3D Part & Assembly Design

Primary Goal:To export specification-driven piping and piping components that were modeled in Creo 8.0.3.0 as a Piping Configuration File (PCF) that can be opened and modified in a pipe-stress analysis software (AutoPIPE, v 23.00.00.230). Methodology:Piping is modeled as Spec-Driven per Creo Guidance and YouTube Tutorials, and pipe components are similarly modeled per Creo Guidance and YouTube Tutorials. To export Creo model as PCF, Creo guidance is again followed. This process has been tested and proven to be able to export complete pipeline PCFs that can be read/interpreted by AutoPIPE. Problem:The PCF export of some (but not all) pipe tees is encountering errors when following this methodology. During the export process, the coordinates for the center location of the branching member of the tee are shifted to instead read as the coordinates of one of the end points of the tee, as shown in the diagram below:  One might assume that the reason for this issue is

Can anyone help me convert an .STL file into solid geometry in Creo?

When importing a sketch in the extrude process, the center of the sketch is always in any other point than the center of the sketch -- not even on the middle line of the sketch.In this example I wanted the center where the red dot is, but I could not drag it there, or change its position in any way. Is there a possibility to edit the original sketch and make the center be in the very middle of the sketch by some procedure?Or is it something that can be done here, in the extrude, to move that center wherever it is needed?

Hi,I've done a relation for chose the constraint set of a component in an assembly.The relation works well with the component.The component constrained is the leader of a pattern of two items.When I change the leader constraint, the other item should modify his position simmetrically w.r.t. a central plane, so I've done a direction pattern with the dimension twice the annotation distance between the component and the plane of simmetry.When I chose the leader constrain, I have to edit the pattern feature to regenerate the position of the other item: how can I update the simmetrical position of the other item without edit the feature pattern?  Thanks in advantage.Best regards, Michele Barile

How is it possible to load a Creo Elements/Direct Modeling part or assembly into Creo Parametric, or to incorporate it into an assembly, if the part/assembly was created in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling with a large offset from the zero point in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling? What I have noticed is that when importing without preselecting a profile, the positioning fills the screen and the CAD file is displayed. (This is identical to the normal opening of the file)(view in My Videos)(view in My Videos)However, if you select a profile when importing, the CAD model is somewhere in 3D space and cannot actually be found and therefore cannot really be positioned. You can only find it if you search for the solid geometry somehow (see picture).(view in My Videos)Hence the question, how can you load CAD models from Creo Elements Direct Modeling properly via UNITE Technology in order to find or integrate them?We actually only a "quick and dirty" Creo Parametric 10.0.1.0 standard installati

Hello,I have a weird freezing issue with Creo 8.0.7. I am using a notebook with a dock and when I have to disconnect and connect the notebook during the day, the Creo kind of freezes.The weird thing is that Creo works normally, but only the part, assembly or drawing window totally freezes. I cannot modify, zoom, pan, rotate - nothing.To fix the issue, I have to restart Creo. Luckily all the Creo functions works, so I have possibility to save the work. But restart the Creo with every dock reconnection is annoying.Could this be hardware (dock) issue? It is a Lenovo AF40 USB-C hybrid dock. There is no similar problems with other programs, like Autocad or Windows office programs.

Hi Community! As per https://www.ptc.com/en/support/article/CS416999 in order to be able to modify the sheetmetal parts' thickness easily after creating them, we choose to "Unlink from Part" by default (in our start part). But it seems it solved one problem while created another: The problem is that the SMT_THICKNESS parameter is not updated after altering the model thickness. Therefore extracting the material thickness is not possible now 😕Is there another parameter we can use in order to display the thickness? Thanks in advance!-Tibor

Creo harness MFG still stumps me as to why it chooses an really high bend radius when it comes to using autofan when flattening a harness in inches.  Using Creo 8.0,.11.0 Here is what I see in my graphic when i Autofan.   it looks wonderful for 2 seconds then for some strange reason it starts slapping large bend radii on to branches and flattens the small branches out!!! Anyone have a workaround for this using autofan?(view in My Videos)

