Creo Elements Direct

Hi, It would appear that the license server is down again and has been now for several days.Initial checks indicate that there is a certificate failure causing that dreaded proxy server request dialog. Once again I am left asking why PTC continue with this license arrangement. If they are not prepared to support it then for gods sake just get rid of it. The product is ideal for hobbyists and a well supported product (free or not) is the key to getting customer loyalty, something which PTC fails at terribly.I use Creo, Windchill & ThingWorx (yes I know) professionally and am sad to say support there is also not good.  In the meantime, PTC ( if you are listening) is there any chance you will fix this? I am sure all it will take is a certificate renewal. Here's hoping------ 

Hi, We need to convert a large number of old .mi drawings created with Creo Elements/Drafting  18.1.I done some research i i found 3 ways to do that. 1) Use PTC Creo, open the files and do "save as" and select  .dwg in file format.2) Install Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express 8.0 and use dxfdwg.exe that is a tool to convert different file type.3) Reinstall Creo Elements/Drafting 18.1, open the files and do "save as" and select  .dwg in file format. Of this 3 method there is one that is better in terms of quality(precision, quotas, errors,  missing elements, etc) of the converted file ?If there are other ways to do that please le me know.Thanks for the support. Best Regards Giacomo Ceresola 

I am using 20.6 Creo Elements direct,  When I am in annotation I can not change from INCH to metric as my default, I've tried changing the units, but they say they are already in MM, I also tried dimension properties but it will revert back to Inch after the selection. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I'm new to Creo, but not parametric CAD.  I'm a one man operation and I can do the modeling part, but I was suprised there were no drawing formats supplied with Creo.  Is there a place I can get drawing formats without creating them from scratch?  Even the tutorials only show importing *.dxf for creating the formats, not from scratch.   

Hello, this is my first posting in the ptc-community and I hope, I put my question in the correct group. My name is Rudolf and I used creo elements direct modelling for about 6 years to create little things for my model railroad, but now I have a problem. I wanted to start the program, and because of I don't know the proxy-configuration (I think I don't use a proxy), creo asked for the activation-key. Normally I clicked on the button (Aktivierungsschlüssel anfordern [get activation key] and a new window opens in firexfox, where I can enter my email-adress and my password and get a temporary activation key for 72 h. But since yesterday evening the new window opens in firefox, but the screen keeps white and after a few minutes the message is "Die Verbindung zu www.ptc.com wurde unterbrochen, während die Seite geladen wurde" (the connection to www.ptc.com was interrupted during the site was load.) Hi! First time posting here.I have Solid Designer/One Space files dated as far back as 2004 that I am trying to recover. These files have .PKG and .SES extensions (not .PKG2 and .SES2). I have Creo Elements 8.0 but I have not been able to find a way to convert or or open these files and not much luck with searching for a solution.I still have the original dongle for Solid Designer/One Space but no longer have the install disk. This is the only way I can see as a solution would be to install the archived software and open the files and save then out as .step files.  Only problem with that... haven't been able to find the install disk.Anyone have a better solution and any suggestions? I have been trying to recover these file for years  and hopefully you guys can help me find a solution.    

I don´t know how or from where I can download creo direct for student. I tried download creo 10.0 because I believe I could choose creo direct version in installation phase, but only parametric version is available.      

Hello,for many years I'm using Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express 6.0. Some weeksago I installed Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express 8.0 on my Windows 7 pro.Once Creo Elements 8.0 is runnung with a opened pk2-file and I want to add anotherpk2-file from the Microsoft Explorer by clicking on it, then Creo Elements 8.0 thepk2-file opens in a new instance and a second prozess is runnig.Is there any setting for Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express 8.0 in which thisbehaviour can be changed?

Hi guys,when I open the help center in modelling Express, the program opens in automatic on "Internet Explorer" like the picture below.This browser is not my main preference. There is a possible to change it.Thanks in advanced 

Can anyone tell me how to upgrade my Creo Elements Direct Modeling Express? I had been running the free version on a laptop that I replaced and when I loaded Express on the new laptop I got version 8.0. The old laptop has 6.0. I occasionally run the old laptop in my shop to check a model and can't share a model between them due to the difference in versions.

Are any Creo Elements/Direct users out there familiar with PTC's long term plans for the software? Today I learned that CSI is discontinuing its line of Model Manager add-on products. We have been using their AnyDocs add-on for years. This, plus the fact that PTC has been developing Creo for awhile now, has me concerned that Creo Elements/Direct will not be supported for much longer. My biggest concern is not having to find a new CAD software, its the potential of losing our Model Manager database full of attributes, links, etc.  Does anyone have any experience with migrating a Manager Server to another database solution? If so, how successful was it? Also, what other CAD and database solutions are worth looking at? Thanks in advance! -Dan

Is it possible in annotation to convert the symbols created as BOM position indicator into texts?Because in this way they are not editable after having created them on the drawing, not even as characteristics!

Hello,Does anyone have an idea in which dimensioning type or standard this dimensioning frame is used ?In Modeling and Drafting it is called FLAG in English In German in Modeling it is called "Markierung", in Drafting "Schild".     Text can also be marked with this frame, there it is clear to me. Hello,i have some issues with the dialog "anim_create_animation". For some reason i can not delete the selected object-list. Is this a known issue? (view in My Videos) If the names of the objects have a certain length and you select the objects in the drop-down menu, then the program crashes.(view in My Videos) Software/Version: Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 20.3

For those who prefer the ribbon user interfaces (PELOOK 4), a tab has been added. I had included two xml files, one English, one French. Because I do not know how to localise.I tried po and mo files at various location with BINDTEXTDOMAIN, but that did not work.Can anyone help? To be downloaded from http://kotom.eng.free.fr/ 

Hi All,in the "Creo Elements/Direct Drafting DWG/DXF Translator" manual (dxfdwg.pdf), its mentioned in the appendix "Hints and Tips for Translating MI to DXF/DWG" on page 65: “A dimension with a superfix, subfix or prefix is translated into geometry.” Does this apply to a radius like “R5" as well, or are there other ways to convert radii and diameters to a dimension  when exporting mi to dwg? Useful Hints will be highly appreciated! 

Creo Direct 20.5.1.0For a deeper error analysis in ME10 CAD-files (file extension *.mi) we are looking for a file specification in which the individual components, especially the dimensions and tolerance segments (DTV) and the structure of an mi file, are described in more detail. Where can we find such a mi file reference/specification?
