Hello to all,   I am starting to explore the world of 3D plots in MathCAD.    I am relatively comfortable with 2D xy plots and creating graphs and evaluating them etc by using xy data and applying a polynomial function to extrapolate a curve from said plots. I am also comfortable with evaluating the area under the curve produced in this way with various integrals.    I am not looking at how challenging it may be to add the 3rd dimension i.e. if I have a variety of xyz data plots, how hard is it to plot them into a 3D plot and to bound a volume within them? Further how challenging is it to evaluate the volume within i.e. to find the centroid of the volume etc?   Thanks,   Andy.

Hello to all,   I am interested to know if it is possible to mathmatically define a curve as a function. i.e. if I have an xy plot which I have created a curve for i.e. a polyfit or similar. Is it then possible to get MathCAD to define that plot as a function of x? i.e. if I have a polyfit line (which I understand to essentialy be an extrapolation of the xy plots themselves) can this polyfit line be defined as a function i.e. y(x)?   Thanks,   Andy

Hello everyone, I am new in programming with Mathcad Prime 4.0 and I am trying to found a solution to this problem. I would like to make a while loop, in which a Mathcad worksheet is re-launched at each iteration. To explain better: I have a worksheet (called ConvWorksheet) that compute a lot of stuff and in the end compute a convergence flag (1 if convergence is reached, 0 otherwise). I need to write an other worksheet that controls when ConvWorksheet has finally computed flag = 1. I tried with the "Include Worksheet" command inside the while loop, but I cannot insert it. Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you a lot!

Hello guys till now i found some examples for accesing Mathcad sheets and extracting outputs and it works.    The Problem is now i read here a lot about sth like that it is not possible to recalculate some sort of functions. Well I rewrited a code i found here and there is a small problem (maybe big not sure). Tried to get customer services and I have a ticket but ....have not that much of time to wait for them to call me (already one week passed).    Ok attached you can find my Mathcad sheet and everything works fine with it when i set the values. If i do it now with visual basic i get an error for getvalue:   ComException error     What Im doing is to set some values in my Mathcad Sheet and in the end i have a function with minimize. I defined that function as "optimal" look here:      Well if i set the values in Mathcad everything works well and i have a solution. BUT if i do it with visul basic COMexception occurs. Hello! I'm trying to calculate a simple formula but I have some problems with the units. I'm getting the following message: These units are not compatible. Everything is in mm, and I'm using Mathcad Prime 3.0 express. What is the problem?

Does MathCAD offer a function that creates Real, Positive Definite Matrices of a specified size? For example, say I'd like a square matrix of size 10 x 10 that is positive definite. Is there a function that does this?   Alternately, if that is not available, perhaps I could use a work-around: create the Lower Triangular (L), or Upper Triangular (U), portion of a symmetric matrix, multiply it myself to create the full symmetric matrix. Hopefully, the result would be a positive definite matrix. Does MathCAD offer a function that outputs L or U?

Hello to all,   I am looking at analysing a shape that I have in an image. My end goal is to plot the shape in an xy plot in MathCAD. I am looking to see how people either: approach mathmatically defining a curve (not a simple curve by the way); or tracing an image (I have not used the likes of AutoCAD in some years so assume CAD software has come on a bit) to create a curve and to evaluate its properties.   Look forward to hearing your thoughts.   Andy

Hello,I have a matrix of steel shapes and the corresponding section properties.Currently for each section property I am using a vlookup function.  This requires I type in the shape of the beam inside each command every time.  There has to be a way to combine a vlookup and extract an entire row based on that lookup item.  I assume I could then put the extracted items into a single column matrix and have each passed into the variables.  This would allow me to only type the shape into a single lookup function.  I'm new to Mathcad so I'm probably overlooking the obvious, but I have searched for a solution and can't find one.  Anyone know of a way to do what I am trying to do?.

Hello everyone, I am having issues with using the range function in mathcad to plot two functions I have written. The range variable I have created is presenting an error when I include it in one of my functions in order to generate the independent variables that will be used by the other 2 functions. It seems like there should be a fairly simple solution to this issue but this is my first time using mathcad so I don't seem to have the knowledge to solve it. I have attached my file where it is possible to see the issue that I have. THank you for your time, and I hope that you can help.

