Hi everyone, I’m currently learning ThingWorx and trying to connect a small IoT setup, but I’m a bit confused about the correct architecture and would really appreciate some guidance. My current setup uses an ESP8266-based NodeMCU board to read data from a wireless AC current sensor. At the moment, the ESP8266 collects the sensor data and displays it on a local web server using an HTTP client. That part is working fine. Now I want to extend this project so the device can send the sensor data to **ThingWorx for monitoring and analytics**, ideally using **MQTT** since it seems to be the common approach for IoT communication. From what I understand so far, the workflow might look something like this: Sensor → ESP8266 → MQTT → ThingWorx However, I’m unsure about a few things: Do I need to install and run a **separate MQTT broker** (for example Mosquitto) between the ESP8266 and ThingWorx?Does **ThingWorx provide its own MQTT broker**, or does it only act

I have stream which have data in 11 columns, and rows have data as well as null values. I want to create a service which goal is,Fetch ~500 records from a ThingWorx StreamInsert them in a single bulk operation into Postgres using a DB Connector.please anyone can help me how to create this service and their logics. 

Hi Community, I am currently working on an integration scenario where I consume data from multiple external APIs (e.g., SAP, APLUs and 4 additional interfaces ).   Each API delivers data in a slightly different structure, but the overall processing logic in ThingWorx is quite similar: Call external API Receive data Perform transformation / validation Execute business logic Return structured output To avoid duplication and improve maintainability, I am considering the following generic approach: Proposed Approach Create a Thing Template that contains: Generic input definitions (API endpoint, headers, payload, etc.) A standardized output structure (e.g., JSON) Shared services for: API execution Data transformation Error handling Logging Then create individual Things inheriting from this Thing Template for each interface (SAP APLUs, Interface2, Interface3, etc.) Override only specific logic where necessary This way: Core logic is centralized

Hello,I have a PLC program which send the DTL from the PLC, although I can log the timestamp based on the SQL side, is there anyway to log DTL directly from PLC to Kepware with the new/upcomming updates ?

Hi, I currently use LinkMaster to map tags between my field devices and PLC. I want to get rid of LinkMaster and do the mapping in Kepware Server. I currently have Version 6 of KepServerEx. Do I need to update to V7 in order to use the advanced tag linked tags feature or is that available in the version I have now? Also, is there a way to just export my LinkMaster tags and import into Kepware or does it have to be a manual migration? Thanks 🙂

先前客戶在 ODBC 做讀寫，再透過 OPC UA 提供給 InTouch。每日固定時間會出現數值異常。我們已經更換過 Server 環境，也更換過資料庫（MSSQL / MySQL）。若直接接收溫度資料則是正常的，使用 Local Historian 也是正常的。我們嘗試過許多測試方法，目前的結論是：只要資料經過 ODBC，就會發生異常。異常現象大約持續幾分鐘，在這段時間內，A 項數值會突然升高，B 項數值也會升高（沒有太明顯的規律）。而且只會發生在特定時間。想詢問 PTC 或其他夥伴，是否有遇過類似案例，或有任何可能的原因與建議方向。Previously, the customer used ODBC for read/write operations, and the data was then provided to InTouch through OPC UA. Data abnormalities occur at a fixed time every day.We have already replaced the server environment and also changed the database (MSSQL / MySQL). When temperature data is received directly, the values are normal. Using Local Historian also works normally.We have tried many testing approaches, and the current conclusion is that the abnormality only occurs when the data passes through ODBC.The abnormal behavior lasts for a few minutes. During this time, the value of item A suddenly increases, and item B also increases (without a clear pattern).This issue only occurs at a specific time each day.We would

I use KepserverEX6.14 for linking Rockwell and siemens PLC's.We have 207 link tags in both directions. But we have troubles with 1 Siemens 1512 PLC when the communication drops (without voltage or network troubles). After the communication restores, kepserver can read the datablocks but CAN'T write to the datablock. The solution is then disable-enable tags, after this everything works like it should. My datatypes are boolean's and words (not defaults).There is a scan rate of 2000ms for PLC values. And the linked tags are written when input changes.I have tested with Auto-Demotion on and off (also with 'Discard Requests when Demoted' on/off) What can i try else?

Hi, I need to connect to KepserverEX 5.8 in a Windows 2000 Pro/Sp4 workstation with Ewon Flexy 205.The goal is using the ewon (in this case 5 of them) as middle point to communicate s7-300 PLC with Wonderware 8.0 using KepserverEX 5.8 as the OPC server. When configurating KepserverEX 5.8 channel i use OPC UA and configure UA server in the channel (see attachment 1) and when i try to import items on  the device to import the tags of the Ewons an error appear (see attachement 2).See attachement 3 for ewon configuration.Any suggestion to address this?

