Windchill

We have a process where one document is placed on a change process (sub-type of problem report) and the users would like the document (that they can enter a number on creation) and the process to share the same number. Other than just allowing the user rename/renumber, do you know of a way to have that document number populate the change object number?   Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

I followed the split pane example to have multiple JSPs displayed on one site. It works pretty well with JSPs that are located in /netmarkets/jsp but unfortunately the AJAX part doesn't work with views that I created for a Component-Builder.   The problem seems to be the URI to the view as it contains a "#". Thus the URI is cut off when being sent to the backend via AJAX.   Here is a code snippet which is pretty close to the split pane example. As can be seen the URI contains a "#". Dear Experts,   I would like to set our Creo4/WCH 11.0 system with multiple cache. I searched the earlier topics in this theme but there aren't clear exatly. In the psf file have to define the next if i understood well : ENV=PTC_WF_CACHE=D:\loca1\SPAPIK\C4_M70\ENV=PTC_WF_ROOT=D:\loca1\SPAPIK\C4_M70\ENV=PTC_WLD_ROOT=D:\loca1\SPAPIK\C4_M70\ENV=CREO_AGENT_HOME=D:\loca1\SPAPIK\C4_M70\ SPAPIK is an user.   I didn't find anything else in previous descriptions . Do i have to set anything else ? ( environmental variables ) We have an local active Creo2 and WCH10.2 system with multiple cache. It's work and we like it, but we have to move to a central system ( Creo4;WCH11.0). There are other server adress, other install configuration, etc. We bought node-locked licenses and we can open more Creo4 sessions, but we cannot use more WS with the different sessions in the absence of the correct settings.   I need a little help that what did i set wrong.   Thanks     &nbsp

HiI have an assembly file which is having only one part file as dependent. These both cad are not on windchill.Unfortunately , I have only assembly file on local disk without having its part file. What I need to do is to checkin assembly into windchill... But it is asking for missing part file. How to check-in assembly with missing link for assembly file.Any thought would be of great help.

The PLM area are growing to cover more and more of traditional ERP domains. With IoT and digital twins follows the needs to store the configuration of the physical product over time (As-Build and As-Maintained structure). In Windchill we can manage part configurations and part instances, but there is limitations aw the instance structure can be changed/maintained independently over time. What is PTC´s recommendation to meet  this need? What products or solution is covering the use case?Best regardsPer

HiWe can create workspace on the context and work on objects that need to be checked in or checked out within the context.Now, if I have an assembly and its child part. Both of them need to be checked into different context. So, how to do this ?If I create workspace on part , it can check in on one context.Now, I want to check in assembly , I should create workspace on different context. But on this context's workspace; I don't have access to part of different context and without that , assembly is incomplete.Any thoughts would be of great help.

I have created a new Windchill instance (11.0 M030 CPS16) and created a new org admin user. When I go to do things, the OrgAdmin does not have rights to do so. I cannot see the Libraries or Products that wcadmin created. I cannot do a SaveAs to a profile at the org level. I just relogged as the Librarian and that account can see all 3 libraries.   What setting is missing in a new setup that allows the org admin (and other users) to do common tasks?  

Has anyone increased the number of WS frames and then had performance issues that could be tied to the increased number of Frames being saved/cached?   What is the max number of WS frames that you have set it to without noticing any problems?   Although the default currently is 40 (WC11), I have had mine set to 100 ever since we started using them (probably around WC 9.1).  I don't think any problems I have had are tied to it, but hard to be certain.  I want to change it for everyone.     I also read in an old thread that, unfortunately, it is not 40 frames per WS but 40 per user.  So even 100 seems low in that context.  The good news is that the help file says that only frames go toward that subtotal and not all events in the WS event manager.

Hello Windchill Friends,   This will be my last post as I am leaving the Wonderful World of Windchill for another career opportunity.  Since I got so many good info from this forum, as my final give back here's the latest gotcha that I discovered:   In short: I went to install the 11.0-M030-CPS16 Critical Patch set on the customer's Pro/Intralink 11.0 server.  Install failed at the update of the bundled Oracle DB server:   DEBUG 2019-08-30 09:59:11 - java.lang.RuntimeException: Upgrading Oracle Database 12.2.0.1 failed   Confirmed that the 11.0 Pro/Intralink build requires the database to be upgraded in advance, meaning that the only way to mitigate the CWE-502 issue for this install is to apply the temp "11.0-M030-CPS15_CPSXB1 jar patch".   Customer will need to upgrade the install to 11.1 or 11.2 from here, in order to be able to use the Oracle 12c.R2 release.   Thanks all!  Best of luck with your PTC products!      

