Version: Windchill 13.0   Use Case: Check-in is causing Creo to crash. Description: We have just upgraded to Windchill 13.0.2.0 and Creo 10.4.0. When doing a Custom Check-In, Creo is crashing with a fatal error and all work is lost. We have asked the user to do a Save before doing the Check-In and that seems to help, but it is adding an extra step. Has anyone else seen this issue with this combination of Creo and Windchill? At my last job we had Windchill 13.0.2.3 with both Creo 9.0.9.0 and Creo 11.0.3.0 and did not encounter any issues.

Hi All,We have developed an external portal that downloads document content from Windchill using the Windchill OData REST APIs on behalf of users who do not have Windchill accounts. To facilitate this, we have set up a service account that connects to Windchill to retrieve the necessary data. This setup is functioning well.Now, we need to track the number of users accessing this portal and downloading content from Windchill for licensing compliance purposes. One approach is to have the portal track this information and share it with the Windchill team. However, as more portals and applications are being developed to access Windchill data for non-Windchill users, we need to design a solution within Windchill to effectively monitor and record usage.I have not found any features within the Windchill REST API framework that would assist in achieving this tracking. This role is optional, we don't need to assign people to this role every time.2. When peoples assigned to this role, all people have to vote their result, otherwise, the workflow should not be transaction to next stage.Here is my problem,In Workflow Template AdministratorIf I set "All" for "Required" option for this role, I have to set someone to role when creating a new route, but this role is not mandatory every timeIf I do not set this role as "Required", then new route can be create, but the next activity starts before collecting the voting result by all participants.I have an idea to count the number of user votes, only allow next activity start when all participants voted. Version: Windchill 12.1 Use Case: This idea is to help prevent the bad practice of letting files sit with upload errors without attention for long periods of time (weeks/months/etc.) This report would be able to capture all files within Windchill that have upload or other related errors, so the support team can work with those users proactively instead of reactively when something is broken or lost at a bad time.Description: We had a scenario where a user had some check-in errors from almost a year ago on some files and didn't address them then like they should've. Hello All,Currently we are using CREO 9.0 as CAD software and Windchill 12 as PDM system.We want to investigate the possibility to migrate the EPM documents from Windchill to Autodesk Vault PDM system. There are other posts on this topic which are to migrate from Vault to Windchill and based on that I believe that the migration in other way should be possible.Does anyone have experience with this? Its Deja Vu all over again. I last ran into similar issues back in 2023, coincidentally, about the time of my last upgrade: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Windchill/Running-WContentVerify-and-getting-Socket-read-interrupted/m-p/895322#M73997 I think I resolved it by doing smaller batches. folder by folder. Some of my folders can get very large.  I saw in one case, that I was getting false positives where it said there were missing files but they were not.   Here is what I am running: bin/windchill  wt.fv.tools.WContentVerify -user=wcadmin -vaults=main_vault -email=me@me.org -onlyExistence Previously with my 12 system this ran without complaint. Is this an issue on my DB side or is this a tuning issue on the Windchill side? Version: Windchill 12.0 Use Case: How to create a rich text attribute using dataUtilities?Description: We need to create a string-type attribute and call it from the layouts using dataUtilities to transform into rich text.

I have created a new local (according to https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS348371?source=search , the attribute cannot be global) attribute associated with a "WTDocument" sub-type. I intend on adding this new attribute to one of the layouts associated with the sub-type. I wish to configure the attribute in such a way so that, when a user wishes to populate the attribute value field, they have the ability to use a "Picker" to make a selection from the WTParts that exist in the instance. Specifically, I would want the part number to be inputted into the attribute field upon selection. I have been looking at various articles/resources of PTCs and I can see that there is potentially a number of ways of doing this. My understanding is that a "Data Utility" could potentially provide the functionality I'm looking for. Can anybody advise on the best way of achieving my requirement? Hello. I'm new to the software so i'm having a hard time finding this answer.Having some issues with generating creo view files. Actualy wondering how it is processed. 1- model generated in 2015, generates relatively small file(s) 50mb2- same model now in 2025 generated with a lott of files/size 700mb Does the generator first process all changes from 2015 till 2025, then work backwards towards effectivity date? any documentation how this is processed.  And are there methods of limmiting prpcessing time and files? Thanks,john.

Following company's strategy, our IT is replacing all employee's PC by Snapdragon X Elite laptops. Surprisingly we encountered installation issue for Windchill, caused by incompatibility of Windchill Risk and Reliability for ARM64-based PCs.   According to Google AI, In the PC market, Arm-based processors are seeing increased adoption, with projections showing a growing share in notebooks, potentially reaching 40% by 2029. Following this trend, it could be potentially a big weakness of PTC, if compatibility issue is not fixed on time.   We constantly uses Windchill Risk and Reliability predictions demanded by customers, and placed a PO for 3-years floating license service of Windchill. However, this decision would have to be re-considered, if Windchill Risk and Reliability remains inoperable in our laptops.      Thank you for your attention!

HI We have an odd situation.We're using SolidWorks 2023 with Windchill 13.1.In SolidWorks most components have different configurations with different materials and colors.These components are used in different assemblies.When we see the small thumbnails on the Details page for the different component (SolidWorks Part) configurations, we see the correct colors, but when we look at the different assembly configurations using the same part configurations, it's the color from the Default configuration (generic) which are shown.How come we see this change in appearance (color) whether we look at single component or the component in an assembly structure?(Yes, we have rebuilded all configurations, and we have deleted and republished all models). Top row (2 objects) is showing assembly colors.Bottom row (3 objects) is showing correct colors for Head and Tail (1 & 2) and default color (3) 

Hi @HelesicPetr I am doing one POC. Requirement is I have to update specific iba on ECN. Basically we have global iba on ECN and Container and IBA of container having value so now our requirement is we want to copy paste that value on ECN IBA while creating the ECN. Currently, our order of stopping a windchill through our batch file starts with Windchill Server>Windchill Apache> Windchill SolrServer> Windchill DS. when we run this batch file it takes a pretty long time (around 20+minutes) to stop windchill server. Even when everything stops windchill server will be on stopping mode. I tried re-ordering this in the batch file by stopping Windchill Server after Apache and DS and it took fairly less time (around 2 minutes) to stop. so, my question here is if I reorder the stop pattern will there be any impact in our system? I don't have any problem with Windchill start and I know it must follow the DS and Apache first before windchill server starts but just want a guidance on Windchill stop pattern.

My company makes custom filter equipment for each order. We are experimenting with EBOMs within WC. We would be making new MBOMs for every piece of equipment because no two are the same. Is there a way to Save-As both the EBOM and MBOM at the same time? I know you can Save-As the EBOM but that would require an MBOM to be remade for every single WTPart structure. Is there preference or setting I am missing?

We just upgraded my environment from WC 12 to WC 13 and Thingworx Navigate from 9.3 to 9.7. We had some custom apps developed which do some number assignment. I am getting an error in some services and I think its because its not grabbing the instance based attribute we added to the Product Container.
