CAD

Has anyone figured out the format to use the TAG tool when doing an internal link. The instructions seem to say the TAG is #xxx. But when I link to it a text box I don't get it to transfer to the TAG. Yes i am using [ctrl-click] .In Mathcad 15 it was a useful tool to move around a multi-page worksheet.  

Hello all , I am trying to connect into Creo using a python code to extract the parameters into BOMs..First off has anyone successful done this?? I believe it is possible , However I maybe missing a file or module or not using the correct connection command. Here is  the current setup.-Creo 6.0.5.1-Python Latest version-All modules update to date.-I have all the toolkit API installed.-pro_comm_msg in environment variables- I have preferred to used win32com.client module to make connection but it has failed to make the connection.- I have also tried Creoson third party software to  make the connection. I was able to connect  to the server and Creo but failed to extract the parameters .it just stated no attributes to get...As there no offical help on this software it is hard to get help on this. So If anyone can provide code of how they establish a connection and was able to send commands/extracted data would be helpful. Thanks.

Hello, I have recently installed Prime 9.0 on my professional DELL laptop running Win 10 but when I launch the program, nothing happens, no pop-up screen nothing: the mouse cursor does its usual circles for a few seconds and then vanishes. I had to run the installation under a dedicated admin account but then back to my account, I can't start Prime even I run it again with admin priviledges. It actually happened recently with an install I did with 7.0 and I could no longer launch it in the end while I could use it for a year or so. It is what motivated the migration to 9.0 but the problem remains. I've checked for a log file in the PTC folder but could not see one. Also checked the Symantec log files, nothing reported.  If you could point me to some solutions I could explore, I would appreciate. Thank you. Christophe--

Hi all, I think I already know the answer to this question before I even ask it, but here goes anyway. Is it possible in Creo to create a helical curve which follows a profile, in a single feature? A colleague of mine who works with Catia is able to do this. I know I can achieve the same geometry using a helical sweep & intersect with my revolved profile but this is 3 or 4 features versus 1 (2 including the profile curve) in Catia, plus, its much easier to set up. Anyone who also knows Catia probably knows the feature I speak of, its the Helical Curve Definition with 'Profile' selected for the radius variation. Hopefully this makes sense.   Regards John 

Hello, I'd like to analyse a geared wheel stoped by a ratchet using creo mecanism.(view in My Videos)Which contact should be used to simulate the ratchet on geared wheel ?Please see my video attachedthe video uses a cam follower to illustrate the case but I would like the ratchet to lock the gear wheel clockwise and the gear wheel to be able to rotate counter-clockwise. is it possible to remove the ratchet part and simply prevent the gear wheel from rotating in one direction? I'am using Creo 7.0.5.0 RegardsArnaud

My company, Aerolab LLC, purchased a floating network license for Mathcad. PTC support installed Mathcad Prime 9 remotely for us. He gave us no information as to where the license is located or how to access it. I am trying to Install and activate another copy of Mathcad to use this floating network license. Please help.

I have purchased the student account. However, I have not received my product code.When do i receive this? Should this not be automatic for a digital product?

Just had a crash on creo 8 and trying to run the trail file for the first time, I found a youtube video to follow but when I click run it just doesn't do anything? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've renamed the file, can select it from the open menu, but then I click open and nothing happens.      

I'm trying to buy Mathcad for use in the classes I teach.  PTC seems to have handed off their online sales to a company called Digital River, but the web site also directs me to a sales rep who works for a company called EAC Product Development Solutions.  She offered to sell me a 1 year license for $295 when the online price is $56.   I don't understand what's going on.  Is this the same version?   I just got off the phone with the rep at EAC (who was professional and helpful, BTW) and she couldn't explain what PTC was doing, but is trying to get me an answer.  She did say that she gets lots of complaints about how hard it is to deal with PTC.  Ugh.   Can anyone in the community enlighten me?  It seems like PTC has decided to outsource their sales, but has sent it to two different companies who don't talk to each other and have different pricing.  Can this be right?  I have to be missing something.   Mark

We have an older perpetual version of Mathcad that we need to move from an old computer to a new one.  I cannot find anywhere in my account profile to change the MAC address so that the new computer will be recognized.  Does anyone know how to do that?

Here, the students and I saw an animation on the site Pendulum - Wikipedia showing the position of the velocity and acceleration vectors of the pendulum.We wanted to reproduce the acceleration animation in Mathcad - see the animation and the file in the attachment.But our animation is different from Wikipedia's animation -  we have a maximum acceleration, and there is a minimum. Where is the error - with us or in Wikipedia?

Hi all, sometimes I get a render image shift (displacement) on the 2D figure (see attchement). Any idea why? Until now I could allways move the render image back into its correct position and everything is fine. I am using Creo Parametric Release 9.0 and Datecode9.0.3.0I am trying to post a boring sequence for a FADAL 3 axis VMC. I want the tool to bore the hole, stop at the bottom, back off the wall .100 then move up. From what it looks like in the posted program it doesn't seem to be doing this. I am setting the ORIENT_ANGLE to 0 and JOG_DIST to .100 in the parameters.

Hi,I'm working on Creo Parametric 8.0.4.0, it seems like you can't bring angular dimensions used in a sketch of a sketched hole created in a .prt.For exemple below, we have a simple sketched hole : Sketch used (with an angular dimension) : In the drawing, only the linear dimension appears. One exception, where the angular dimension pops up in .drw is for sketched hole type : "Simple" and profile "Flat". Is this a known problem ? Is there any solution ? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to check the flange thickness ratio, b/2t, with b=18 and t=0.75. Therefore b/2t=12. 18/(2*0.75)≤12 returns true, of course, but b/2t≤12 returns false. This does not happen with most other values of b and t. What's going on here and is there any way for me to fix it?

Expect to obtain the Creo Elements / Direct Modeling configurations of the subassemblies in the Preset Explode  of Creo View  Description:In the help you can read that "You can use the Preset Explode function only if the source data has top-level explode states defined".  This is the structure on Creo Elements / Direct Modeling.  The objects are stored in Windchill.The visualization of Sub-Assy1 is a monlith visualization  and the visualization of the Top-Level-Assembly /Tops-Assy is a strutcure visualization. Only the Modeling configruation  off the Top-Level-Assembly is available in Creo View in the Preset Explode   We also expect to obtain the modeling configurations of the subassemblies in the Preset Explode  of Creo View      

For instance, I've tried the merge function and that seems pretty close to the functionality I'm looking for in regard to sharing geometry between parts (Some limitations of course). In practice I'm looking to create a forging model/drawing, which needs to be referenced by a rough-out/inlay level drawing, which will be referenced by a final machining drawing. In Inventor for example you can very easily derive a component into a brand new file and the first feature you see in the browser of the new file is that referenced part. You can control whether to break the link (as if you wanted to use that geometry as just a template) or maintain the relationship as the design intent would be to have any changes propagate up the chain to all parts making the reference. At any rate, the merge is the first way I see possible to conduct this design intent and wanted to ask the forum in case there is a much better way in CREO. My mind next goes to family tables in regard to feature suppression. whi
