Windchill

I have an excel database full of serial numbers for parts. I am wondering if it is possible to import these serial numbers to PLM from the spreadsheet as part instances. The parts already exisit in PLM i just want to add all my serial numbers as part instances.Not sure if this is possible in windchill

Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: I need users within a specific group to access and initiate workflows.Description: I have created a new product "Parts" and set up the groups and users.I need the user within the new "CAD User Group" to initiate a workflow.The issue is they can not see the Templates option under "Parts".I added both the Workflow Authors and Workflow Administrators groups to the user with no change.I can see if I add the Org Admin group to the user they can see templates, but then they have too much authority.

Hello Everyone,I’m currently facing a challenge in Windchill where I need to terminate a bulk promotion request that has been assigned to a single user. However, I couldn’t find any existing functionality within Windchill that allows termination of such requests.Has anyone come across a similar situation or found a workaround for this?Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,KB

Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: I have managed to ensure that users have to provide text in the "Comments" field for all workflow tasks in Windchill. I achieved this using the method detailed under the "Instructions for Windchill PDMLink 10.0 - 12.1" at https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS35488?source=search.Description: The issue with this solution is that the solution applied to all workflow tasks. I would like to be able to only apply this solution to workflow tasks that are generated as a result of them being produced from a certain workflow. The article found at https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS35488?source=search includes a function that is added into the custom.jsfrag file. I was wondering if it would be possible to include text in this function that will result in the result I am looking for. For example, some sort of "If" condition that checks the "Process" attribute value of the workflow task to see if it matches a certain value before apply

Is there a way to automatically have the ‘Send Email Notification’ checkbox selected by default when creating Ad-Hoc Activities in Windchill? 

Version: Windchill 12.1 Use Case: Differentiate between mail notifications coming from each environment so that users don't get confusedDescription: Emails sent by Windchill are not very reliable in terms of, from which environments are coming. Sometimes I see the email of the test server server-test@company.com, sometimes I just receive an email where the FROM(on the email) matches the user's email (the user to whom the email is sent). How can I reliably differentiate all emails coming from the test from the ones coming from the production, since the username does not change, but the URL of the environment changes from env to env, it would be convenient to trace that information somewhere and not rely on the user email. Thanks in advance,

I can make everything run as foreground application using the commands in this article: https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS49725 I've succeeded in getting Apache to run as a service using systemd unit files, but I cannot get either SOLR or Windchill to start. I've written a script for Windchill that opens a Windchill shell and then enters the command 'Windchill start'. When I run that from a command line the method servers start correctly in xterm, but when I use a unit file to run from systemd then it fails to start, even when I run it as the same user, or as root.  Would anyone share the startup script and unit file that they have used to get SOLR & Windchill

Version: Windchill Below 11.0 Use Case: Adding Participants to Analyze Change RequestDescription: Doing an Analyze Change Request task and trying to add participants for TRB Review. When go in to add participants and click search receive error message "No Results Found".  I have administrator privileges and I have also tried to complete same task as Org Admin. This is the only ECR that I am receiving this error and I have also deleted this ECR and had the ECR recreated and still receive same error.

Version: Windchill 13.0 Use Case: The OOTB Windchill functionality appears to only allow one part instance allocation to each part included in the structure of a parent part Instance. For example, it appears that if I wished to associate 100 different instances of a child part within the structure of a parent part instance, I would first have to specify that the quantity of the child part is 100 before then allocating a unique part instance to each of the 100 rows. This could end up being quite time consuming.Description: I am unable to find a way of achieving the same objective in a more efficient manner. For example, it would be nice if it was possible to only include one row under the parent part instance which communicates the details of the child part. Using my example above, I could use this single row to specify a quantity of 100 before then using the "Allocate Existing Part Instance" wizard to multi-select the 100 child part instances I would like to associate with the row

I'm looking for some insight into how companies are handling temporary engineering deviations on released parts/drawings in PDMLink. Does PDMLink have any native capability for handling these situations, or is it up to each company to figure out how to handle this by using a lifecycle state or some other means?Here's an example of an engineering deviation -- a screw is out of stock, so a substitute screw is allowed for production but it has a different part number than what is shown on the drawing. In this case, the drawing needs to be temporarily modified but there's no change request involved.