Is there any way to make the operations of cosmetic lines for explode views result in a standard way?  Is there anything being done to make what should be a simple feature work correctly?Why do I not trust any community member when there are things like this being provided as solutions?https://community.ptc.com/t5/3D-Part-Assembly-Design/Explode-Line-Issue/m-p/390043#M6732 It is frustrating to see that the issue I have in 2025 had been addressed in 2015, and the 'solution' to the issue was a link to a poll to try to convince PTC to care? There is ZERO options to apply to make the cosmetic line for explosion views result in any sort of expected way.  I have attached a simple look at what can be the result of adding a cosmetic line 4 times in the same way.  The result should be 4 identical lines.  It is not.  This is a simple core feature used in all of CAD work.

Hello Team, I am facing drawing layer issue in my drawing. i have hidden all the layers and isolate drawing display layers but when i try to save status, doesn't allow me and asking to check out the loverlevel assembly which is released. the lower-level components are released, and layers are not hidden for axis.can we control those layers in Creo drawing layers?

Tried to research this and found other posts but no results listed.  Using CREO Parametric 10.0.4.0In an assembly, I have 10+ components assembled and always try to fully define the constraints.  As I am adding additional components and constraints towards the end of the design (hardware) I start getting "Confirm Package Reference" which to me indicates another assembly component is not fully defined.  I can click "Use Ref" and move on but want to resolve the unconstrained component that I am assembling new parts to. Looking back at the assembly tree, I see component #10 has a small box indicating it is not fully constrained.  I click to edit constraints, and the Set Status says "partially constrained".  Yet I have three constraints (coincident/distance/distance) that should fully constrain the part/subassembly.  So I uncheck "Set Enabled" and create a new set.  Using similar constraints, I get the status to read "Fully Constrained". User config correct in drawing properties and set the font type3. then reopen the drawing propertiers setting, it rollback to default setting.Could you assist me to investigate it? user`s font couldln`t be set correctly

Hey guys, i am using PTC Creo Parametric 7.0 (Student Edition) I created a thread on a pin. Unfortunately, it does not really show the outlines (actually the inner lines) of the thread: My visibility option is on "only show visible edges / lines"If I select "show also not visible edges / lines", creo will show the whole thread but also everything else, which is not good for me. When importing emn files directly in Creo Parametric, is it possible to set the default import of emn files to Assembly mode instead of Part mode？ According to PTC eSupport article - CS398256,  It's not part of Creo Parametric functionality.Now I recommend that PTC improve in future Creo releases.

(Using Creo 8.0.9.0) I'm fairly new to Creo (under 2 years of experience with 5+ yrs of other CAD software experience prior) and I am looking for some advice on best practices for using layers in Creo drawings. I've previously struggled with layers when trying to make some skeletons visible in drawings but not others (similar to how you could hide features in the model tree in an assembly or part). The goal is to have the one particular skeleton visible in the drawing but hidden in the model (while other skeletons are hidden). This is the way it has been done previously at my company with large assemblies that contain multiple skeletons. Most of these situations end with frustration because hiding or showing a layer does not work to hide or show the feature contained within the layer. I realize I could just create a simplified rep for each view, but I would like to figure out layers for consistency with other company files (I'd also like to learn how to use layers in general!

Hi,I have a situation where I need to express a number to 8 decimal places in a drawing. I have created a parameter in the model as a string due to the number of digits in the raw number.Unfortunately when attempting in the standard approach in the drawing [.8] does not work after the &parameter, is there another syntax I need to use with this not being a real number?The number is: 0.00654322641148869I cannot enter the parameter as a real number due to the precision limitation on these values, hence using string.Hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction.

HelloWhen opening this step-file on my Creo 8.0.9.0 I get the whole part, also with the all the inside geometry (which I don't need to know). The file is way to big to work with it in my assemblies.Is there an import-setting or something that I can do to just import the 'outer surface' of the part?
