usually a graph, or a lot of graphs!Unfortunately Excel, matlab etc do a much much better job of plotting, so I can't justify a licence.Please PTC, update this aspect of Mathcad as soon as possible.

I'm using Mathcad 15 in Windows 7. Anyone ever seen this error before? And if so what does it mean. I'm reading in a 100 MByte file and stripping off a serious amount of data leaving this matrix of 15 columns and 21000 rows to write. Could it be a memory issue associated with the variable holding the 100 MByte contents.

Hi,I have drawn a sphere (you can find the attached file), but the data points are on the surface. I want a full sphere. As an example I drew only @r=3 and @r=5My first question is, I don't have an idea why we write λ(Θ,ϕ) <-- F(r,0,0,0,Θ,ϕ) on the 3D scatter plot. Why cannot we write F(r,0,0,0,Θ,ϕ) on the graph?I tried to write a for loop for the radius (r=0, r=0.1 .... r=n) and i want to see all the spheres on the graph.One more important point is that I need the x,y,z coordinates for these spheres but even for one single sphere I cannot see the coordinates of the data points.So to sum up,I have the code that draws a sphere but it only draws the data points on the surface, I need a full sphere. And, I need the coordinates of these data points. Could you please help me?

I just installed MathCad and I’m wondering if there is an easy way to display complex numbers in polar format, or even preferable display it in degrees. For example, say I have a resistor and inductor. R1= 10 and L1 = 10j. I would like to display it as:R1 + L1 = 14.14 with a 45-degree phase angle. I see some stuff that might be help from about eight to ten years ago, but I was hoping there is much more simple way with Mathcad 3.1

I'm having a problem figuring out how to do some math on a subset of a vector.  I have some data that I want to store in a variable (range or vector).  I want to be able to perform some simple math on portions of that variable, but it's not working the way I'd expect.(I apologize, I don't know how to add mathcad notation in this forum)Example.I have 4 elements I'm storing in a variable called row (row = 1,3,7,15) using range variables ii=0..3I want to take the 2nd through 4th element and subtract off the 1st through 3rd element and store that in a new variable which would have the result of newrow = 2,4,8I thought I could just do the followingjj=1..3kk = 0..2newrow[kk = row[[jj - row[[kkbut I get an error saying jj should be an integer.What am I missing?Thanks!

I already defined the solve block variables but mathcad is still giving me an error that shows that the variable/equations are undefined.  Can anyone help me find the error here so I can find variable P?Thanks!

I'm having difficulty having my Mathcad Prime 3.0 sheet perform calculations containing vectors.The attached documents indicate my issue. For example, if I define a range variable, i, and a column vector, s'_u that I want to reference in my preceding calculations, I would like to say that alpha is calculated each time there is a s'_u value...thus making the calculated alpha variable a column vector of equal size. I hope my problem makes a little more sense once you take a look at the attached sheets.

Hello...can anyone please help as how to use a table in mathcad to make a chart as shown in the picture. The software is showing some red marks on the notations as shown. Also, I want to get the software to take the values from this table, when called and use it in a equation as in excel. Thanks in advance

I am not sure if my syntax is correct but for some reason Mathcad Prime 3.1 will not solve the following simple 2nd order ODE symbolically. The ODE has this form v''(x) + v(x) = 0 which i believe is the same form solved by Euler. This equation is used to calculate the column buckling equation used by structural engineers. it would be disappointing to learn that math done more than 250 years ago still cannot be computed by the latest version of Mathcad. I would find it hard to believe that MuPad symbolic engine dosen't have such functionality? Is there some hidden software switch in Mathcad to enable full symbolic capability? Or maybe someone could show me a workaround. I am just interested to see if Mathcad gets the same result as in the text book. Mathematica certainly gives an unreconisable form of answer, to me at least when done by hand.Thank you in advance Mark
