In lesson 'placing sections into sketcher' Worked my way successfully, lesson Task 1.But I am having a problem in Task 2 'Place a section from the sketcher pallette' When I click 'palette'from the sketcher toolbar the dialog box only displayed 'Placing_Sections. The polygons,profiles,shapes,stars Tabs are missing. Clicked (show),Navigated 'Sketcher palette' detail could not find an explanation on how to set up the missing Tabs. Please are there any lessons that covers sketcher palette - how to add a tab - add a section to palette tab - import a shape from palette and creating .sec files? Thanks for your attention.

Two questions on Mechanica, Student Edition: - In 4.0, when selecting the large deformation option, I know the Multi-Pass Adaptive option isn't available. How do I then evaluate the accuracy/convergence of the results. - I read the 5.0 Student Edition is scheduled for release in March. What new features will Mechanica have? Can it do both contact and large deformation in the same model?

Our team has a bunch of planes that we ran through EFD but we need to know what exactly to put in for the various CFDs (Whats Alpha and My) We know what Fx and Fz are (Force of X and Force of Z) but whats My? If its torque around the Y-axis I don't understand why since it would essentially be lift.

Many of these lessons are broken and load a blank page. I have upgraded Java and Flash and IE all without prevail. What could be some problems that are causing this?

Hello, I am having a problem installing the school version of ProE. I was able to download cd1 and cd 2 just fine but when I go to extract the files, it goes extremely slow (15 bytes/sec or so) and then my windows explorer stops working and restarts, which stops the extraction. I have no idea why I'm having this problem because I have no problems downloading cd1 and 2 from the website. I have windows vista and plenty of space on my computer for this program.. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Can we use springs and is there any restrictions on the psi of the springs?? we haven't found anything in the rules.

A couple teams have discovered an issue where rwdc.exe is not sorting airfoil coordinates correctly. If you see lines crossing the interior of your airfoil this could be a problem for you. The negative impact would be heavier sections. RWDC was designed to automatically sort points from the trailing edge to the leading edge, around the opposite side back to the trailing edge. The program automatically took care of both concave and convex features in the airfoil. RESOLUTION: Manually sort points (from TE to LE, and back on other side to TE) in your input. It does not matter whether the upper or lower surface is first in the list of points. Download and use the updated version of rwdc.exe (version 1.1). Mark Fischer will be posting the updated version shortly on the Getting Started page. Include a NOSORT parameter on your SECTION input. Input format: SECTION name NOSORT 1.0 0.0 ...

You may learn that this is a problem in your solution when you plot sections in GSView and see a straight line between the leading edge and trailing on one side and the curved edge on the other. Duplicate your input and reverse the sign for the y-values for the second half of the list. This way you will have the whole airfoil represented. Ideally data would be ordered from the Trailing edge around the leading edge and back to the trailing edge on the opposite side.

On the design can you use ailerons, and where are the pictures of the business jet.

What is the AC location on the tail sizing spreadsheet?? We are also having problems with flow.edf, we have done the fix from the video and are still having issues. When we suppress the wing that came with the project we are able to run Flow but if we don't suppress it we get an error saying "there is no fluid volume in the project. Please check geometry or boundary conditions." Any ideas????