Hello, im setting up tags in Kepware where previously we have used RS linx, the booleans tags are all showing 0 when it should be a 1 and are not changing at all. The quality of the tag is good and its showing correctly (1) in RS linx but a 0 in kepware, anyone got any advice? Kepware server 7

I am trying to get a hold of Sales in order to purchase additional license options on my Kepware OPC Server package.  I have tried submitting a ticket but I received a "you are blocked" response to that.  I've tried calling but after being on hold for nearly an hour, it just disconnects me.  I mean, really?  I'm wanting to buy stuff from you.  Does PTC really make it that difficult to make a purchase?  Can someone PLEASE contact me? m.barnes@amrize.com

With the original KEPServerEX client, only one certificate is needed for mutual communication.However, it seems that a self-signed certificate cannot currently be reused across multiple systems, possibly due to the more complex architecture. Please confirm whether a self-signed client certificate can be used by multiple servers.Will **OPC UA certificates automatically renew or extend their validity period?If the client certificate expires, will it affect the existing system? For example, could it cause issues such as EAP being unable to connect?

We would like to discuss what considerations or precautions we should pay attention to.軟體、系統、硬體都可以。Any suggestions related to software, operating systems, or hardware are welcome.

Atlascopco PF6000 Open Protcol lose data when I connect to OT network.When I connect  PF6000 with my laptop using Kepserver Open Protocol ,I'm able to read and write . But ,When I connect PF6000 to my sever through OT network ,I'm loosing data one or two data's are working .Could you please let me know ,what could be the issue ?

Hi everyone, I’m facing a performance issue related to PDF rendering between two widgets in ThingWorx. We are using a Repository Connector (not a local FileRepository) where all PDF files are stored.Each PDF is around 4 MB in size.   When I render a PDF through a WebFrame widget, it loads almost instantly (within a second).However, when I render the same PDF using a ThingView widget, it behaves differently:   The first PDF usually loads quickly. But when I open subsequent PDFs, the loading time increases significantly (sometimes up to 8 seconds or more). It feels like ThingView is reloading or re-parsing the file differently each time.   Additional Note:I have also tested the same setup using a local FileRepository, and the ThingView widget works perfectly fine there. The performance issue seems to appear only when using the remote Repository Connector.What’s confusing is that the WebFrame widget still loads the same remote PDFs much faster, so I’m trying to unders

We have a successful connection from KEPServer to a Siemens PLC using Siemens TCP/IP Ethernet. The only issue we are having is that when the PLC is powered off, we are filling up the KEPServer event log with hundreds of entries per hour. . Is there any way for KEPServer to deactivate the tags while the PLC if offline, and re-activate when the PLC is powered back up?  

Hi all,We're running Thingworx 10 as SaaS with Thingworx Kepware server 6.18 on-prem. I sometimes notice that devices that are disconnected in kepware (e.g. powered off), still have properties in Thingworx that show good quality. When I run GetPropertyDiagnostics on any of the properties, the results shows CurrentQuality as BAD.It also seems like the behavior is not always the same, most often the disconnection will change the property quality & values as expected.As Push Type we use 'Pushed based on deadband', when I change this to 'always', the property quality changes and values are set back to 0 (so the expected behavior) but with ten thousands of properties the impact on our environment will be too high.Is there any other way to ensure that a disconnected machine is always seen in thingworx without using a workaround like a lifebit?

Is it possible to access other Channels' Tag data from within a Universal Device Driver profile? I need to save some Tag data to a csv or text file and am looking at the possibility of using UDD in File Mode to periodically write the data values from a channel (Modbus TCP for example) to file.  I'm just not yet sure if there's a way to access 'outside' Tag data from within the UDD Channel/profile. 

We need to pull data out of an old 5/250 but Kepware is preventing us from entering the address as they need to be.  the PLC5 architecture is "N7:40" for example but in the PLC5/250 it requires a leading digit to identify which module the address is in so "N7:40" in a 5/250 would be "0N7:40".  Has anyone had any experience with this? THank you,Dean

Hello, We are currently running Ignition（SCADA soft） on Linux and would like to use KEPServerEX as the OPC server/gateway. However, the documentation indicates that KEPServerEX is Windows-only, and using Windows is not an option in our environment.We also considered other options such as KEPServerEX Edge, but the available drivers/licensing do not match the PLC we need to connect to, so Edge does not meet our requirements either.Questions / what we are trying to achieve:Are there any plans for KEPServerEX to support Linux (either natively or officially via containerization/other supported deployment methods)?Our goal is to acquire data from a PLC using KEPServerEX and then provide that data to Ignition (e.g., via OPC UA). What is the recommended approach when Ignition is running on Linux and Windows cannot be used?Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello all,Currently trying to read values from 0i-TF CNC machine. Using Open Model in Focas library  WHen try to read the value, the data type changed to Native and Quality and No Value.I tried to refer from previous post/topic but seems never work for me.

I am trying to load an external website inside a Web Frame widget in a ThingWorx Mashup.I added the  URL in the URL property of the Web Frame widget: However, when I open the mashup, the page does not load and the widget appears blank.What I have already checked:The URL works correctly when opened directly in the browser.The Mashup loads successfully in ThingWorxThe URL is added correctly in the Web Frame widget properties.Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
