Windchill Navigate

I am in a dilemma as to why exactly I should configure SSO with ping federate for production server when Windchill authentication itself does the work? Can anyone here who have successfully implemented SSO with ping federate tell the exact difference between Windchill authentication and SSO configuration while installing navigate with Ping federate.

Hi all, We need to decide whether to put the DB for TWX Navigate on a separate server, and how often to back it up. It would be helpful if we knew what sort of info gets stored, and how big it will be.  At a guess, the data is role based user configuration and possibly some mashup config. Does any Windchill data get cached here? What else does the DB contain?   We will be using Postgressql. If the DB is small we can keep it local in the Navigate server, which would be convenient.   Thanks -- Rick

Hi all, I have installed thingworx 8.5 version. thingwork composer is working fine but I am unable to open the landing page. even i am not getting landing page mashup?   below I have attached a snapshot of this issue.

Hello,in our application we are having some performance issues, there is a lot of users accessing our mashup and one server is having trouble with performance.We would like to use multiple servers with a load balancer to distribute the load. Could you please kindly provide us with pointers on how to achieve that if that is even possible? Do you have any other recommendations on how to deal with a load?(We have Postgres installed to a separate server, we are able to replicate the database but just doing that does not work as expected, in order to see the changes in the Thingworx platform it is necessary to restart the tomcat in our experience which is an issue.)Thanks a lot in advance.Best regards,Jiri

I have been looking around everywhere for a understandable install guide to get windchill and navigate working.  The problem I keep running into is that PTC kb has lots of different methods but none seem complete. If you use a combination of them it just seems to make the situation worse. Add to this that the configuration seems to change from build to build and after installing 8.5 something that worked in 1.8 or earlier doesn't seem to work anymore.  This KB is the one that i have followed with the most success. https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article?n=CS247505 But now I'm stuck (for 2 weeks)  Authentication works. I can log in with windchill users. The Thingworx-IntegrationRuntime just doesnt seem to work.  I don't know if its the certificates, the CA certificate order or if its thingworx or apache? Is there some sort of trouble shooting method to get to the root cause? Is there "Picture" of how its all supposed to connect?  Any help will be appreciated. Tha

Hi, I have some problems with configuring SSO. I did all steps on this document https://support.ptc.com/WCMS/files/172779/en/PTC_Single_Sign_on_Architecture_and_Configuration_Overview_Guide.pdf  . I not sure about Scope, i did as on guide WINDCHIILL_READ. Is it right? I have worked through the tutorial of setting up a simple search from saved searches.  What I would like to do is default the saved search to a specific one and not have the saved search list visible. I assume I could call the oid of that search but cannot get that to work.

Hi, Is it safe or good to move directly from ThingWorx 7.3 and Navigate 1.5 to ThingWorx and Navigate 8. Even is it possible as after upgrading I have to import the data and exported entities of Thingworx 7.3 to ThingWorx 8.5? Thanks and regards, Aditya

We are using the Thingview widget on a mashup and want to use the "Views" functionality. The function works fine with the first model (extracting the views from the Thingview, storing as infotable and then binding the list again to the "Views").    However, when we load a new model (changing "ProductToView") the previous views seem to stay in memory and the new views (from the new model) are added to the list. I do not think that this is due to my implementation (have tried many workarounds). The only thing that seems to work is to completely refresh the webpage.   Did anyone experience the same behaviour and is there any known workaround that actually resets the ThingView widget?

So I have completed the Customizing ThingWorx Navigate PDF and found it very useful, but not being a developer I am having a difficult time moving beyond the information provided.  What I am currently trying to do is a search based on one specific saved search.  In the training material we pull in a list of saved searches.  I figured out how to limit that down to only global ones, but I would like to not have my users worry about selecting the type of search.  How can I set this up to use one search.

Hello All   Recently I upgraded Thingworx from 8.1.3 to 8.4 and Thingworx Navigate from 1.6.1 to 1.9.1 following official PTC guides. During upgrade I did not see any errors or failures but now the Navigate Landing Page has serious rendering issues s you can see from the attached screenshot   There are no javascript errors and all static resources (CSS/JS etc...) are loaded correctly   Thank you   Davide

I have built one textbox, button and grid and binded with PTC-Windchill-Demo-Thing and service is Executesavedsearch and Listsavedsearches. I create a connector which is duplicate of Windchill-integration-connector. I am Navigate View 1.8 with fixed authentication. When i search part number in textbox which i build in mashup, It is not fetching data from windchill. I don't know whether i have connector to correct service or not ! I followed Advance Customization article in Help center to built the mashup. Help me if anyboby knows this issue.

Hi,    I have installed Thingworx Navigate-1.9.1 successfully. I choose Windchill Authentication while installation. Its also configured properly. I am able to login in Thingworx using Windchill user. Its working totally fine. From Navigate also I can Search Part. But while using the mashup" ptc-connected-demo-mashup" , it fails to display result. Hi,      I want to configure Thingworx Navigate using Windchill Authentication . As per given in installation document , we need to generate two files Keystore.jks and TrustStore.jks. Hi,     I have "java 1.8.0_102" installed on my Redhat Enterprise  Linux-7.6 system. I want to install TW Navigate 1.9.1 on same system. The version specified in System  Requirement document is  "java 1.8.0_92". But I have higher version install on my system, so can I continue to install navigate with higher version ? Or, I will have to install the exact specified version ? Also Windchill is also install on same system, so Java Home is set to Windchill java path, So I guess if I changed Java Home path to some other version , then will it affect windchill execution ?  

Hi Developers,   I'm working on ThingWorx 8.0.1 with Navigate View 1.5.0. I was able to perform basic REST Operations such as fetching a NONCE Token from a Service, Creating a part,....   I had to use the URI's that were exposed from windchill for these services. I'm a novice in REST services if there is any document or tutorials which give step by step procedure to create RESTful web services in Windchill side and use the same in Thingworx it would be helpful.   Thanks and Regards, Saran

I want to know if RestEasy framework for developing Windchill Restful Web services is still supported. This is still available in Windchill 11.0 version. What is the road map and recommendation of developing Restful web services. I recall WRS oDATA is supported way going forward however I think PTC is still supporting RestEasy framework.   Another thing Windchill infoengine tasks can be executed by wrapper server in Thingsworx ExecuteTask service. This method is deprecated in the future Windchill releases. What is the recommendation around this?   thanks, Preeti
