It is rare in these forums to see the product development process from initial idea through to a manufactured product. Matthew Booker is studying to be a teacher at Sheffield Hallam University and documented his design for an MP3 player that uses a number of manufacturing techniques.http://communities.ptc.com/photoAlbums/1486

I currently have Creo 2.0 Student Edition installed on my computer and have recently obtained a license for Creo 2.0 Academic Edition. Is it possible to update the license of my current installation to gain access to the student edition's locked features, without having to reinstall the program?
My assembly has, for reasons unknown, become disconnected. How do I reconnect it so parts will update again?EDIT: I backed up to an earlier version, which gets back the connections, but now I have to repeat work. It would be nice to know how to fix this for the future.
I am reusing items from a previous project that used some of the same parts in a new one. These reused items are in the folders created for the respective projects. Every time I open the assembly, all of these items are listed as missing and must be retrieved manually by navigating around the file tree. I do not have the room to make duplicates of these items, as they are themselves complex assemblies, and I cannot move them as this will break older designs that are still needed. Is there someway to hard link to them so that they load properly every time?
I had to replace an object in an assembly that was a reference for the basis object of several patterns (a rod through a hole, which is then axis patterned to generate the other rods). The definition of the root objects of the patterns each need to be updated, but Creo will not allow me to "Edit Definition", "Edit References", or do anything else to any pattern member. It will only allow access to the pattern itself, which dosen't need updating and is not wrong. I am thus unable to regenerate the assembly. I cannot delete and remake the pattern, as this will break an inordinate amount of other references. How do I get into the base pattern members to fix the referencing problem?

I need to align a circular object relative to an axis and two planes. I need it to be certain distances off of each of the two planes, but otherwise on axis. In other words, I need it to be a coincident constraint in the X-Y plain ONLY, while it is two independent distance constraints in the X-Z and Y-Z planes. The axis is moving vertically and horizontally as the design evolves, so simply setting things manually via other flat surfaces is insufficient. Is there a way to specify a specific dimension for coincident restraints in general? Or is there a good way to accomplish this in specific?

Hi folks,I shot an e-mail out to -, but thought I might get a quicker response here. The below error has a really funky license name. Just wondering if anybody's seen that before. Also, when attempting to reconfigure the install, there's nothing for the license file and it doesn't seem to be possible to add a new license file.Any help appreciated.Josh"Liscense request failed for feature Requesting CREOPMA_Academic2 ... I'm having an issue with my imported DWG file disappearing. Whenever I import it at 1:1 scale, the sketch disappears. It will only stay if I keep the scale at a higher number, The sketch is a simple cylinder profile which i'm goign to revolve. Is it having problems with adding dimensions and thats why it's disappearing? The steps I take are begin a new sketch on a plane and choose Get Data>File System. Choose profile DWG and change import scale to 1:1. When I hit the green check mark, the sketch disappears. Help??
