Mathcad

I know I'm only an Express user, but could somebody at PTC please kindly consider this feature request?   The format function is potentially very useful, but (IMO) is let down by the way it converts strings, ie it includes the quote marks.   Let me present an example:   I wanted to use format to replace a section of a long string.   AsciiCow is what I wanted, FormatCow is what I got.     format would have been ideal for this job  ... except for the quotes!  On the rare occasion I might want quotes, it's easy enough to put them in the format string.     Here's an example of what I'd like from a programmed version of format I wrote many Jupiter's 9th moons ago.     Cheers,   Stuart

What I want to do is do something like this: Rate of apples on a yearly basis:        rate_apples := 2,000,000 apples/year Apples over 3 years:                          rate_apples * 3 years = 6,000,000 apples   Where it then calculates the total amount of apples for me using the unit I've defined. But it seems I can only define a new unit in terms of SI-units.   Is there any workaround or tool I don't know of?

Is there a way to search the MathCad worksheet for a variable that uses a literal subscript. I have tried cut/paste the variable into the "Find" but it does not seem to work.   Thanks.

Hi Eveyone, A nonlinear differential equation is solved using rkfixed and AdamsBDF in the attached worksheet. As can be seen on the plots, they return entirely different solutions. The stable solution is reached with rkfixed but not with AdamsBDFF within the specified time period. I wonder which function returns the correct answer. Your advice is highly appreciated. When I evaluate a range variable in a trigonometric function it works fine. But the problem comes in when I assign this trigonometric function containing the range variable to another variable. I get an error on the range variable that says, "This value must be a scalar or a matrix." The sheet is attached.

i have tried to load mathcad 15 trial but cannot get a license. I get a message that I have tried for too many licenses.

When i try and run the program, only the extracting window appears, dissapears when it gets to 100% and then nothing happens.

I'm a student and I forgot to mark it. I want to extend free Mathcad express prime 7. As I understand Mathcad express prime 7 is free for students.

FOR A REASON OR ANOTHER THE SOLVER DOESN'T PERFORM THE INTEGRATION.   The program is typically solving for  Int [a to b]  (Ax+B)^(-3) dx.      --------However, I have several Matrices defined.-------      Initially the first matrix in the Integrand function resulted in errror : <Not a Singular Matrix.>     Thus recognizing the matrix as x, I redefined x as xn, and dxn.  Please see Theta2 equation.     I know the solution, I wish for the program to simplify future problems.

Hello folks,   I'm sure this questions has been asked many times before, but I haven't found a straight answer. Are reference tables available in Mathcad Prime 7? In Mathcad 15 the reference tables are readily (and easily) accessible and they are interactive (e.g. periodic table). I can't seem to find how to access these tables in Mathcad Prime 7. My fear is that this would be yet another functionality lost when transitioning from 15 to Prime.   Thanks in advance!!

I have a problem with ORIGIN in Mathcad Express 7.  I use the default ORIGIN at the start of a worksheet, do some calculations, then change to ORIGIN = 1, do some calculations, then change back to ORIGIN = 0 and repeat the original calculations.   However, whilst Mathcad reports that ORIGIN has changed to 1, it seems to behave as though the ORIGIN is still 1.   I don't know what I'm doing, or thinking, wrong.   The attached Mathcad Express 7 worksheet may, or may not, show the problem.    Stuart

Greetings Four Fours Game fanatics…you know who you are…(BTW, if you aren't familiar with the Four Fours Game, the attached document includes a complete description)I have been dinking around with the Four Fours Game since Algebra I in 8th grade in the early 1970s, when our teacher, the extraordinary Mr. Sherard, dropped it on us and made it a contest.  In the early 1990s, I began the process of documenting my own hand-written solutions using the Equation Editor in MS Word.  The current version, which I published two years ago to give to my math teacher friends, is still an MS Word/Equation Editor document.  The current version contains multiple solutions for every number from 1 to 300.  I am working on 301–400 as time permits.  There is one source on the internet (mentioned in my document) that has single solutions up to about 40,000 and there was no way I could directly compete with that, which is why I decided to concetrate on multiple solutions for every nu

Under Mathcad Prime 7.0 and Mathcad Express 7.0, this worksheet causes Mathcad to either lock up or to stop running (just disappears) when the first 2 "integrate" function calls (highlighted in orange) are evaluated. The 2 regions are disabled upon loading.   Enabling either region by itself and calculating the worksheet results in an expected message, "This expression cannot be evaluated.  It may have resulted in an overflow or infinite recursion.". Enabling both regions causes Mathcad to fail to respond to user input for a short, but variable period of time, before crashing.   Usually, Mathcad just disappears and is present in neither Task Manager's Process List or Details List. The regions below (in the worksheet) are an extract from a Mathcad Express 6.0 worksheet, which ran without problem under Mathcad Express 6.0.   I'm running Mathcad under Windows 10 Professional on a Lenovo T450p equipped with 16 GiB RAM.     Stuart

I have a range of lengths. I need to sum them after pushing them through a function. Unfortunately the sum operator is not happy and stating: "Ranges with units must specify the second value in the range". Thank you for your time and help.

My younger son pointed out the following YouTube video to me:    It shows an ASCII Art toroid (doughnut/donut) written in C, with the code nicely obfuscated to look like a doughnut.   I couldn't replicate the obfuscation in Mathcad (although my code is usually obfuscated at the best of times), but I did think that I might try to produce the "animation".   If I had Mathcad 15, I could have used the animation facility, but as I'm using Prime 7.0, I constructed a vector of successive frames, instead.   Stuart   I would have presented a more generalized version (eg, user-defined: row size, column size, and perspective depth), but I only have a few more days of the 30-day Trial left, and far too many other worksheets under development to spend upon a relatively undemanding task.    

It's strange where things can lead.  I wondered if a matrix of consecutive integers had a special name in standard mathematical usage.   I couldn't find such a name, but I did find a few with special names, including one called the Lehmer Matrix.   Before I knew what was happening, I'd created a Mathcad worksheet implementing the Lehrer Matrix and its inverse, which has an explicit formula.   The worksheet is attached.  I can't check it properly because I'm about to run out of my 30-day trial period and lose both symbolics and programming.   Stuart

I been trying to change the guess value but with no success.

Dear PTC Community! I am working on a big project for university and it is a requirement to insert the values of any variables into the formulas. I did that by using the symbolic operator aswell as "explicit, ALL". This seems to mess with the calculation results however. My guess is that the symbolic operator is treating the Units as unknowns and therefor not calculating properly.    Look at the screenshot to see the problem!Is there any other way to visualise the values of said variables?Is this a known issue?
