I want to perform a calculation using entries in the data table when something changed in that row and set that calculated value in another column of the same row. To avoid infinite loop, I want to execute my logic only when a specific property is changed. I was trying to use sourceProperty to determine the column changed. Unfortunately it was blank always. Is it a bug? or Am I doing something wrong?   Thanks in  advance.

I'm trying to create a service that I can globally put in a ThingShape; then reference inside every new DataTable that I create. This service will find the PK of each new data table and ensure that it is populated with a unique/increasing value. To do this, I need to be able to find the current MAX() value of all data in the data table for the PK field; then set new row PK field to MAX()+1.If I'm simply way out in left field...please reign me in, but I think I'm close.Please provide a sample script for how to query this information from an existing data table.

Hi All,   what's the difference between MSSqlServer template and Database template?I mean...can I use both for a SQL Server connection? Is it possible?In my case, I want to know specificaly if I can connect with Database template.Thanks,A.

I have been trying to use addDynamicSubscription(), I understand its non-persistent in-memory operation and it takes a service name as input. After checking the logs I came to know that the service execution failed somewhere and the service was never called.It would be really helpful if someone could explain the basic working flow of addDynamicSubscription(), just to make sure I am not missing something here.Thanks,Chaitanya

Hi,   I am also getting same Error while using timeserise chart custom widget, which I have downloaded from PTC marketplace. Error 09:59:04 ERROR - TW.Runtime.Workspace.Mashups.getWidget exception loading widget { name: Error, message: timeSeriesChartV2doesn't exist } Tomcat version: Tomcat 8.5 Thingworx version:  ThingWorx 8.2.1-b140 google chrome version: Version 65.0.3325.181 (Official Build) (64-bit) same is working fine in Internet Explorer, I am only getting an issue on Google Chrome explorer. initially, this was work fine on google chrome, but after few minutes it started giving me above mention error.   what I did to solve this issue. follow all the instruction which is mention in below support article https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS246176 but still, the issue is not resolved.    

I am attempting to make OAuth Request/Response calls using PostText (need to send content) but am unable to get a valid authentication.  There is the username and password parameters, but these don't seem to be translating into the needed format.I need my user authentication to be passed in the format of "username:password" and have tried various combinations with the parameter fields.  As an example, using this with curl, I would pass the authentication as part of the -u parameter as "username:password"Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

I have a property for a Thing "WeatherRover" which has a property "Speed". While creating "Speed" property, i mentioned following BaseType info,Base Type: NumberUnits: km/hrMin Value: 0Max Value: 20Now I want to use this Base Type info on the mashup i.e. Units, Min Value and Max Value. How to get this BaseType information provided for each property? I tried using "GetPropertyDefinition" Service, but it doesn't gives all the info needed.I also tried with other services like GetPropertyDefinitions, GetPropertyValues, GetPropertyLogging but none of them giving me the information I am looking for. I am getting the repeated data of perticular characterisrtics but i want data distinctly but not only columns but also a row.If anyone knows the solution then please revert back. Hi guys,I have problem with parsing the XML get response.I have tried every approach which I could find. (here or anywhere else).It drives me crazy because it is a very simple XML. Here it is.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><LL control="dev/sps/io/Power/state" value="5.07kW" Code="200"/>I am getting the result with GetXML (LoadXML works the same), but when I am trying parse the Value out of it, it always returns empty (as none). I am accessing the value with resultXml.LL.@value. (.@code, .@control -- all empty). I have tried to iterate and push the results  into the array - nothing. XML is not using namespaces. If I use warn.log it is also empty. I have tried different Base types. Nothing. Strange is that if I set the result to XML and use var result = Resources[]..... I can see the result while running service through the REST API, but if I try logger.warn(xmlResult) it is also blank.

  I have a template with field like "Deflector" of NUMERIC type (and other properties not show in above image). I would like to create a JavaScript service that will based on template name return a collection of JSON objects containing all property information that can be seen in the image.  I want to build agent with a VirtualThing implementation that will be based on this JSON configuration that can be retrieved from the TW JS service. In addition I would like to add "custom aspects" like: System, Group and Model that can be associated with each property (Can I use some kind of linked DataTable that I need to maintain using a custom mashup where I would show property names in one column, hide ThingTemplate name (which will point to TT name) and add DataShape columns: System, Group and Model). Hello,   We are trying to implement a hierarchy where a piece of equipment will be split up into assemblies and sub assemblies. What is the proper way to implement this? How does asset advisor or Manufacturing apps do this on the back end? Is it best to split them up into separate things? from a data visualization standpoint, they should all stick to the same "thing."   What our current thought is that we have a thing per equipment and then group up sets of properties in different data shapes. Is this an appropriate approach? In order to check if the property is part of a datashape though, we have to use queryImplementingDataShapeWithData which could be performance intensive as it has to check security for every property. What is the best approach going forward here? Is there a process to categorize properties within a thing itself?

Hello, I have a requirement to perform some action at startup (like filling some data tables or running some services associated with Thingworx entities), for that I am using a subscription to ThingStart Event. But I would like to have some more insights on how and when does ThingStart event occurs/triggers. I read in some documentation, that ThingStart event is fired when the Thing is created, so does that mean it occurs only once in the lifetime of a Thing? I tried to look for some detailed information for ThingStart event, but was unable to find it.   Another part of my question is what is the provision to have constructor and destructor feature for Thingworx entities, say for example, I would like to associate my Things with a Value Stream, when it is created (so I could do - Create a new Thing, Create a new Value Stream and assign the ValueStream to a that thing). But you might have faced challenges like writing required queries AddorUpdateDataTableEntries, queryDatatableEntries,PurgeDataTableEntries.1. You had some generic AddOrUpdateDataTableEntries like in thingworx or you have been writing queries specific to each data table operations.2. QueryDataTableEntries - In Where condition some queries might use a single column and in some other queries there might use many columns. Hi everyone, I'm using REST API to automate my application with TW Analytics. I've succesfully uploaded CSV and JSON files to AnalyticsUploadStorage using CreateTextFile service. However when creating a dataset with the uploaded files using /Thingworx/Things/AnalyticsServer_Thing_DataThing/Services/CreateDataset which gives 200 OK, but the job fails with following error in the GetJobInfo api response: ProtocolException: The server failed to respond with a valid HTTP response   Creating dataset through Analytics Builder works fine but I require REST API for automating. When I look at the call that the AnalyticsBuilder is using, its the CreateDatasetAMS service of the TW_ML_Helper Thing. Using that in postman also gives 200 OK but the subsequent GetJobInfo returns with the same error. Can anyone tell me what's wrong here...

Hi, I try to connect a thing (with MySqlServer template) to my db (MySQL), but the property isConnected is always set to false and the service that i create for test the connection give this error: "Unable to Invoke Service <nameservice> on <nameThing>: null". In the thing configuration I set JDBC Driver Class Name and the JDBC Connection String as following: 1) com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver 2) jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306;databaseName=dbmesfava_dbo   Someone can help me? the version of thingworx is 8.2. Searching for this problem I find solution just for previous versions.    

Hi,   My Thingworx instance working fine when logging-in using Google Chrome browser but it fails when loads using Internet Explorer browser.   Detailed description:   Form Login page has login prompt in the center of the web page when loads on Chrome browser. But when I try to load Form-Login page using IE Browser with Compatibility settings,login prompt get shifted to left side of the web page.And it work fine once we remove the Compatibility settings on certain machines but on few other machines,this doesn't work and get shifted to left side of the window with distorted CSS.   Please find attached snapshots of IE compatibility settings and Form-Login after doing compatibility settings change in IE.   Thanks in advance.