I work At Continental and we have the following below (See pictures below) situation. When I open a Word document by (default I Open and download, asking for check-out), now I see that the resulting value showed in "word" is AA.6 but due to the fact that I just checked-out it should be AA.7 (this value inserted by windchill menu  ), I have no clear which can be the problem ? When i create document in wise (In autonumbering mode) is mandatory to load local file, but in this case I have later to check-out download, rename the file and upload again, and chek-in !? Also another task to see deeper is the procedure of "Save as" of Microsoft office documents !? The online resource are not enough precise and do not describe any best practice or example, can somebody share his experience or suggestion regarding this topic ???

Last time, I showed you how security labels can be added to your table displays for CAD workgroup managers (here).  In addition, a new capability for setting security label values for newly created CAD data has been introduced.  The implementation is quite different from how it is done for Documents and Parts (wizard based approach).  It is also not enabled by default even when security labels are configured, so I thought I would show you.   It is often the case where new CAD documents in Windchill are created directly from the CAD tool itself (using File > New) and then saving these files to the workspace. At this point, access to these objects is only available to the user that owns the workspace.  Other users do not become aware or have access until these new CAD documents are checked-in.  So, this is where we introduced the ability for setting security labels on newly created CAD documents.  You do this by adding your security labels to the tab

Hi   I have a part file on local disk. I can open the same in Creo. Activate Wind chill Server within Creo and can check in the opened part (present into local disk) to windchill.   My query is how to do check in of part from local disk from windchill browser without opening Creo. Can I checkin part file from disk space to windchill if Creo is not installed on my machine?

We have set up our system to use security labels to control access to ITAR data. I would like to be able to search for data tagged to a specific ITAR agreement, however by default I cannot search for a security label. Has anybody found a way to use a security label as a criteria in a search?

I am not an expert in Apache configuration but I've been in the tool enough to know the basic plumbing.  We are looking to use a new LDAP proxy for two factor authentication. This proxy checks both AD and a DUO server when a user logs in. Both keys are provided by the users. What I am being told is that the Apache server is checking LDAP every time each URL or request is clicked. We are using basic authentication.     They had expected the webserver to only ask once on creation of the session for credentials but cache those and not check again.  I am 100% sure that Apache is hitting back to the LDAP proxy each url click.  This means when the pin code for 2FA expires after a few mins, the authentication fails and the user gets prompted for login.  This is not experience when using just AD authentication. Is there a setting that is not default with Windchill's Apache configuration that tells it to not contact AD again when it already received a thumbs u

Hi   We have registered server from Creo. It has three workspaces. I observed a random behavior and could not also identify when it behaves like this.   Once I click to change workspace from Creo by doing manage server, sometime external browser gets opened outside of Creo which I need to close twice or thrice before I could see changed active workspace from Creo . I am not sure when this happen as each time external browser for Wind chill is not opened.   How to avoid this problem?

When searching for reference documents related to Windchill PDMLink, no results appear.    Used: No keyword, Windchill PDMLink M030 (or all versions) and all document types.  Returns no results.   This needs fixed ASAP.  

Hi Folks, Anyone know of a way to create link to the highest version of a primary content file?   If not, how about a static link to the object itself?   Perhaps post a link on a document: Create a JSP page that accepts a parameter (docNumber). Then it has to get the latest version (Released for Production) of the document by querying, from a URL for the information page and forward it to that URL.

I have built one textbox, button and grid and binded with PTC-Windchill-Demo-Thing and service is Executesavedsearch and Listsavedsearches. I create a connector which is duplicate of Windchill-integration-connector. I am Navigate View 1.8 with fixed authentication. When i search part number in textbox which i build in mashup, It is not fetching data from windchill. I don't know whether i have connector to correct service or not ! I followed Advance Customization article in Help center to built the mashup. Help me if anyboby knows this issue.