Hi there,    i searched a lot in this forum but couldnt find sth which works.  Actually i would like to send with vb some variables into my mathcad 15 sheet and show just the results. If there is any way to show also the graphs, would be top.    Im not good at vb so i thought like a template or an example which works and i could change the code according to my needs.    Thanks in advance for a solution.

In the attached image (from Mathcad Prime 3.1) I'm able to use vlookup with a single value. Is it possible to use it with a vector of input values and return a vector of values?

Hi   Attached is pdf file. If the value of h/1000 (See last page) is OK when used in isolation why is there a problem when it is used along with an equation. Program says there is an issue with units. Please advice.Sriprakash  

Hi   The value of sin (1.515) should be 0.026 as per the calculator. THe program however, reports 0.017 (please see attached). Kindly assist.   Sriprakash

Hi all. How can I input a variable U*= In Mathcad Prime 3.1. The * should either be a subscript or superscript of U. sometimes could be a bar over it or any other symbol like a prime. I see that in Mathcad Prime 3.1 I am limited to just letters as subscripts or superscripts only but not symbols.  I also want to do U' (primes) too equal to something but Mathcad Prime 3.1 wont let me. Is there a newer Mathcad prime version that can do it or how is this done in Mathcad Prime 3.1? Thank you for your attention.

Hi,Trying to extract/ pass data to MathCAD 15.0 using Vb.Net (VB 2010- Dotnet Framwork 4.0).We are trying to pass 2 values (“A”, & “B”) from Vb.Net to MathCAD and then performing a simple calculation of (C=A+B) in MathCAD and extracting the value of “C” from MathCAD back to Vb.Net.The project was developed as per the documentation available; but there seems to be minor issue in reading data from MathCAD.Sample project and test MathCAD attached. We will be thankful if someone can respond to our query.Thanks

Hi,   I have an extensive table with 5 columns (0 to 4) and more than 1000 rows! I want to select the values from dorp down lists for the first 4 variables (each variable in one of the first 4 columns). Then I want to find the row that contains all the exact values I selected previously so to find the value of the 5th column (4) at that row (the row with the exact values). No row in the entire table repeats.   Attached is the table in an excel file I will be using.   I would like to be able to select the Height, Width, HFX Condition, Bolt Diameter and then get the corresponding Seismic Allowable Shear value.     Any ideas? Hi   I was trying to develop a function to calculate flow depth in D-shaped Tunnel. My attached sheet calculates correctly for First Tunnel section. However for second tunnel, It is giving wrong result. In fact it is not changing parrments of tunnel, which I intend to.   please have a look at attached version 14 File.   Thanks in Advance   A. Hi, is there a relationship or compatibility between Mathcad Prime and Matlab? Which one is better for programming, setting equations, algorithms and displaying charts? (3Ds, pies, etc...)

I have noticed that both in the older versions of Mathcad, as well as the new Prime versions, there is an issue when using both feet and inches units in a worksheet.  It appears that in mathcad 1 ft is not exactly equal to 12 in (if you evaluate ft = 12in, the return vaule is 0).  I am assuming that this is a result of 1in being equal to 0.08333333333 ft.  This can become an issue when using the rounding functions when things are evenly divisible.  For example, 10 ft / 12in calculates to 10.000000000000002.  If you were to evaluate  ceil(10ft / 12in) the result would be 11 NOT 10.  Is there any way to resolve the internal threshold/rounding issue? 

Hello Community,  i am new here and also new in Mathcad.  I have the following task to solve and i dont know how to do it. I guess its just possible with programming well maybe someone can help me.    In the attached sheet i have some equations and i want to solve one particular thing. If i set number for kf, than i receive a curve (kbges(tw)). After that i am looking for the minimum of this curve and thats it. But what i wanna do now is, to set kf as a variable that my minimum for kbges equals to 255 (kbges=255).    So what i want mathcad to do is: set for example kf=26 , calculate kbges and if the minimum of kbges doesnt equal 255 it shall set kf=27 and so on. I dont know how to programm it but i think it should be possible ?    I tried everything. I set kf as a range variable form 25,25.001...40 but it doesnt work. I set kf as a  vektor well...the same. I tried to do it with slope ...read all help sheets but couldnt do it.... Than i
